ABC Cut Josh Brolin And Javier Bardem Kissing At The Oscars!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayPenelope CruzJavier BardemJosh BrolinOscarsLGBT

Again?! Seriously?!

Come on, guys!

Although the Academy Awards were an absolute snoozefest this year, it apparently didn't deter ABC from cutting one of the only interesting moments from the live telecast — Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem's 'gay kiss!'

When the two men walked out onto the stage at the ceremony, viewers at home only saw them engage in a brief dance before the camera jumped to an extended, awkward shot of Penelope Cruz - and that's because in actuality, the two men - who are actually close friends in real life - shared a little comedic mouth action!

ABC has refused to comment on the issue, and we think that it's frankly pretty shitty! For a network that airs a show like Brothers & Sisters, we have no idea why they continue to censor this sort of thing (anyone remember the Glambert debacle?)

Such an unbelievable shame, especially after the events of this past year. Get it together, guys.

Im not homophobic in any means but there are still a lot of people out there that are not comfortable with seeing two men or two women kiss on air. ABC is a family tv channel.

Im up for Gay rights but seriously, it takes time for people to adjust to the changes in society. I feel like it's like the segregation period. It took people awhile to accept that people of different race had the same rights as the whites. Does that make sense?

Please, stop cramming gay rights down our throats. In time everyone will be accepted.

    they showed brittany and madonna

  3. 3

Your country is SO fucked up!

  4. 4

You dont want EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL, you want special treatment. Its because MOST people dont want to see that! It sickens the majority of the planet. End of. As a minority you can scream loud enough that people think youre in the majority but u aint. You cant control what most people think, and that makes you mad, because most people dont want to see that. they dont rly care about gay rights one way or another, they might even agree with your sdtatements, but they dont want to see that or have anyones agenda shoved down their throat. That when resentment happens.

And to think, we have until 2021 for that to change.

    Fuck off, ABC.

2 things - it's a family show and it's an international show. Many of the countries that broadcast the show have little to no LBTG rights. Is that ok? No, but it could cost ABC millions by losing those countries for the next Oscars. There are better ways to make these countries more tolerable of human rights, but an awards show isn't the way to go.

actually two straight men kissing as a joke kinda mocks homosexuality doesn't it?

  8. 8

People don't like gays. Deal with it. You'll never have the "equality" you cry for because the VAST majority won't allow it.

  9. 9

you live in the bubble that is California. the majority of Americans don't agree with a large percentage of the things you say or believe. abc is a family channel. quit whining and do something more productive.

  10. 10

Yes it’s a family show, but that was not the type of kiss that will lead to stripping of clothes and more ‘intimate’ touching (these 2 men are straight if that even matters). I don’t even know if a kiss between 2 men or 2 women will even feature in a child’s mind – unless the adults watching with them makes a big deal about it. PS: it seems okay for shows to broadcast women kissing (e.g. Madonna, Britney, Xtina) and then replayed on the news channels, over the internet, screen shots emailed around.

  11. 11

Why is it so hard for you to understand that at least 80% of America has no desire to see two men kissing?? I used to be a lot more open minded on the topic but I am so SICK of having this issue shoved down my throat I am starting to find it all repulsive. I see nothing wrong with homosexuality but no matter what anyone says it is not NORMAL and does not belong in mainstream society. Whether you like it or not does not matter normalcy and mainstream are the basis of civilized behavior. If the gay community doesn't start backing off they will face a severe backlash.

  12. 12

people are not comfortable with gay displays of affection, primarily because it does not follow the natural order. Much like there is always going to be prejudice between races, there is always going to be prejudice against gays. You can minimize it, but you'll never eliminate it. It's human nature. Two dicks don't fit.

Re: mackypoo – Where are you from? You base an entire country because an ill-advised, awkward scene was cut? The gay kiss has been done enough. Just because you're probably gay and would like to see it doesn't mean we all do.

  15. 15

really Glambert? He got a faux blow job on primetime TV- they don't even say "blow job" on tv shows- its oral sex.

