Brie Larson is the real MVP!
While presenting the Best Actor award to Casey Affleck at the Oscars Sunday, the actress very pointedly didn't clap for the actor as he took to the stage to accept his award.
And people definitely noticed!
From what we've heard from Halle Berry about her family in the past, we kind of understand why she cut them off. This kind of just adds to that.
Renee Berry, Halle’s half sister, has come forward through the press to plead with Halle to reunite their family. Renee has told sources that no one from their father's side of the family has heard from her in years and she's hoping to bridge that gap now.
Renee insists that she and Halle were "very close" growing up, but that things took a turn for the worse as they became adults. In previous interviews, Halle has painted her late father, Jerome Berry, as a violent, abusive man, who enjoyed his liquor too much and would constantly beat her mother. Renee denies these claims and has since implored Halle to see beyond their past and into the future of their family. She explained:
“I’m sad to say it seems like she does not want anything to do with us. I have not spoken to her in about five years. I tried to contact her through her website, to congratulate her on her Oscar, but no one got back to me. We would love to meet Nahla. We are desperate to understand why Halle is so upset, why she feels she cannot be with us.”
Um, we think we answered that for you in the previous paragraph. Why would she want to be surrounded by people who praise a man she knew to be a monster? Sounds like a fairly toxic environment to us. Definitely doesn't sound like something Halle would want to expose her little girl to.
Maybe, once Nahla has gotten a little older, you all can reconnect and try and sort out your issues.
