Stephen King Takes On JFK Assassination In New Novel!

new stephen king novel on the way

This is a REALLY interesting premise, and we can already imagine it as a movie!

In Stephen King's new novel, which comes out on Nov 8th, a thirty-five year old high school English teacher travels through time on a mission to prevent the JFK assassination.

It seems kind of like Back to the Future, only the stakes are MUCH higher! Cool!

Wanna hear more about the book? Check out the full synopsis AFTER THE JUMP!

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas,
President Kennedy died, and the world changed.

If you had the chance to change history, would you?
Would the consequences be worth it?

Jake Epping is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, who makes extra money teaching adults in the GED program. He receives an essay from one of the students—a gruesome, harrowing first person story about the night 50 years ago when Harry Dunning’s father came home and killed his mother, his sister, and his brother with a hammer. Harry escaped with a smashed leg, as evidenced by his crooked walk.

Not much later, Jake’s friend Al, who runs the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to 1958. He enlists Jake on an insane—and insanely possible—mission to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson and his new world of Elvis and JFK, of big American cars and sock hops, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake’s life—a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

I love everything Stephen King writes because he's just that good, but this does sound wicked cool.

Stephen King's new novel seems to be a bit familiar. I saw something like it on a scifi tv show once - not sure which one, but the plot was extremely similar. A school teacher went back in time to prevent JFK's assassination and did - later learning that he was a decendant of JFK's.

Strange synopsis. Like, what does that first part of it (Harry's story) have to do with anything? And the whole JFK story is a bit reminiscent of an old Quantum Leap episode.

It sounds like a good story. Hopefully a movie will follow. I'm still hoping the make a movie from the Dome book!

how lame! i normally don't hate king's books but this is just tiring…i guess when you pump out that many novels, you start to lose your edge…
and what is with the bolding of every name? i mean really does it serve a purpose? maybe i need to go back to school and learn the new grammatical rules that say that proper nouns are no longer capitalized, now they are just bolded and sometimes hotlinked
