Mike Starr Mixing Medications Before His Passing.

Truly heartbreaking.

Mike Starr, the Alice In Chains bass player who was tragically found dead yesterday, was reportedly mixing methadone and anxiety medications only hours before his passing.

According to his roommate, the musician was using methadone recently in an effort to get sober, but had also been taking anxiety meds to battle issues resulting from an arrest last month.

He reveals:

"Mike was a beautiful person who was fighting to stay sober…I am going to miss him greatly."

So unbelievably sad. We guess as hard as he tried, he never could overcome his addictions.

Our thoughts stay with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Something tells me you have NO IDEA who or what Alice in Chains is.

  4. 4

no one deserves to die, but he was very disrespectful on the show.

  5. 5

Why is it heartbreaking? Why is it "tragic?" An addict, or former addict died. Death is a normal thing. It's routine. Sounds as though he did something stupid. And he didn't "pass," he died. You can pass gas, you can pass an exam, you can pass a car on the freeway, you can pass muster, but if you die, you die. sayonara!

The masses need to stop taking the Global Elites prescribed potions and see what is really going on.

  7. 7

LetttyB, a little angry with the world, are we? Leave Perez alone. He is a sincerely nice guy, and it's unhappy people like yourself that look ridiculous criticizing sincerity.

He was mixing medication before passing. Are you serious? Only genteel old southern ladies use the phrase "passed" and then they're usually talking about the elderly. If you take that ridiculous whitewashing job you did with it, in the end he was still doing drugs, OD'd and died. I also doubt if your thoughts are staying with his family and loved ones and it is so phony and rude of you to say that.

That really sucks. I didn't expect this guy to die, it seemed like he was really on the right track.

Re: Lake Wyndham – Wow, you sound like a real jerk. I'd like to hear you speak those same words when your mother passes. Oh I mean DIES or CROAKS. Can't you just have some respect? It must be very painful for his friends and family and even as a complete stranger I can be sympathetic. Time to rexamine where your bad feelings come from.

    This Is So Sad!
But That's What Drugs Do; They Kill!!!

    Re: onlyme

hahahaha! I'm cool with it, my dad DIED when he was 48, my uncle shot himself, my sister in law hanged herself….death is just part of life, it's the one thing that EVERY living thing does! I don't waste energy feeling "sympathetic" every time someone dies, back we go to the original carbon atoms! 219,000 humans are born every single DAY, there is no problem with replacement value.
I might be a "jerk," dunno, I'm one of those "constant volunteer and service" people, and I give counseling for a living, don't you love it? Reality is my drug.

Re: JRodFilms – I don't think he was disrespectful, just in pain and frustrated from not doing drugs. Espacially since he was on methadone, which messes with the mind more than any other drug.
And if you have ever kicked addiction or knew someone who did, then you would know how common his attitude was. It's not pretty.
    RIP Mike Starr.

Re: Lake Wyndham – First off it's "hung" herself, and second of all if you were my counselor I would shoot myself!! You are probably one of the loneliest people on the planet to think of life as such a meaningless thing!! If your reality is that cold & ugly maybe you should do us all a favor & become a hermit somewhere so we dont have to see or read your garbage that you post on here or anywhere else you try to suck the life from!!!

    My heart is broken :(

This is really sad.. its funny, when you watch Celebrity rehab you sort of get to know about a person. He seemed like a really great guy. Obviously fucked up, but a good guy.

  17. 17

    Re: kitykatnae
The correct terminology is in fact "hanged"

  18. 18

Re: candyman – I was thinking the exact same thing.

  19. 19

if you watched Celebrity Rehab he actually at that point admitted that he spent a lot of his time doing methadone to get high…I get that they don't want people to think he was using full on but…yeah pretty sure he was

  20. 20

He actually quit Alice in Chains in 94

  21. 21

So sorry to hear this news. I was REALLY hoping he would pull through. I appreciated him sharing his battles on Celebrity Rehab. I just really felt for him. Rest In Peace, Mike Starr.

  22. 22

It's pretty common for people on Methadone Maintenance Therapy also take benzodiazepines or other anti-anxiety meds in an attempt to replicate the high or "nod" of heroin. Methadone isn't a good solution for a lot of addicts; it's akin to putting a band-aid on a gushing wound. In fact, Methadone is harder to withdraw from than heroin. Ibogaine is the future of addiction therapy!

  23. 23

Fuck him, another loser drug addict musician. Blah!

  24. 24

Re: kitykatnae – Actually, it's hanged herself, that's the proper term, no matter how wrong it sounds. So, before you try to be an English major, do your fucking research.

Stop the goddamn fighting. He doesn't deserve this. I was really rooting for you Mike. I wish you had been able to overcome. R.I.P.

  25. 25

It's hard to feel bad when people do this to themselves KNOWING the risks ..

  26. 26

OMG he died?! That's terrible. May he rest in peace.

  27. wendi says – reply to this

R.I.P Mike, it doesn't really matter why or how someone died..what matters is that a life was cut short. He has a family and friends that will miss him greatly. I'm so sorry that he was unable to get sober and remain that way, I hope that at least one person will take a cue from his death and get sober.

  28. 28

Poor guy he was living a life of pain blaming himself for laynes death. I liked him, he was pretty fine when he was younger.

Re: Lake Wyndham – Do I need to explain euphemisms to you?

Re: ParisIsBurning – I can only hope someone is as disrespectful when you die. Mike was a wonderful person. You, however, disgust me.