  16. 16

Yeah, it's a family show but seriously.. Everyone knows these two men are straight so it really shouldn't be a big deal. If a child sees two men kissing, do you think they're going to go try it? Maybe.. but is it wrong? If a child sees a man and woman kiss, and they want to go try it, is that wrong too? A kiss is a kiss, people. I swear! Sometimes I dislike my country. It's the 21st century, for heaven sakes!

  17. 17

When are people going to get over this? I could care less if my children saw two men kissing. I know in 50 years we will all look back and think "What took so long?". I'm straight and that's who I am. I don't understand why the ignorant don't accept who gay people are.
I'm at a point in my life where I'm starting to question more out of life. I'm struggling on this anger and hate we see among humans. I really wish people would get over themselves.
I joined up just to post this comment. I've only done this once before. I want to be the type of person who says something when something needs to be said.
Let's be positive people and be kind to one another!

  18. 18

i'm gay and i'm so sick of you making us all look like whiny bitches mario. who the HELL cares if they didn't show 2 men kissing…its the oscars…not an LGBT awards show you idiot. i really don't care and for you to say they cut the "only interesting moment" from the telecast…i hardly think thats true, you meant to say it was the only interesting thing for YOU…and the oscars isn't about pleasing your views or the gays, its about celebrating the year in entertainment. dumbass.

    Re: tenyearsgone

    I agree with you 100%!!!

  20. 20

In Russia two men can kiss on the mouth and nobody will even notice. It is part of their national ways of being sociable. In Russia it is almost forbidden to be homosexual, yet they think nothing of two men kissing on the lips. And why not ? In the good old U.S. it is quite the contrary. Homos are well accepted but don't you dare kiss publicly ! Where is the problem ?

  21. 21

"EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL." Can you stop fucking whining for once? ABC didn't air a "gay" kiss, so what?, that doesn't deny any gays from any rights whatsoever. Shutup.

  22. 22

    That's hot.

  23. 23

I like how the liars say "i'm not homophobic but . . .""I'm gay, but I don't like to see it" A gay person would never say that. You idiots can't even lie sufficiently.
Yes gay makes people uncomfortable, and they will never get comfortable until THEY GET USED TO SEE IT. What black people waited til white people were "comfortable" with sitting next to them on a bus, or eating at the same restaurant, or drinking from the same water fountain. America doen't give any group of people ANYTHING you have to fight for your rights in the country. The Japanese had to do it when they arrived, then the Irish had to fight, then the Italian had to fight, Then the Jews, Then Blacks, now the Muslims, gays, and Latinos have to get bitten by dogs (xenophobes), sprayed by fire hose, threatin and beatin. THE MORE YOU LIARS (which shows your level of intellect) HOLD GAY PEOPLE BACK THE MORE WE WILL PRESS ON, BECAUSE. . . WE . . . . ARE . . . .AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. 24

    Good lord, AGAIN?!
First Adam Lambert, now this… ridiculous.

  25. 25

Two men kissing, two women kiss, a man and a woman kissing…honestly I don't wanna see any of it on an awards show, it's just not the place for it.

  26. 26

    Re: santhi92 – I agree.

  27. 27

  28. 28

im sure if it was two women, they wouldve showed it more than once

  29. 29

DEAR YENNY87, NEVER in the history of the civil rights movement/human rights movement has progress been achieved by standing idle. Segregation was not advanced by white people accepting that other races deserved equal rights. Protests, dialogue, calling out injustices, etc was required (still is) to achieve all progress made.

Your staement is the kind of thinking that sets us back, and denotes homophobia. does the camera shy away from a heterosexual couple kissing? Furthermore, your statement "ABC is a family tv channel", GUESS WHAT I belong to a family. I have a mother, father, brother, nieces, cousins, etc. Your comment is sad!!

  30. 30

So many erroneous statements and generalizations. Where is this statistic of "80%" of Americans have no desire to see two men kiss? There has been a growing trend in support of LGBT rights. California narrowly won Prop 8 and it is being challenged out of the growing support for LGBT people. Such biggotry on here. If you have a problem with homosexuality that is your problem. My rights are not up to your decision making!
