Re: Eric92 – Britney is the modern day Madonna fool. It will ALWAYS be her era. Britney has broken more records than Christina, Gaga, Rihanna or Katy. She has sold more records and singles world wide. If Gaga's single had leaked like Britney's did, it wouldn't have sold the way it did.

Other than the fact that they're friends, the reason why Madonna didn't sue Gaga for blatantly ripping off Express Yourself is because Madonna herself borrowed from a lot of other artists like the Staple Singers and Debbie Harry. No one likes bad karma. What comes around goes around. Madonna learned that in her Kaballah. We've come to a point in the history of music where the songs being ripped off are themselves ripoffs.

If you look at some of the top selling artists and/or songs of all times, they're some of the cheesiest artists and/or songs. "Facing a guy looking at him all weird" is not a huge or important factor in the way people buy music.

She can't really sing, but the fact that she was almost always scantily clad in her videos and performances is what got people tuned in to her. Sex sells, it always has. She certainly doesn't write her own music, and she doesn't even usually sing live. I'm not denying her staying power, but she really doesn't have much talent to stand on. Pop music really isn't about talent, it's more about the show and about how many people you can hook on your bubble gum lyrics. Just about anyone can become a popstar. I am no fan of hers, but she did have a certain charisma in the beginning of her career and that's what shone through all the crappy music and ludicrous costumes that she wore. I think that she has lost some of that charisma, but she's got enough fans out there to keep her on top.

GaGa doesn’t sucks. She has sold out almost all of her tours. Madonna is bigger so of course she has sold out more of her tours. But Lady GaGa is getting there. I love this song

Goes to show you how well gorilla marketing can work. The song is upbeat and has a good beat and message, but is strictly formulaic pop with a disco/digital bent. Musically it's nothing special. It also underlines the dearth or lack of good tunes out there that can compete. Nice for her to get a number one, nonetheless.
