Two And A Half Men Producer/Show Creator Chuck Lorre Responds To Charlie

chuck lorre responds to charlie sheen

Two and a Half Men producer/show-creator Chuck Lorre is known for placing "vanity cards" at the end of his shows, wherein he basically says whatever he wants.

They swing by the screen VERY quickly, and in Lorre's latest episode of Mike & Molly, he responds to Charlie Sheen on one of his vanity cards:

I understand that I'm under a lot of pressure to respond to certain statements made about me recently. The following are my uncensored thoughts. I hope this will put an end to any further speculation.

I believe that consciousness creates the illusion of individuation, the false feeling of being separate. In other words, I am aware, ergo I am alone. I further believe that this existential misunderstanding is the prime motivating force for the neurotic compulsion to blot out consciousness.

This explains the paradox of our culture, which celebrates the ego while simultaneously promoting its evisceration with drugs and alcohol. It also clarifies our deep-seated fear of monolithic, one-minded systems like communism, religious fundamentalism, zombies and invaders from Mars. Each one is a dark echo of an oceanic state of unifying transcendence from which consciousness must, by nature, flee.

The Fall from Grace is, in fact, a Sprint from Grace. Or perhaps more accurately, 'Screw Grace, I am so outta here!'

Questions?

Pret-ty deep stuff, Chuck. We can only BEGIN to imagine how Charlie might respond to all of that!

Thoughts???

    Old News.

    This man is crazy.

He is ashamed of his own race.

    Read his "Vanity Card" ramblings.

The stations even admit to having to 'edit' them

    This man is soooooo crazy.

  2. 2

    Is he speaking in riddles?

  3. 3

I rally feel for these behind the scenes people. They do 90% of the work and they have to hire A-holes like Charlie or Tom Cruise to get a green light. Then these actors can black mail them or ruin the project if their asses aren't licked the right way.

  4. 4

    Haha…awesome response to Sheen's drivel.

  5. 5

Well, I guess now we know why Charlie is so upset! This Chuck Lorre guys sounds like he's poured community college level philosophy into a blender and god a big old batch or "word salad" surprise. What kind of an asshole would put up Vanity Cards like that on his #1 money maker and then come back with an idiotic statement like that? Talk about avoidance! You are an idiot Chuck Lorre….

  6. 6

In laymen terms, he's saying Charlie's zonked out of his mind.

  7. 7

He's just using Charlie's lingo so that Charlie would understand. LOL.

  8. 8

It sort of makes sense until you consider it in the context of Charlie Sheen, at which point it begins to sound like pseudointellectual drivel. Is he saying that all of Sheen's problems stem from a refusal to accept his interconnectedness to anything? Okay, maybe that's fair, but if Lorre is serious about embracing his communion with humanity, there damn well better be some severance pay for 2.5 Men crew members coming out of Lorre's fat pockets. Also, is he seriously equating overcoming egotistical anomie with bowing down to zealots and/or zombie overlords? Finally, if drug/alcohol addiction is a defense against the "fall from grace" that is psychological isolation, isn't he basically defending that addiction? You know what? Screw it. I'm just going to dismiss the whole thing as pseudointellectual drivel.

After watching Charlie on Piers Morgan last night, and Charlie actually didn't sound like a crazy person for a change I am starting to feel a bit different. I still think Charlie is a douche, but I don't think Lorre needs to feed into is craziness. After all he is responsible for all these jobs & he has a hit show here. Maybe Charlie is right, Lorre is a bigger douche bag than he is.

  10. 10

You morons who are taking what he says seriously are idiots. I like this guy!

  11. 11

They're both NUTS! Believe it or not, Charlie makes more sense. Lorre is an egomaniac

  12. 12

um HUH?!!? u just as f*@&!&ing crazy as charlie sheen.

  13. 13

They both need an intervention. Sadly Charlie follows Alex Jones a radio host in Austin who is riding the tail of Charlie right now for his own self promotion and money. Charlie is a father and is daughters will grow up the opposite of his actions or exactly like him. Is it all worth it to possible have his daughters grow up doing exactly the same thing. The future will tell.

