Ja Rule Gets Court Date For Sentencing

ja rule gets sentencing date

Back in December, rapper/actor Ja Rule pleaded guilty to a New York gun charge from July 2007.

He was due in court yesterday to get a sentencing date, but prosecutors said that "changes are needed in a presentencing report," so the court date has been rescheduled to March 9.

Enjoy this next month, Ja! Looks like that prison sentence is likely to start sometime in March.

Hopefully, he'll learn his lesson after his two-year prison stint. Can't be carrying around loaded semi-automatic firearms, Ja. NOT cool.

Do U think two years is a reasonable prison sentence for being caught in possession of a loaded gun?

he's still priviledged to be in an all male environment, that's actually exclusive and powerful to women when you think about it

First off, most states DO allow you to carry a loaded ,concealed pistol. Unless he was a felon, then I would assert that the laws he was prosecuted under are unconstitutional.

Secondly, tens of millions of men and women carry a loaded, concealed pistol daily. I never leave home without it. I feel anyone that has taken the steps to carry and do so responsibly should be AWARDED, not penalized.

NY gun laws are largely unconstitutional.

It is kind of funny…. where I live we call it a "two clip town". Gotta have one for back-up when you go grab a newspaper at 7-11.

Anyways, the humor is that I have noticed most people who do not carry concealed pistols themselves….are totally unaware that this is legal throughout most of the country. They automatically assume or believe it is illegal to carry a loaded pistol anywhere.

New Yorks laws regarding fire arms are out of line, especially considering the stats on violent crimes, etc.

The simple desire to possess a handgun while in New York City, without some other extenuating circumstances, will not serve to present a "need" suitable to receive authorization. In cases where "need" is sufficiently demonstrated, permission will be given, usually for a specific period of time, after which the process would start over again.
