Madonna's Grandmother Has Passed Away

| Filed under: MadonnaSuper SeniorsR.I.P.Sad Sad

Sad news.

Madonna's grandmother, Elsie Mae Fortin, passed away yesterday in Michigan, just three months away from her 100th birthday.

As pleased as we are to see that she lived such a long, full life, we imagine that it's still such a difficult loss.

Our thoughts are with all of her family and loved ones during this time.

isn't this the grandmother who she had refused to help ????

    Re: xcalibur

Are you stupid or something? Madonna doesn't do drugs. Hell she barely drinks

  9. 9

Madonna has been 'fotographed to death' BUT why she did never only one picture with her granny? would have been sooo innersting

  10. 10

Nona looks great for 3 months shy of 100 years old.
Re: Mabel Leaf – What would celebrities ever do without pig-vomit Mario Lardveranda's countenance? So special, eh?

  11. 11

RIP Madonna, damn bitch looked good for 99.

  12. 12

Re: Martin Döringer – You are so misinformed. There is a picture of Madonna and Elsie (her grandmother who has just passed away) and her step-mother's mother Rose together circling the wbe for years). Besides that, on the Virgin Tour homevideo, filmed in detroit, Madonna even talks to her mother during holiday, telling her to get up out of her seat.
And in 2008, Elsie was interviewed saying she was still close with Madonna. touche.

Re: Martin Döringer – CORRECTION: Besides that, on the Virgin Tour homevideo, filmed in detroit, Madonna even talks to her GRANDmother during Holiday, telling her to get up out of her seat.

  14. 14

My sympathies to Madonna and her family–I think this grandmother may have been in Truth or Dare movie also when the concert tour is in Detroit but I could be wrong. I'm sure she had a good long life and was very proud of Madonna and her of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  15. 15

Not sure why it is sad that a 100 year old person dies.

  16. 16

Sad? Why the fuck is this sad? The woman was a 100 year old decrepit corpse. How the fuck much longer does one need to live?
And Madonna probably hasn't seen her in 30 years and probably doesn't care.

  17. 17

    Re: YouKnowNothing

OHHH… The Virgin Tour. You mean the Virgin Tour of 1983-ish?? Yeah, that was like 28 years ago. What's your point.

  18. 18

It's not as sad as losing someone younger but its still sad. She probably helped raise Madonna after her mother died at the age of 5

  19. 19

does Madonna know how bad her face looks with all that surgery? she is not aging gracefully , she is clinging onto false youth and looking so scary like the cat woman– sad

  20. 20

    Re: aliveone2
Her face looks fuckin great. If she'd had no plastic surgery then she'd look like a saggy faced 60 year old.
She doesn't have those deformed plumped lips or an eyebrow lift up to her hair line or tremendous cheekbone implants, or that feaky chin or etc,etc like all those other deformed broads have.
She couldn't look better unless she reversed time and went back to her 20's/30's.
She is, however, a HORRIBLE person for wearing any beautiful dead animal that she wants to. Cruel bitch. If it's not a starving African then she'll wear it's skin.
And, surprisingly, Lordes is turning out to have an ugly face!
She started out very pretty but clearly she's looking more and more like her dad, who is ugly. And she's got those dark shitty eyes when she could have had those stunning blue one's her mother had. Whatever… mom taught her how to not give a fuck about animals so she's already a cruel bitch herself.

    Re: xcalibur – You're a moron.

  22. 22

Re: Jayyyy – Oh and you're around Madonna 24/7 and know whether or not she talked to her Grandmother? STFU.

  23. 23

I cannot tell you that you must love Madonna or not. But talk about a personal issue with such dissrespect like if you know her or now anything about her personal and family life is sick. You people in United States must appreciate the fact that is still alive and in great shape and continues to do wonderfull music and incredible live performances like nobody does at her age. And that she is one of the few real big stars and icons of our times still alive instead of critizising her for her face or her age. You are such hypocrits. You destroyed Michael Jackson while he was still alive but ran to buy his record after his death. You are such hypocrits

  24. 24

    Re: gusmart
If I'm not mistaken, Michael Jackson's record sales spiked all over the world and not just in the US after he died, so you might want to point that accusing finger at yourself.

  25. 25

Re: DarkAdaptedEye – You know what I mean

  26. 26

Re: gusmart – I suppose a more fitting tribute would have been to throw all MJ CD's out or burn them in a heap?

  27. 27

    Re: Moluver
    Yes, we're very close. ;O)

  28. 28

    Re: gusmart
Not really sure what you are talking about. The thing is, the people who hated MJ b4 he died are the same ones who hated him afterward, and the ones who loved him are the ones that went out and bought his music when he passed. That's what people do when someone dies. I doubt Madonna's death will make any converts of any of her haters.
And I disagree with you that nobody does it like Madonna at her age. Cher had her big tour at Madonna's age, and it was the highest-grossing concert for a solo artist til Madonna beat that record. Tina Turner was also doing it at 50 and is still rocking it in her 70s.

  29. 29

    Oh please, like Madonna cares.

