We're feeling some good vibrations!

The Beach Boys are about to release some never-before-heard tracks.

A new album, titled The Smile Sessions, will be issued by Capitol Records and will be available later this year.

Beach Boy Brian Wilson expressed his excitement about the upcoming album:

"I'm thrilled that the Beach Boys' original studio sessions for Smile will be released for the first time, after all these years.

I'm looking forward to this collection of the original recordings and having fans hear the beautiful angelic voices of the boys in a proper studio release."

Sweet! Can't wait to hear what we've been missing out on all these years!

It's almost entirely BRIAN, noodling around for his concept album. If you have seen the documentary about Brian and the Smile album/tour — then you know this is when his breakdown started and he was suffering from manic starts and fits of creative ideas that had incredible potential but then he heard the Beatle's Sgt Pepper album and wanted to chuck the whole idea because they did it first. It's not really a Beach Boys album as much as it is "doodlings" of Brian's masterpiece album that he gave up on

I cannot wait. Their harmonies and blend still make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It's been a while since any of the latest has done that. I hope these aren't just a bunch of b-side cast-offs.

Re: luvs2tango – Me too. Holland/Dozier/Holland. Check it out.
(& props to the legitimate career of wall of sound Phil Spectre.)

Was it really lost, or shelved all these years because the Beach Boys feared another lawsuit from Chuck Berry, whose sound they ripped off and who now shares co-writing credits for "Surfin' U.S.A."?

Guess what, Boys? Chuck Berry is still alive.

Re: caroaber – Berry won a lawsuit due to Surfin U.S.A. being musically similar to Surfin U.S.A, but with respect to Berry, the Beachboys never, ever sounded even remotely anything LIKE Berry or his tunes. Berry won because of the similar note pattern. The Wilsons were really young when they wrote Surfin U.S.A., and I doubt they noticed, while raised on Berry's stuff. I'd never believe they'd intentionally plagerize considering the beautiful and capable songwriting skills they obviously posessed. That rhythm was the order of the day.
