Melissa Leo The First Oscar Winner To Drop The F-Bomb During Speech!

What a distinction! Ha!

Believe it or not, when Melissa Leo dropped the F-bomb during her acceptance speech for the Best Actress win at this year's Academy Awards, she was the first winner in Oscar history to let one slip on stage!

She blames the flub on shock, and explains:

"I find that shocking! I grew up with it as a part of my vernacular. I accepted it as that, I brought my son up that way…but I also told him, ‘Not in front of grandma!’"

Check out her acceptance speech (above)!

Ha! Hey - these things to happen by accident sometimes, and honestly, it was relatively harmless in the grand scheme of things, so we wouldn't be too worried!

However, we imagine that the Academy will be sure to put you on a five second delay at next year's big ceremony! LOLz!

We'd consider that ANOTHER honor, though!

Congrats again, gurl!

Thoughts??

Not cool. If you don't use it all the time, you won't slip. You are contributing to the moral decline of your society. Shame on you.

Best SUPPORTING actress. For being one of the most visited websites on the web, you don't seem to have an editor to speak of.

@UstinkA Fuck? Saying 'fuck' is leading to the downfall of our civilization? This is bad satire, right? Words are only offensive if you give them that power. Someone can 'cuss' around you in another language and you'd have no idea. Morals are subjective. Oh Dog, please be satire.

People in the US are so uptight. Who FUCKING cares.

  4. 4

Thankfully, we will never hear about this person again. For being just a great actress, it's strange she was unable to put together a few coherent sentences for her speech. and she looked like cheap trash in that getup.

  5. 5

why dress up in a lace tablecloth and walk the red carpet if all u are going to do is talk like a stink ass mole cant she even be civil for one night …

  6. 6

I blame it on her being a no-class bitch. Can't stand her

  7. 7

    Re: gnarly8

    Couldn't agree more!

  8. 8

Sorry, speeches should be short and classy…she's not.

  9. 9

Why is everyone being so rude? Yes she did drop the f-bomb, but it was a mistake from being extremely nervous! I'm sure that would happen to all of us

  10. 10

meh, it happens. So what, she said "fuck." Big freaking whoop! It's just a word and I probably would have said it too. I mean, she was clearly shocked! And it was refreshing to see someone act so naturally. You know, not be so freaking up tight and pull out a speech and act all prim&proper

  11. 11

Her speech was not only classless, it was completely overacted. There was nothing spontaneous in her dropping the F bomb or any of the other gestures of feigned shock she put on.

  12. 12

does anybody even care anymore that kids shouldn't hear this stuff? Just dont even try to watch anything on TV? If the Oscars can't have some standards, no hope for the rest of it.

  13. 13

Not impressed. A trashy mouth is like sex. Nothing unique about it. Every human can do it. Big deal. A bigger deal is to be an example to the fans who support you and especially to be a mother who teaches their children values.
Sadly, I will not look forward to following Ms. Leo's career. She is another sheep and there is nothing special about her.

  14. 14

That was the best part of the Oscars. But it was a little tacky dropping the f-bomb during a classy ceremony. Hope it doesn't become routine.

  15. 15

This is a once in a lifetime kind of award so why mess it up with the f- bomb.
I understand she was in shock, but still. She must have had some of feeling she would win b/c of the golden globe and buzz that she will win an Oscar.

Such a shame. She may never have this opportunity and how embarrassing to do this at the Academy Awards.

  16. 16

I don't buy the "in shock" excuse. She had already one other awards. She was one of the nominees for this award. Actors learn hundreds of pages of dialogue. How hard would it have been to assume she had a chance of winning and therefore, might think in advance of something classy and clever to say instead of getting up on the stage and acting like you had just landed on another planet.

  17. 17

Her dress was more offensive than her use of the F word!

  18. 18

Her shock and speechlessness was phony. She deliberately dropped the f-bomb for the attention value. Everything about what she did on stage was as calculated as her personal ad campaign. Don't like her at all. She may have talent, but she doesn't seem to have character.

Oh, and she won for best actress in a SUPPORTING role…Natalie Portman won the Best Actress prize.

  19. 19

YOU'RE POSTING THIS 24 HOURS AFTER IT HAPPENED?!?!
    .
Might as well post that earcth is NOT flat. I bet that too is news to many.

  20. 20

It wasn't an "accident", she leaned into the mike to say it.

  21. 21

Wow! Ok, so she dropped the f bomb. I think she was overwhelmed
With Kirk Douglas and shocked that she won! Everyone judges but really most of us prob would've said the same thing; meeting a LEGEND like Mr.Douglous then Getting an Oscar handed to you!! Give her a break! BFD!!!!

  22. 22

such a classy lady! She's gross. Fortunately, I doubt we will see her in any mainstream movies.

  23. 23

Calm down! Its ridiculous how uptight people are about this! So what she swore? She was genuinely surprised on winning and was shocked. BTW I like her dress actually. At least she's not afraid to try new and styles instead of conforming to what people deem 'fashion' to be.

  24. 24

I swore as a kid that I was going to be the first to say it on the air accepting the award. Oh well, at least she was real about it!

  25. 25

She put the ass in class.

  26. 26

Melissa Leo now joins Vice-President Biden among the elite who have used the "F" word on television. Last year the Vice-President introduced President Obama in the East Room of the White House immediately after Congress passed the health care bill. Remember: "Mr. President, this is a big f—— deal." Is it possible that Melissa Leo was auditioning to be President Obama's running mate in 2012?

  27. 27

Why do I get the impression that it was totally calculated to get press? I don't know, it just seemed so…CONTRIVED.

  28. 28

I love her. She's weird! She was so great as Alice in The Fighter. She and the wolfpack of sisters stole the show. The Oscar was truly deserved.
But I've noticed the pissy reactions from Wahlberg and his Planet of the Apes bitch Helena Bonham Carter. Eff them.

  29. 29

    i fucking loved it! :D
