CBS Updates Grammy Reporter's Condition; She HAS Been To A Doctor

| Filed under: TV NewsSad SadGrammys

Poor thing! The last 48 hours must have been really awful for her.

Yesterday, CBS2 reporter Serene Branson dropped onto everyone's radar when her telecast from the Grammys went viral.(above) She seemed to have been experiencing some issues with her speech and many were concerned that she had suffered a stroke on air.

CBS released a statement, insisting that Serene was alright and that she was looked over by EMTs at the scene who deemed her to be healthy. However, in a new statement issued by the network, we've learned that she was taken to a doctor yesterday for further medical testing. The statement reads:

As many of you know CBS2 reporter Serene Branson experienced some health-related problems last night during our post-Grammys newscast.

She was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized.

As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home. And while Serene says she is feeling better today, she wants us to know she followed-up with a visit to the doctor for some medical tests.

Serene thanks everyone for their concern and good wishes and hopes to be back on the air very soon.

So sad! We really hope she isn't suffering from anything too serious.

We're sending you some good vibes, bb!

what i want to know is who sits in front of tv recording everything? and why?

Not all strokes manifest in the expected ways. When I suffered a mild stroke 2 years ago, the only signs of it were slightly impaired eye/hand coordination, difficulty remembering some things and a slight and temporary imbalance in my facial features. All of it was transitory and all of it was gone within a week or so. What REALLY helped was the roto-rooter job that was done on the two carotid arteries in my neck, one month apart, which completely restored blood flow and probably prevented further "events" from occurring. Only through an MRI can they diagnose what's happening in the brain.

So Perez - you were making fun of this woman? Showing your true colors were you? Shame on you!

nobody wants your vibes mario - they're hypocritical and infested with hatred

My guess would be someone dvr'd or tivo'd or whatever people do nowadays to catch something they're gonna miss. They noticed it later when they actually watched and posted it. One guy that put it up on youtube was cracking up over & rewound it and even attempted to write the gibberish. It's an honest mistake to giggle or say wtf when you don't know what's going on. Then when you realize it could have been from a medical issue you pray for the best.

do you think that cancels out your earlier mockery? didnt you claim you had recognized that your behavior could have consequences? your just the same old bully as ever.

Perez's history is to make fun of people first, then apologize and suck up later. He does not learn from his mistakes.

The speech pattern that this woman displayed in her news report was never anything to laugh at. Those who did displayed their immaturity and inability to comprehend serious events. I feel sorry for their friends and family if this is the level of their judgment, as those friends and family will be met with laughter in the face of a serious incident.

Anyone who has this sort of incident should be seen immediately by a doctor. There are treatments that can help save your life.

It might have been a Migraine, sometimes i get them really bad, and since they are neurological, they can make my speech really fucked up!

I saw the video one time and could not bear to watch it again. Seizure, migraine, TIA … whatever, this woman suffered some type of neurological event. If you're seen this type of aphasia once you'll recognize it immediately if you ever see it again. I really find it hard to believe she was evaluated and had stable vital signs (so what else is new?) and then was taken home. I find that to be pretty much of a callous disregard for what may or may not have been a serious medical condition. And you Perez … I am trying hard not to wish this as karma on you or yours because of the huge laugh you got out of this. If you had an ounce of intelligence you would have immediately noticed this was a serious medical event and certainly not a simple "HIGHlarous flub."

This plays out like the beginning of an episode of House.

if she didn't suffer a stroke why the hell did she go to a doctor? i really think she got the jitters for some reason and she fucked up on television cuz she was nervous. she should just say the reason instead of all this bullshit press about her health. it's annoying

This has happened to me before… it can be caused by migraines as well. Not as scary as it sounds!

The clip is funny to someone who does not understand what is going on. The clip is terrifying to anyone who gets that she is having a brain emergency. This is DEF not a case of nerves or intoxication. I'm surprised that the EMTs did not take her to the ER. Looks to me like stroke (although she's awfully young) or perhaps another brain disorder such as a tumor or hemorage. VERY SCARY - NOT FUNNY.

I was actually watching the news when this girl came on and I couldn't believe my ears, so I rewound to the beginning and just laughed… LOOK, this girl didn't have a fucking stroke or any kind of medical issue…

what she had was a CASE OF NERVES BEYOND HER CONTROL. She just LOST IT. People do that, and she did, and there ya go.

What's pathetic is everyone feeling sorry for her and pretending she could have a problem. How about when people on American Idol forget the lyrics or stumble and stop singing, same thing here…

SHE JUST SIMPLY FUCKED UP. Might want to work on your nerves girlfriend if you decide to have a career behind the camera.

    Re: futuremrslabeouf – TOTALLY AGREE!!!

God people, you are SO damn sensitive!! People FUCK UP sometimes, and YES, it is funny when it happens.

You can tell by her eyes, she knows she's just tanking - simple as that.