  14. 14

Do I understand what he's saying? Yes. But what an extremely goofy statement.

  15. 15

I think I actually see why Charlie was driven to drugs after reading what this guy wrote. What a Tool!

  16. 16

Wordy, but an approprate response to "Charlie-ese." Since Charlie failed to graduate from high school, however, I doubt he'd get it.

  17. 17

I'm thinking that it was sarcasm directed toward Charlie and his odd ramblings.

  18. 18

    What a pretentious douche.

    19

Old news. Your entry is misleading - it implies a response to Charlie's demand letter which it's not.

  20. 20

Sheen said this: He made the studio a billion dollars thus far. He made Lorre half a billion dollars thus far. More than likely true for the duration of the show's run.

Re: DJ Wonderman – wise choice :-)

  22. 22

I like how he denounces communism, given the fact that his entire industry is run by communists!

  23. 23

why must we, as a viewing audience, continue to reward a man like Charlie Sheen for being a pig, by tuning in to watch his latest stints in his personal life and encourage him by watching him on his show. He thinks he can show up to work drugged up because he can get through a performance? That is breaking his contract and it is wrong wrong wrong! Chuck Lorre, the staff, crew, and his fellow actors don't deserve to have to walk on eggshells around him because of his lifestyle and his MASSIVE EGO. Bye Charlie! Go get your life and your priorities in order. If you would rather spend the holidays with porn stars and strippers than with your own young children, then something is amiss.

  24. 24

Chaim hasn't answered anything. He went on a tangent talking about philisophical psycho-babble, which does get the mind thinking, but in no way addresses Charlie Sheen.

  25. 25

I can see how there's a personality conflict here. Both men seem to feel they have The Answers and a level of insight into reality which is not actually afforded human beings. Clash of the Titans. And if Lorre (Levine) is in AA he probably feels that his 'Higher Power' is behind him. AA is a religious cult. Seems like two of a kind on opposite sides of a line that will never be resolved.

    26

    What the fuck is that??

  27. 27

interesting … but one word of advice, if you ever visit the set of two-and-a-half (baked) men—Don't drink the Kool-aid kids!!

  28. 28

He said nothing, and addressed nothing. Typical.

  29. @v@ says – reply to this

    29

Only in California. What's in the water there? Whoa, and I mean the both of them. I certainly wouldn't twin uber-capitalist Sheen with Communism, religious fundamentalism, zombies and invaders from Mars even by remote association.
That would be denied, of course, but there it is, up there in that statement.

  30. 30

Only crazy charlie can make an incredible a**hole like Chuck seem sympatheric. All Hollywood know Chuck Lorre stole this show from a young writer and claimed it as his own. WB was complicit and bought off the boy. makes Charlie look good.

    31

    Re: kittendom – Good insight.

  32. 32

They say Charlie Sheen is talking jibberish, which he isn't, he actually is very clear but what the hell is this Chuck guy on about ?

  33. @v@ says – reply to this

    33

You know what? The lawsuits are going to be mega costly for either side. Add the loss in ad revenue, employment for 300, and future syndication for this year's remaining episodes and possibly next year's episodes. Are they nuts?
Mediation or Lorre moving on to another sound stage and another show ought to do it.

  34. 34

When did the "In Living Color" prison guy start writing for CBS?

  35. 35

    This is a response?

  36. 36

most likely he is an ACIM student…

  37. 37

This can't actually be true. This is an actual statement? Possibly the dumbest thing Lorre could have said. He had everyone on his side. Now they BOTH seem totally mental. They deserve each other.

  38. 38

Re: tallguy10Most of the dumbasses in here don't get it so Charlie definitely won't.

  39. 39

He is a comedy writer, I cannot believe the education level of everyone here, wait actually I can, I am on Perez. Back to reddit I go.
