Bob Dylan Given The OK To Perform In China!

bob dylan given ok to perform in china

Bob Dylan fans in Asia, rejoice! China has decided to allow him to perform in their country.

Last April, Dylan was forced to cancel Asian tour plans because the Chinese government did not approve of his "politically charged" lyrics.

Now, China has changed their mind, and it looks like Dylan will probably "play his first concerts in mainland China this Spring."

Pret-ty exciting! We'll look forward to hearing more details when they arise.

Will U go see Bob Dylan perform in China?

I saw hiim live in Hamburg, Germany in 2007, it was really rad. I would never ever go to China, though, I would never put my money in the hands of that government! EQUALITY FOR ALL!!

he has always been so overrated and now he cant sing at all..just a nasal rasp…you would have to pay me a ton just to sit through one song..good riddance, hope he stays over there…he was the LOW point of the grammys for sure.

Re: nyalan – ok you need to have the internet taken away from you because you're clearly too dumb to use it. if you took your head out of the sand for a moment, you'd realise that dylan's career is not built on the quality of his singing voice, rather his incredible ability to write beautiful poetry and put it to music. if you'd like to hop on the "dylan can't sing, he's a fraud" bandwagon, i think its standing room only. personally, i prefer to make up my own mind.

who in their right mind would pay to see him anymore ???

  6. 6

He's a massive talent but his voice is clearly shot.

  7. 7

You guys suck. His newer voice is epic. Especially on the recent studio albums. He has never been well known for his voice rather than his songwriting which is brilliant.

  8. 8

He sucks. He has never been able to sing, nor can he write a decent song.

He should be exported along with the gays

Re: amycakes86 – ha well make up your own mind and realize he sucks…get over it..you can wish all you want that he is great..guess what, you just follow those fools that say oh he is so bad it must be good…he sucks..goodbye go away…hate his voice and his stupid songs.

Re: nyalan – i have a masters degree in american folk music, therefore trust myself to be a better authority on this subject than you. you appear to be one of those people who is unable to put music into context, thus forms an opinion based on how pretty a song sounds. pete seeger never had a particularly good voice and neither did woody guthrie. then again, you probably aren't aware of those artists and i'm not about to waste my time educating you.

Re: icefire227 – i was going to write a detailed response. however, you managed to render your own argument invalid with your last 4 words, so now i don't have to bother. thanks!

Re: amycakes86 – well u said it all….i HATE folk music…’bout the only worse than country…folk is not as rich as you think…wasting time and probably government dollars on a dumb folk music degree…and listen sister..i know who seeger and guthrie are too…pot smoking weirdos that write hayseed lyrics that people like you with nothing better to do interpret into all this and that….i love it when the only defense someone has is i have a degree..big deal…i can appreciate some of the small town mountain folk that has lasted..appreciate…not like…so anyways..guess what…dylan still sucks..there are so many better artists and song writers and singers…get off your stuffy dried out folk horse and check out some other music. and have a nice day. i just really dont like dylan..only folk i think i liked was…am i correct some burl ives and early early dolly's influence..i guess tolerated….ha.

Re: nyalan – it really upsets me how ill-informed that whole rant was, so i'm just going to leave you in your little vitriol filled cocoon and get on with my own life. a couple of things i wish to correct you on though. i paid for my own MA with my own money, which i earned myself and do not see it as a waste of time. this is because i wake up every day knowing that i'm doing something i enjoy. i'm also british and seeing as your dollar is comparatively weaker than my currency, i'll enjoy my next shopping trip in your country.

Re: nyalan – Dylan's legend is all about his songwriting and lyrics and was never about his singing ability. His lyrical and poignant address of contemporary issues in the 60's included the civil rights movement, resonanced nuclear apocalypse which truly marked an important new direction in modern songwriting, blending a stream-of-consciousness, imagist lyrical attack with a traditional folk form. His songs addressed stories of injustice, and brought impassioned political consciousness and along with other joining artists, mobilizing protest within that generation to the pressing issues of the day including the Viet Nam war. Read his bio and eat your words.

I saw him in Gainesville and he sucked. You could barely figure out what songs he was singing, and the stadium was half empty by the end. Oh well, at least I'll get to tell my kids I saw a legend

Re: amycakes86Re: amycakes86 – So you're pulling the "I'm more educated" card? WOW. The lyrics are great, but my ears cannot take the awful noises coming out of his mouth. If you had seen him lately (which I have) you would know that even though his words are insightful and poetic, you can't even understand a single one of them. He's rearranged the melody of the songs to make them nearly unrecognizable. As a lifelong fan of Dylan, I was totally ripped off.

Re: Seemer – That's not good. The guy needs to do some cardio or/and work with a vocal coach. He has plenty to say.
