Blade Runner Sequel AND Prequel In The Works

blade runner sequel in the works

We're sorry, but we don't think this is a good idea AT ALL. This move seems all types of sacrilege to us.

On Wednesday, Alcon Entertainment announced that they've almost secured the rights to Blade Runner prequels, sequels, and "other projects."

Here's what Alcon had to say about it in a written statement:

"…This is a major acquisition for our company, and a personal favorite film for both of us. We recognize the responsibility we have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce. We have long-term goals for the franchise, and are exploring multi-platform concepts, not just limiting ourselves to one medium only.”

While there's something cool about exploring the Blade Runner universe further, we're very concerned that this could ruin the integrity of the original.

We'll give you credit if you can prove us otherwise, Alcon, but for now we remain EXTREMELY skeptical.

Do U think they should make more Blade Runner movies?

WHY ISN'T PEREZ REPORTING JLO KNOCKED GAGA FROM THE #1 SPOT ON ITUNES…

POOR PEREZ, HE MUST BE CRYING IN A CORNER LOL

In the late Fifties Phillip K. Dick wrote Bladerunner- a sci-fi tale from a golden period, or at least blooming era…so we have an "Alien" situation. A movie kicks some butt and we get a prequel and numerous sequels. Since Hollywood seems to be stuck on making movies out of comic books (and prequels- and sequels) and animations of real and faked childrens tales as well as redoing older movies- maybe something interesting to watch will hatch.
I mean I didn't go gaga for the original True Grit. When I was young I didn't appreciate the very over exposed John Wayne. He would always play himself in whatever era or storyline. While I never read the book I believe JBs played the more robust character from the book…

Ugh, isn't there an original thought in Hollywood these days?

will it be based on the the Philip K. Dick short story, or just the movie? They're pretty different. hmph.

There are already multiple "Blade Runner" movies with all the director's cuts and other versions of the original film that have been released over the years.

Despite its faults, I'm happy with the 1992 version and won't be paying any attention to any prequels, sequels or other projects based on one of my favorite films of all time.

Movie Blade Runner is not just about the storyline. It is a perfect harmony of scenes, lighting, and music - entire soundtrack by Vangelis, it is a piece of art. Deep and complex storyline is an added bonus. You can never recreate this movie. Anything new created with new filming technology and whatever sound is just going to be a separate si-fi movie, borrowing the title. I guess these guys don't understand why Blade Runner is so different and special.
