I enjoyed the show, but I didn't like the fact that we only see like 4 awards being given on television.. The purpose of the show is to give awards… Although I liked the performances! Congrats to everyone, they all deserved it!

and u forget madonna feat guetta

Happy to see Eminem is being recognized for his talent! It seems like all too often he is snubbed! I love him so much and Congrats to him! Other than that ehh. I really could care less. Lady Antebellum are good, and the song was ok, but I really don't think it was the best song of the year!

I guess Eminem showed up cause he knew he was getting an award. I'm guessing that's why Jay Z stayed home. Christina was horrible as per usual - grats on trying to upstage the other 4 and Martina McBride doing a better job than you. Bob Dylan looked and sounded like a creepy fossil - just go away already. Mick Jagger had energy to spare - too bad his song selection was off. The best new artist award was an obvious (and well deserved) slap in the face as to today's pop music machine - seriously, who is that broad that won? Arcade Fire 100% deserved their award but they should have done The Suburbs instead of the 2 they chose to perform.

The highlight of the show in my opinion was Norah Jones and the other 2 doing Dolly Parton's 'Joline'. Lady A deserved their win - that song is too damn catchy and real to ignore. Lady Gaga did an acceptable job but should have done a song that put her there instead of trying out new material. I changed the channel on Bruno Mars - sorry. Someone needed to tell Nicki Manaj that this isn't the MTV VMAs - she looked ridicioulous and out of place. Justin Beiber and Usher bored me and I changed the channel on them too - obviously I did the same thing to that country chick - whatshername. Barbra S, while offkey in some places made people wonder why she's so famous. The entire rock catagory was almost invisible (sorry, I don't even consider Muse rock) and for good reason - no good rock music this year…same thing for Latin music - which is odd for the Grammy's. I guess they were forced to give Eminem 2 awards or he wouldn't have shown up - were both televised? I must've missed one. All in all - this was a better Grammy show than usual - even with it's glaring flaws. I would have liked to see more awards given out - but I guess that's what makes them dull when they get too technical.

Bieber didn't win BEST NEW ARTIST??? (Who the hell is Esperanza Spalding?), and neither Eminem nor Lady Gaga won ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Weird. Christina Aguilera is the best voice of our generation, she killed it. Gaga right after those 5 sucked, failed to impress even with shock factor of any kind, including also that Madonna is not only still alive but hasn't even retired yet, so there's no need for mediocre remake of her work. Bruno Mars once again won my heart over. Him, B.O.B. and Janelle Monae are all such talented people. Ever since Usher's come back I can't get over the fact how much he blows live. Justin Bieber's Voice is cutting through unpleasantly, but I'd give a guy who goes through puberty some slack. He looked good, happy for my fellow Canadians Bieber and Drake! Jaden Smith did great, and Will screaming "That's my baby" was priceless and made me cry… Rihanna is a bad dancer, but I still love her. Eminem made me proud. I can not believe they played Diddy's voice on Jen's track when Lopez and Anthony came out. Both were so stunned and uncomfortable. Bad joke. And now to my favorite part - SEXY BEAST MICK JAGGER! Grandpa KILLED it, and nobody, and I mean NOBODY had this kind of outstanding stage presence. I was excited about his performance for a month, and some people were telling me Mick's old and wearing a diaper. I looked closely. No diaper. And even if there is one, IT'S A ONE FUCKING LUCKY DIAPER!

I think the biggest question of the night was who the hell is Esperanza Spalding!! I looked her up and all her music was mostly her playing the cello, i mean dont you have to actually SING to get the award?

  8. 8

Arcade Fire totally deserved it. For those who don't speak French, the band thanked the city of Montreal. Rock on! Wooot!
Thank goodness Bieber didn't win Best New Artist. My money was on Florence and the Machine. Doesn't matter if I don't know Esperanza Spalding. It's always cool to discover new artists.
I only saw a few performances. Rihanna + Eminem was good. I loved GaGa. I think she's awesome as a performer. Janelle Monae, Bruno Mars and BoB were fieeeeeeeeeerce. And damn you Hilton Hotels for cutting Arcade Fire's winning performance. That's just plain stupid.

  9. 9

what? "need you now" is one of the shittiest songs i've heard in a long time. I don't expect much from the Grammys, but, what the hell?

  10. 10

i still don't understand how GAGA can still be winning awards and even nominated for an album put out 2 years ago.. not hating on her as an artist.. i just think it doesnt make any sense!

  11. 11

Great shout out to the city of Montreal from Arcade Fire!

  12. 12

Wow this is surprising, thought you would post a crappy CaCa pic for the post. Grats for Lady A, but the song wasn't that amazing. Still thought good for them :) . CaCa should have just stayed in the egg doing coke all night.

  13. 13

i just don't understand how vampire weekend didn't win for Contra. forget about best alternative album- it was the best album of the year by leaps and bounds.

