Toyota Recalled A Huge Amount Of Cars!

| Filed under: Legal MattersTech Talk

Toyota Recalls More

We think the technical term is a "shizz load."

How much is a shizz load??

2.17 Million sounds about right!

The NHTSA said:

"As a result of the agency's review, (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) asked Toyota to recall these additional vehicles, and now that the company has done so, our investigation is closed."

Well, we're glad that this completes it!

Here's a bit about Toyota's issues:

"Toyota has now recalled more than 14 million vehicles globally to fix gas pedals and other safety problems since 2009. U.S. regulators said earlier this month that electronic flaws were not to blame for reports of sudden, unintended acceleration. The company paid the U.S. government a record $48.8 million in fines for its handling of three recalls."

That is NOT great, but they remain the #1 auto company in the world.

Let's hope they start making safer cars, and that those who own a recalled car don't get hurt before something is done about it!

Thoughts?? At this point would U still want to buy one??

I own a 2006 Toyota Yaris and it is a really good car.

Prior to production being brought to the USA, Toyotas were great vehicles with no recalls. I've owned older ones and they were amazing. Blame the recalls on American workmanship. This is a prime example of why so many Americans have refused to buy American cars. Now we have very few choices.

To be fair to Toyota, it sounds like the main problem is that the gas pedals are getting stuck in the carpets which causes unexpected acceleration. This happens when people put rubber mats ON TOP of the removable carpeted mats. Therefore, it would seem that the error mostly lies with the car owners themselves, not Toyota although they could've done a better job at warning people about this potential hazzard. When I was buying rubber car mats from my dealer, the guy there told me to remove the carpeted mats before putting in the rubber ones because it causes the pedals to stick. And this was before the Toyota findings were released.

    I love my Nissan!

Toyotas are well made cars. So there was a recall, other car manufacturers have recalls every other week for various reasons and those stories don't make front page news. This story was blown WAYYYY out of proportion, probably to try and scare the car buying public into purchasing a car from one of the other 'bailout' manufacturers.

Toyota is now in the crapper. Ford and GM are now the top car companies once again in my book. The thing is, will they backtrack and end up being sloppy again?

Additionally, I'm sorry, but I don't know how Toyota can blame this on floormats. They even went as far to say that people were probably pressing the gas pedal instead of the break which is ridiculous being as I remember one story about a Prius needing the assistance of the Police in order to stop. Bullshit, Toyota… you suck

meh I only buy GM and Ford cars just because that's what I've always driven and they work fine. Good luck with that though.

Re: tjr3191 – Actually that story is false. The man was found to have been accelerating and blamed it on Toyota to get money. There was no issue with the car. Also, the story quotes: U.S. regulators said earlier this month that electronic flaws were not to blame for reports of sudden, unintended acceleration. They went to state that they found the probable cause to be drivers pressing down on the gas pedal instead of the brake so your thoughts are wrong.

soo if they are pushing the gas pedal instead of the break SO much that there's a recall, does that mean that Toyota owners are stupid? oh wait, that's a given bc they bought a Toyota!! GM ALL THE WAY
