Oscars Cancelled Potentially Funniest Part Of Show

Arnett Streak Shut Down

People don't seem to be too enthralled by James Franco and Anne Hathaway's hosting debut last night, which is a total bummer.

We could place blame on any number of reasons. From writing to timing, it seems like there's a list of them.

But the only thing we REALLY want to blame is the lack of HIGHlarious nudity!

Apparently, Arrested Development's Will Arnett wanted to recreate one of the most infamous moments of Oscar history…

… to streak the show like the one that happened during the 1974 show!

Here's a bit about it:

"Producers planned for actor Will Arnett, who starred in Arrested Development, to recreate the [streaking] moment as a part of this year's show, according to New York Magazine.

However, ABC ultimately decided to nix the idea due to the fear that pixellation would fail during the live broadcast. If that were to happen, the network would face a substantial fine from the FCC."

What a lame reason! That delay is in place for a reason!

LOLz!

The Academy president even talked a bit about it:

"Any time you pay homage to those moments, I think it's great. ABC wouldn't allow it, and I understand why, but I would have laughed. I would have been shocked, but then I would have laughed."

We would have too!

Would U have thought it was funny or offensive??

Good idea to nix it. It's one thing to try and do something contraversial, but it's another to stage it. It would have been a huge embarassement had it been discovered it was a planned event.

THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO FUNNY!!

They could have had him wear a flesh-colored thong or something, and then pixelated over the thong, which would have given the TV audience the impression he was naked, but wouldn't have caused too big of a problem if the pixelation failed.

I don't think it would've been that funny, but it definitely would not have been offensive.
I don't know why people put so much pressure on the hosts to be incredibly funny, because that presupposed that the Oscars are usually a night filled with humour, which just isn't the case. they'd have to do a real overhaul to make it actually funny, but I don't think they are willing to do that because it would jeopardize the safety of it. which is fine. I don't know, I tune in for the Oscar gowns and to see who won in the main categories, and to chat with my friends about the movies on this one night. I like when there is the occasional funny moment, but if the majority of the show is a bit dull I certainly don't blame the hosts, and it's pretty much what I expect anyway.

They couldn't come up with a tight flesh colored body suit in Hollywood?
