Check out George Clooney on the cover of the new issue of Newsweek (above).

He's been getting lots of press lately after visiting Sudan to work with the UN and Google on launching satellite surveillance of the area to prevent a civil war from breaking out.

While in Sudan, he contracted Malaria, which got him even more attention.

My, how things change! Just think…this time last year, George was all over the news for his Up In The Air Oscar nomination.

Wonder what he'll be up to this time NEXT year…

Didn't the owners of this rag sell it to it's new owners for a mere buck? Nobody in the news reporting industry recognize this hack publication for being news worthy. It's glory days died sometime in the 90's. My dad use to read this when it was an actualy news mag. They put Clooney on the cover in hopes of increasing circulation at the grocery story checkout station where it will sit right between Glamour and National Enquirer.

I will give him a little bit more credit than say, Angelina Jolie and the rest of that type that fly in for 4,5 hours, photo shot and leave, and okay, he does know a lot about the Sudan, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MISSIONARIES, DOCTORS, SOLDIERS, ETC. THAT ARE LIVING THERE? I think they have a 'bit' more knowledge of the area, politics, considering that they are there 24/7 for months, years ON END! But NO! bring in the celebrity, who gets special treatment when they are there, they can tell you how it REALLY IS!

I am sure people will critize him because he's an actor. But he's doiong more than I could ever do and his efforts have my respect.

and KNOWING WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT OBAMA, he will welcome Clooney with OPEN ARMS, give him an extremely high honor, a dinner in his honor, have Justin Bieve, Paul Mac, and some rap star perform AND CHARGE $30K A SEAT! Probably while some natural disaster just took place in some part of this country.

Now, Darfur, don't know much about the subject, I will admit it, people keep saying genocide is taking place there. If the U.N. finds out that GENOCIDE has been taking during this Civil war area, it will HAVE TO GO IN WITH TROOPS. I have not heard of any troops in Darfur, so, it hasn't been proven…… proven that the ruling side, which actually is the smaller side(?) but is ARAB MUSLIM has not committed over 1 MILLION MURDERS against the south, BLACK NATIVE FARMERS who have been uprooted in many cases. Is the U.N. turning their heads? WHY HASN'T CLOONEY BEEN EVEN MORE VOCAL ABOUT THE UN BEING THROWN OUT?

it is all about money, politics and oil, and money. and yet, the majority of our oil does not come from the middle east. and yet, we process alot of the middle east oil and SEND IT BACK TO THEM. where do we get most of our oil? Canada and Mexico

CLOONEY FOR PRESIDENT…can't do any worse than the token black guy.

He's sincerely trying to make a difference. I hope they succeed. Millions will suffer if they don't.

Makes sense that Obama is asking Hollywood actors for foreign policy advice. Rahm Emanuel was Omaba's chief of staff, but his brother Ari is a big Hollywood agent (think Ari Gold, on Entourage, but not as nice).

It's great when celebs use their fame to do something good.
