PS 22 Chorus Responds To Andy Cohen's Apology!

| Filed under: Music MinuteCelebrity FeudsPS22 ChorusOscars

A lesson that unfortunately has to be learned sometimes!

After Andy Cohen made some less-than-stellar remarks about The PS 22 Chorus and their appearance at the Academy Awards, he rightfully apologized, and choral director Gregg Brienberg smartly used the controversy as a way to teach the kids that sometimes, adults say and do things without thinking just as often as children, and it's important to recognize when you're wrong and admit to it!

Check out the video the group made for Andy, and their performance of Apologize by OneRepublic (above)!

Breinberg also included the following message:

The PS22 Chorus responds to the criticism and the apology from Andy Cohen regarding the kids' Oscars performance. Classy and articulate kids expressing themselves honestly. And Andy, we kid, it's never too late to apologize, and we truly appreciate it, but next time take a lesson from the kids…..

All in good fun!

And the great song is Apologize by One Republic, and it was cool trying 3 part harmony.

What thoughtful comments!

And we're glad that they all openly expressed their feelings about the situation, whether they accept his apology or not!

It's so important to recognize how you're feeling and to be honest with yourself!

Hopefully now they can all put what happened behind them and focus on what's most important: the music!

I think this is absolutely unacceptable! As a teacher, he should NOT be telling these kids that Andy Cohen's apology "could have been longer" or "should have been in person". Andy Cohen never should have said the things he said, true. But when accepting an apology, you don't get to put stipulations on it and say "it could have been better.". You either accept it or you don't.
    He's setting a horrible example.

why were these black kids at the oscars?

  3. 3

Bravo to the chorus director for giving his kids a voice! In their innocence their is honesty and truth. What a life lesson to learn about the power of words, especially in these days of bullying. Andy Cohen should be ashamed of himself. Those were 10 year old children, not the Real Housewives or Heidi Montag!!

It's a crying shame that he treats the "Real Hoodrats of Atlanta" with more respect than innocent children. Karma is a Bitch and so are you Andy.

Re: darthschwartz – because they were invited to perform there. got something against that?

  6. 6

These kids were terrible and badly dressed and need much rehearsal.

It is the Oscars after all. They had no place there.

  7. 7

Perez you need to send some notes off like that to so many people. Don't cast stones when you have a mountain of them behind you.

I think this was a bad move!!! These kids shouldn't be subjected to this ridiculous attention bit!! Whomever was in charge of this publicity stunt is just using those kids now and blowing the whole thing out of proportion.

    Re: darthschwartz
You moron, they're not just black. Shock for shock sake is over.. get a brain!

First of all, darthschwartz!! How dare you say what you said. These kids (no matter what color) are more classy than you will ever be. You are just as bad as Andy Cohen!!! That said, HOW AMAZING WAS THAT…..these kids just made Andy Cohen look like a bigger fool. They spoke like an adult, each and every one of them and I commend them. Mr. B is also my hero for making this awful thing turn into a learning experience. And BTW, I say them sing and I thought they were awsome!

He should not apologize for stating his opinion. They where horrible at the Oscars. It might have not been their fault, the song was horrible and they where rushed at the end of the show. Besides who cares if they accept his apology or not.

"Aplogy"? Pat..I'd like to buy an "o" before I solve the puzzle…

It seems this public school choral director has gotten quite the taste for publicity. He and the school should be shielding these kids from any adverse consequences as a result of thrusting them into the limelight, instead of trying to milk out more sympathy and more publicity.

there was no reason to have them on the show…it was dumb..me thinks they just wanted to get some minorities on the show…if they were kids from a drama show or stars children or something but just kids from any ole' school…really was dumb, i love the oscars but that was a definitive lowpoint, i didnt even bother watching them…dumb dumb dumb…get a star to close the show…some older singer….

I wish I could have watched the video before it went private. Oh well.
I heart The PS 22 Chorus. Thanks for all you do, Mr. B.
PLEASE fund arts education in public schools.

Re: tiakidddd – why should these kids have been there?

  18. 18

he was right in his first comments. they suck; children shouldnt sing. esp @ an international venue.

  19. 19

To the negative comments; if you listened to Mr B talking to the kids he encouraged them to express their feeling and acknowledged their right to feel hurt or insulted. He is a wonderful person who absolutely encourages each child to say what is on their mind as long as it's appropriate and respectful which is why so many in his chorus thrive!!! The kids were subjected to hearing about what Andy Cohen had to say so they were allowed a forum to express their thoughts and be comical about it. I think it was all in fun ad the kids had a good time doing it! They took something negative and had some laughs over it!!!

Perez can talk about anyone he wants whether it's good or bad but someone else speaks their mind and he flips. You're a hypocrite perez.
