Remember Soapdish? Well, It's Being Remade…

soapdish remake is coming

We suppose this was a big deal back in the early nineties, but has anybody really talked about this film anytime recently?

Guess the point is to get people talking again, because Paramount is remaking Soapdish, a 1991 comedy "which chronicled the behind the scenes at a daytime soap."

The film will be produced by Alan Greisman, who also produced the original, along with Rob Reiner.

Wonder who they'll cast for this remake. The original had a pretty great cast including Robert Downey Jr., Kevin Kline, and Sally Field, so hopefully they can find some solid talent to take over.

We're not too excited about this. Seems like one remake or reboot after another these days.

Does a remake of Soapdish do anything for you?

Is this a period piece? Haven't all the soap operas been cancelled?

With daytime dramas on their last legs, I don't see how a remake of a movie about a daytime drama can be relevant, unless they remake it to focus on the potential demise of the show.

The original was sooooo great. The cast was hilarious. They are going to ruin this film. STOP REMAKING CLASSICS! They are shit!

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who is damn sick and tired of hearing about Hollywood remaking movies. That's all they do now. They need to get off their asses and come up with some original fucking ideas. Remaking "Soapdish" is really scraping the bottom of the desperation barrel. This is pathetic. Hollywood sucks.

    The original was a flop.

In 65th grade, we voted to go see Soapdish over Robin Hood. As funny as Soapdish is, bad decision on our part. THIS could be funny.

Why didn't you mention Academy Award Winner Whoopi Goldberg? What is going on in your great hollow skull? Do you even know how to connect-the-dots?

Is this necessary. Granted it came out a while ago, but it really hasn't been that long.

Noooooooo!!! I *LOVE* this movie, it's SO funny. Some of the dialogue is so sharp, and some just bizarre. "But you won't have a brain!" "I don't care. Take it, I don't need it." // "He reattached his own head in a pioneering operation." Not to mention using actual dialogue from Dynasty in one scene. And then there's the story arc of Sally Field's character. The remake will suck like one of Charlie Sheen's hookers. LEAVE IT ALONE, HOLLYWOOD!!!!

Speaking as an elder who remembers the eighties well (lol), it WASN'T a big deal.

This movie was horrible. I can't believe how many people are saying it was good. It might actually be campy and funny to watch now though. Most of what is out today sucks anyway.
