Simon Cowell Signs 10-Year-Old Girl After Watching Her Vid On YouTube

| Filed under: CanadialandSimon CowellYouTubeLady GaGa

There are some extremely talented kids in Canada!

Not only did Lady GaGa show her support for a young girl in Winnipeg who uploaded a beautiful performance of Born This Way on YouTube earlier this week, but now Simon Cowell has decided to back a different 10-year-old performer, Heather Russell of Toronto.

After viewing a YouTube video of Heather singing one of her original songs, Simon gave her a contract. And now the young girl is already working with producer Rob Fusari, who also produced Lady GaGa.

Wow. That's incredible. She must be extremely talented to catch Simon's eye. We can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

"She must be extremely talented to catch Simon's eye."

I wouldn't come to that conclusion so easily. Simon believes that he can make money with her, that's it.

    YEAH WINNIPEG!!!!!!!!!

Another childhood down the drain. Too bad her parents won't let her have a normal childhood before seeking a career. Her talent will only get better as she gets older.

  4. 4

    She wont go far…

Lmao, you fucking low life people… All commenting horrible things already about this little girl. You simply sit there and refresh the page every 2 seconds to comment a negative thing on EVERY post. Even if Perez posted that "World Peace is Finally Here!" you would say something totally negative and how we shouldnt be peaceful.. Go breath the fresh air outside.

And to comment about the post, this girl is SO talented, I went to her youtube channel, and holy shit… I never knew all these kids could sing SO well, and she produces her own music, writes the lyrics, plays the piano. And shes ony 10, my jesus. Im jealous :P

I actually saw videos of this girls last night! She has such a powerful and beautiful voice. She is extremely talented and gifted, I hope she goes far.

    @Nick Leclerc - I agree whole heartedly!

    I'm sick of him.

Not surprise, she was amazing. Surprised that she was just 10. That's very big.

I can tell you what the future holds for her: Next Britney Spears.

Oh geez. I just heard her. She's just screaming all the time. Don't think she is good at all. Really don't like her…she's trying toO hard to sound like Christina Aguilera. And her piano playing is HORRIBLE.

Re: Nick Leclerc – Excuse me, you bully, but people are allowed to DISLIKE her singing and think she doesn't have much talent. Even if she is 10. That's not "horrible things" that's an honest opinion of this girl's singing. If thinking a 10-year old girl won't go far in the music industry is "horrible" then why don't we give all 10-year old girls music contract - whether they can sing or not - just to be "nice". LOL. What an idiot you are.

Was the Lady Gaga plug necessary? smh

You just cant go one post without mentioning Lady Gaga.

Re: Dave Letterman - staff fuckerRe: Nick Leclerc – DL-SF: You didn't get the point, it had nothing to do with whether or not the little girl was good. It's like he said: Perez could post "World Peace is Finally Here!!" And you'll see several people saying negative shit just for the hell of it. Yes, people have the freedom to type as they please, and so on. But I mean, why do people have to find the most positive thing, like a little girl having her dreams come true, and turn it into a hate fest?? This post was supposed to bring people joy, not negativity.

Why can't kids just be kids nowadays. This is another good example of the adults only caring about how much $$ they are going to make off of this child. I can hear it now, "Hey honey, lets let Janie sing and tour and we will be rich beyond belief". Yup, that is what happens and then the next step is Oh my gosh, what did we do wrong " when the kid is either in rehab or 6 ft. under from a drug overdose. This is all just wrong. Very wrong.

    It's 2011, childhood is a choice. She's awesome.

she wasn't that good, you can hear the same in just about any jr high or elementary talent show…

Heather Russell is an amazing singer for her age! I suggest everyone looking for her on youtube, you'll be stunned.

I normally don't post on this site BUT in this case I have to chime in - I grew up with Heather's father. And if you were to look at his love of music and his talent at the same age you would see a resemblance of god given talent that has been passed down between two generations. Heather will not be another Britney or Lindsay or Miley. She has good people looking out for her, like her father, who is allowing her to fulfill her dreams of being a singer. It runs in the family. There's nothing wrong with her upbringing - she comes from a good home, with strong Canadian values, and has the support of people that love her dearly and are going to watch out for her well being. Congrats to Heather. She clearly deserves her chance at becoming the star she was born to be.
