David Cook Records Contestant Kick-Off Song For Next Season Of American Idol

| Filed under: TV NewsMusic MinuteAmerican IdolPerezTVDavid Cook

Curious to hear what losing will sound like on Season 10 of American Idol?

Season 7 winner David Cook has recorded the contestant "kick-off" song (above) which is an updated version of Simple Minds' 1985 hit Don't You (Forget About Me).

Some may call it sacrilege, but we're thinking many people will enjoy hearing Cook's cover of the '80s classic song as contestants are kicked off the show.

Do U approve of the new Idol contestant "kick-off" song?

Yes, yes, yes, yes! So excited to see David gets the "boot" song! :) Can't wait for people to get kicked off so I can listen to this each week! Loved this song back in the day and it's even better coming from him. He is amazing! Just preordered his CD and dowloaded this song for free. Love me some David Cook. He is hot, hot, hot! :)

That's a great choice. I've always loved that song eversince the Breakfast Club came out. The younger people might not know it, but it's a classic.

Not nearly as good as the original…sorry dave

With music as in film: stop the remakes, be original.

I only liked the first 30 seconds of the original anyway. At least i can get through the entirety of cook's version.

Great cover…no other artist could have done it better. David's album is available for pre-order. He was asked to do this cover about two weeks ago to be the boot song. (Carrie Underwood did Motley Crue's Home Sweet Home a couple years back)

They probably could have used a song from his upcoming album but it probably wasn't ready yet…but any new music from such a great artist is welcome…I have been waiting for over two years for new music from Mr. Cook.