  14. 14

Re: pie107 – She plays a double bass, not a cello (she also plays electric bass as well) and is a very well known jazz musican, (well known enough to win a grammy evidently), who does sing quite frequently. She's not on mainstream radio/television that often because she is a jazz musican, and jazz music is generally played on genre specific stations. youtube her on letterman, she sings there, and is really good. I think she deserved the win, she's the most original out of all the other nominee's, and also a better overall musician (she was a professor at berkely when she was 20).

  15. 15

Re: MsJules – She was nominated for the Fame Monster because the 2011 Grammys cover September 2009-August 2010, and that came out in November 2009.

  16. 16

All I care about is the fact that Bieber got cheated out of winning that grammy. After that happened me and 7 million other people turned off the tv. I couldn't watch anymore of that trash show.

  17. 17

Bieber was robbed! Now he is too young for me. But my nieces love him. He is a good little performer. Maybe next year for him. I did like Lady Gaga performance. And I love the tribute to Aretha Franklin. Em did a great job too.

  18. 18

I LOVED all the performances. Everyone sounded great! I was really surprised by Rihanna and Katy Perry who usually don't sound so hot, but they both were great and looked beautiful. Eminem was robbed of Album of the Year. Don't get me wrong I love Lady Antebellum, but they had one good hit all year. I didn't really understand why they were winning so much. And lastly, Bieber was robbed of Best New Artist. Not saying this as a fan, but he was robbed. Of everyone in that category, he definitely did the best in 2010. I don't even care about the fact that nobody knows who Esperanza Spalding is, any one else in that category would have been a better choice for the win. That was the most disappointing award of the night in my opinion. But I'm glad Biebs was a good sport about it and congratulated her, unlike his insane fans who trashed talked her and destroyed her page on wikipedia. They should be ashamed and they give Bieber fans a bad name.

  19. 19

I didn't watch the whole show, but I agree with ZoSo15–I didn't like the lack of awards being presented during the show. As glad as I am Spalding won (she's very talented, well known or not), I almost felt bad for Beiber after seeing his face. :/ Glad Lady A won, they certainly seem very grateful for it, and they have had hits other than Need You Now. Gaga's performance kind of freaked me out, as normal as it was by her standards, but I liked the song. Jaden Smith was adorable, and I loved seeing the looks on his parents' faces! Katy Perry actually sounded pretty good, too. Loved Mumford and Sons!!!

  20. 20

So what's the difference between the record of the year and the album of the year?

  21. 21

All I have to say is:

    -Go Aretha.
-Gaga hatching and then performing was beyond epic.
-Eminem should have won a lot more; he made a huge comeback with his best material to date.
-Who the hell is Arcade Fire and why did they beat out Gaga for Record of the Year?? If their "record" is anything like the performace they gave, the Grammy's have lost all credibility, in my opinion.

  22. 22

Perez you got it wrong! You need to switch the Record of the Year winner and the Album of the Year winner. Arcade Fire got Album of the Year and Lady Antebellum got Record of the Year!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. 23

no mention of em's performance or beibers, both of which were way better than the egg lady

  24. 24

    Re: tjr3191
AGREED!! I had never heard of them and while they were performing all I could think was wow, this is garbage. Then they won the biggest award of the night?!?!!? WTF???

  25. 25

A mish mash of collabos of the musical genres is what the Grammys are now, change is good! I remember when it was like a taboo to see Dre and Snoop on stage at Grammys or AMAs! Eminem, did you ever thank the black community for creating the gift that keeps on giving, as a matter of fact has any of these white rappers? Does he feel like he’s owed something? Sure maybe a better childhood, since he looks very EMO these days. He’s gonna do just fine! PS Create your own genre of music then and we’ll call that making history alright? If we’re all asking “who the heck is Esperanza Spalding?” I guess it goes to show that we’re not so sophisticated in our musical tastes and what we are accepting as “music” these days . Lol at GaGa thanking Whitney Houston, Whitney must be like “you are welcome, now what’s wrong with your shoulders girl?” Thank gosh for Mick J and Babs, the show needed that injection of legend! Too bad Mick still can’t dance after all these decades. Still love the old guy though.

  26. 26

was anyone else wondering where all the musicians were?
    where was…
    1) Taylor Swift?- biggest country pop singer this year
    2) Taio Cruz?- if b.o.b can get in why cant he?
    3) Madonna?- I mean Cyndie Laper was fucking there…pathetic
    4) Beyonce Jay-Z?- Biggest R&B, Rap, Hip-Hop couple.
5)Rascal Flatts?-One of the most famous country bands thogh i love Lady Antebellum.

Catch my drift, pathetiv Grammys ever. In my opinion.

If I hear one more person saying that Arcade Fire didn't deserve an award and Justin Bieber did, I am going to shoot someone. I do have to admit, Bieber can play the drums and guitar, and he has on "ok voice", but he is DEFINITELY not talented enough to be the most famous musician in the world, and certainly doesn't deserve awards for his mainstream music which sounds completely the same compared to every other pop song. I am SO proud that Arcade Fire won the award, they really deserved it, and I'm so glad that the Grammys recognizes amazing musicians other than pop culture ones.