  30. 30

Is it really that sad of some news? Well, maybe it's sad for her family, but I'm sure they're probably celebrating her life rather than drowning in sorrow. She lived to be 99!! She lived a full life. Most of us would be lucky to live that long.

  31. 31

hmmmmmm. i wonder if this will bring madonna and her bro back together? lifes too short.

  32. 32

    Condolences to the Fortin/Ciccone families

  33. 33

Re: DarkAdaptedEye – The difference is: when CHER held a record of top grossing tour by a female artist, she had been on the same your for THREE YEARS! 3 YEARS!

MADONNA took the stage for FIVE MONTHS and became the top grossing tour ever done a solo artist, male or female. Also the second biggest tour of all tours ever.

They don't even compare. While Cher cannot dance to save her life or write and produce a song, Madonna has been behind her music and shows 100%.

  34. 34

Grandma was probably thinking: 'Gawd, my grand-daughter is one right WHORE!'

  35. 35

    Re: YouKnowNothing
What are you? Some 40-something gay man obsessed with every aspect of Madonna's life? Who gives a shit if Cher can't dance? That's never been a problem for anyone. And of course Madonna can bring in bigger numbers in less time when you factor in inflation, higher ticket prices, and bigger arenas. Ticket sales are a fixed number, not some abstract figure. Let's not pretend Cher was playing to rows and rows of empty seats. Her tour was extended because of demand, not because she was trying to break a record. And BTW, Cher has released an album of self-penned songs before on an independent label. She CAN write songs; it's just something she can't be bothered with. A lot of women write and produce their own songs…some even do it WITHOUT co-writers and co-producers.

  36. 36

I live in Bay City, MI and Madonna's Grandmother was a friend of my Great-Aunt. Madonna visited and was in contact with her grandmother. Madonna's mother is buried near my Grandfather and I've seen her visiting her mohter's gravesite when I was at cemetery (took my Grandmother to place flowers on my Grandfather's grave.). We in Bay City respect her privacy when she comes in to visit.

  37. 37

    Re: DarkAdaptedEye
    1) Actually, I'm 26. And I would re-read your comments, it seems YOU are the one obsessed with Cher, except that you're probably a 60-year old gay man.

    2) Cher's just a "performer" who WALKS from one side of stage to the other. I can't help you if you think it takes any talent to walk on stage dressed like a clown and call oneself a "performer".

    3) After years and years, Cher released a self-penned album on an independent label after being helped develop "her" songs in an internship. No one heard them because her record label didn't bother to sell "her" music due to its quality. Some songwriter.

    4) "A lot of women write and produce their own songs…some even do it WITHOUT co-writers and co-producers". At least both apply to Madonna, right? She's already collaborated with other musicians AND also written and composed her music by herself - like her first record: all songs but TWO were all written and composed by Madonna herself. So were most songs of Emmy and the Emmies and the Breakfast Club.

    5) Let's not pretend that Janet Jackson canceled her last two tours because of low tickets sales, Mariah carey cancels gigs for the same reason and Rihanna was doing the same on her last tour. Madonna charginging the most expensive tickets on music business and STILL selling out her tours is called DEMAND.

  38. 38

    Re: YouKnowNothing
    1) I barely mentioned Cher in my first post, and you're the one who got all defensive and started rambling about Madonna, and yet I'm obsessed with Cher? She's not even my favorite artist, you stupid phag! If you're really 26 (you're lying), you're a dumb 26, and an idiot with shitty taste in music.
    2) Yeah, well that performance won her an Emmy. Nobody really talks about Madonna's "biggest grossing tour for a solo artist" except you Stans who have to REMIND everyone that she accomplished that.
    3) Wow. On her first record.. That was 28 years ago. And she's been in the business that long and still hasn't come out with a self-penned, self-produced album in her whole career, which tells you how much she's really contributed to her "production" and "song-writing." People in the know–you know, people unlike you who blindly follow and believe every myth about her– know Stephen Bray co-wrote those songs that she allegedly wrote herself. I guess it's about time she collaborates with Justin Timberlake or some other hot star of the day to get her another hit. And no one gives a shit about Emmy or The Breakfast Club. You couldn't give that crap away if they released that shit today.
    4) Yeah, lucky for her, her boss is LiveNation, too, who sell her tickets to Stubhub, so they can make even more money and rip off fans..you know, idiots like you who to pay to see her lipsynch.

I am from Bay City, MI where Madonna was born and also where her grandmother lived. It is a relatively small little town and her grandmother was known to many. She was a very kind lady and was well known to her church community. Madonna did come here with her children - largely unnoticed - to attend the memorial service last weekend. Slip slipped in and slipped out without much incident but did attend the memorial with other members of the public. It is kind of surreal to know that someone as famous as Madonna not only was born here but was here recently and was less than a mile from my home. I happened to find out she was coming to the funeral home that evening but most of the town didn't know as she did not wish to be the center of attention at a time like this so she wanted it kept quiet. It would have been awesome to see her in person but I am so glad that she was able to grieve for her grandmother without having to deal with people bothering her. I hope she feels the people of Bay City respected her and her children at this time of loss. RIP Elsie!
