Regis Is Second Guessing His Decision To Leave Live

Buyers Quitters remorse? Eh, he shouldn't think that way!

Sources are claiming that a mere two months after Regis Philbin made the official announcement that he would be retiring from his long-running morning talk show, Live with Regis and Kelly, he's starting to regret his decision to leave.

Insiders close to Regis claim that he thought his announcement would open the doors for a slew of "great offers" to come his way, but so far, the phone hasn't rang once. A friend of Reg adds:

"He's 79, and everyone knows TV is a young person's game. What was he thinking? I'm sure he looked at how the public has welcomed back Kathie Lee [Gifford, his old co-star] on 'Today' and assumed they would do the same for him. But as of now, he hasn't had any great offers."

Well, maybe they'll start coming in once he gets closer to the finish line with ABC. True, if he was in real high demand, he would have been bombarded with offers from the start, but lets not forget that he is getting on in years. Maybe his people just don't want to overwhelm him right now.

Besides, like we've said before, Regis should take some much needed time off before he jumps right back into working again. He and Joy should take a cruise, putter around an island or something for a least a few months. Man's worked hard - he deserves that much.

Then, maybe if whoever they get to replace him doesn't work out, he can get back into the gig. We having a feeling he won't though. Give him enough time and he's sure to see that he made this decision for a reason.

HEY, THEY CAN ALWAYS REPLACE HIM WITH THAT PIERS MORGAN GUY FROM THE U.K. APPARENTLY SOMEBODY THINKS HE'S SPECIAL. I SURE DON'T.

Kathie Lee welcomed back? I don't think so

I still think he is getting senile and that is why he is leaving. Kathie Lee was out of sight for a long time (not long enough!) before she got the Today show gig

I'll bet he is. Betty White was on and said she was taking his job.
Nothing like perspective to make you look twice.

This story is so bullshit. Kathy Lee said in an interview that they had lunch right after Regis announced he was leaving and that the whole reason he was leaving was because he is 80 years old and wanted to live out the rest of his life doing whatever he wanted with no schedule. He just wanted to retire and do whatever made him happy with his time. Why do I know this but Perez doesn't?

When you use the term "retire", people take that to mean you are seeking to stop working and enjoy your Golden Years relaxing. However, you knew something had to be up when after his announcement he immediately fired his long time agent to move to powerhouse agency WME. If he was retiring, why would he need new representation? Not too long ago, Regis was in great demand. Hosting not only Live, but practically every new game show being launched in prime time. Although I doubt he is regretting his decision to leave Live, he may regret saying he was retiring since it made it seem like he no longer wants to work.
