Grammy Reporter Suffered From A "Complex Migrane," Not A Stroke

Phew! Thank goodness. We were sincerely worried for her.

Earlier this week, this video (above) went viral and national concern started to swell for the CBS 2 TV reporter, Serene Branson, whose slurred words were thought to be the result of a stroke on air. However, the chief of neurosurgery at UCLA Medical Center has come forward to reveal that Serene actually suffered from a "complex migraine" and should be fine from here on out.

Dr. Neil Martin explained to sources that this kind of severe headache can mimic certain systems of a stroke, like slurred speech, weakness and loss of vision. However, thankfully unlike with strokes, the effects of complex migraines are not long term.

We hear Serene is still taking it easy, but has informed her station that she will return to work soon after taking some much needed time off.

Good idea. Rest, bb! No doubt your job will be waiting for you when you're ready to get back to it. For now, take some time for yourself. It's been a loooooong week for you.

We're sending you loads of good vibes! Feel better soon!

You are a piece of work. You make fun of her at first saying she stumbled her lines. Then when you find out it was serious, you're sending her "good vibes." Mario, you are not Jamaican. You are a piece of shit. Always were, always will be.

Glad it wasn't a stroke. It's still horrible anyway. I had read where she had a terrible headache and her face was feeling numb before she was even on the air.

Re: iloverickymartin – why? being disingenuous to a german hacked youtube, blacklisted is better

there was this old german telephone company and i requested via telephone from my number not to be published online, i coulnd't describe what to say for unpublished though finally he said "list noire", authorities will tell you, analog telephones can't be hacked

When my brother gets severe migraines he often can't say the words he's trying to say, and ends up just saying weird half words and not really making any sense. It's very odd. The brain is so complex.
I'm really glad she'll be OK.

    I'm glad she seems OK.

However, you hypocrite, weren't you making fun of her when this first happened? Now you are saying that you were "sincerely worried about her". I wouldn't believe anything you say, even if your tongue came notarized. You should be a little more careful with your words before you start spouting out opinions about her illness, initially. You should be ashamed.

you must be feeling really bad, huh, perez? you were so quick to make fun of her at first, you huge piece of shit.

  8. 8

Glad she is alright!! I hope she gets back to work and everything works out superb for her!

Perez you are such a jerk. Enough with the fake sympathy. You flat out suck at life.

  10. 10

What you mean worried for her? You were making fun of her in the beginning!

  11. 11

Good for her! Hopefully this won't cause her any permanent damage! Keep on keepin' on sista.

Last night on Grey s Anatomy they had a character on that was misdiagnosed with a migraine but instead was actually having a stoke.

  13. 13

I knew it! Same thing happened to me last year, although they called mine a "Complicated" Migraine.

  14. 14

Perez, you're a piece of garbage. This backpedaling shows your true colors, and they are those of a snake.

  15. 15

You became concerned immediately after posting that her stroke-like symptoms were "high-larious… must see"??? What crust!

if i had to take as much time off work as she has because of migraines i wouldn't be able to hold a job. she needs to take that much time off because she had a severe migraine?? i've suffered since i was 12 years old, and have had symptoms similiar to what she had in the video. it's not a big deal, you go to bed in a dark room with a cold facecloth, take either a painkiller or a migraine drug, and you force yourself to sleep until it goes away (sometimes mine can last 3-4 days). i don't see why she'd be given THAT much time off because she had a migraine unless she's having them every. single. day. since that incident. it almost seems like there's something else going on, like this is the first time she's had one and they're concerned there is a new issue that is causing them (tumour, or something of the sort). if she's giving interviews, then she's able to work. suck it up, princess. millions of people suffer migraines every day and sometimes have embarrassing things happen in front of others (inability to speak, "surprise" vomiting all over yourself in front of coworkers) and they don't get internet-famous because of it.

It's spelt Migraine, do you not use a dictoinary? or even spell check?

BTW, no one could fake the episode that poor girl had…you could see it in her eyes something terrible was happening right before you…I am a ICU RN and you could not fake that at all…it was a classic symptom…sometimes you should just keep your judgements to yourself…but you sure pass it out don't you when it involves something personal to U Perez! You are so judgemental and not at all what you expect people to stand for when you are dishing out the PC crap!

Ugh. Am I the only one who noticed the misspelling of "migraine" and that "symptoms" was referred to as "systems." Look, I'm an editor, so I have first-hand experience with the utter shortage of intelligent writers out there. But you're making a shit ton of money off this site, so please, for the love of Christ, hire a good copy editor and get some originality writing back in this shit. If I see one more post followed up with the hackneyed term "Lolz," I'm going to shoot myself in the face. You've lost "it," Perez.
