Here we go again!
After a horrible week of getting terrible reviews and having another stunt snafu during a live performance, the producers of the Spider-Man musical have been hit with two safety violations from the New York Department of Labor.
After two performers were critically injured last year, the show's producers are required to continue following safety procedures with state officials being authorized to drop in any time. There won't be a monetary penalty, however if procedures aren't followed, the state inspectors may withdraw the variances that allow the actors to perform their stunts.
A spokesman for the show says:
"The aerial mechanisms have been outfitted with state-of-the-art safety technology that automatically stops if a performer is even a tiny bit off-course. While the ultimate goal is to minimize these stoppages, the production is not going to do so at the risk of the cast."
We don't know…still sounds really risky. It might be time to shut this production down.
