Two Groups Cancel Chick-Fil-A Appearance

And for good reason!

Two groups out of St. Louis have canceled an appearance by Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy because of the company's association with an anti-gay group.

Earlier this year, LGBT activists spoke out against the company when one of the chains in Philadelphia was involved with an event run by anti-gay group. Later, it was revealed that Chick-Fil-A founder Truett Cathy had started a marriage retreat that does not allow same-sex couple to attend its conferences.

Cathy was scheduled to speak at a March 18 event, but the group decided to cancel after the Missouri gay rights group PROMO brought the controversy to their attention and asked them to reconsider.

Chamber head Ellen Gale spoke of their decision to cancel, saying:

"We are a pro-diversity culture here and certainly don’t want to offend anyone. We didn't know anything about this when he was booked."

We're glad word is getting out there and shame on Chick-Fil-A for not sending out an apology.

Why is it, that this man is not entitled to his beliefs? Everyone has so many RIGHTS in this country, why doesnt he have a right to have a marriage conference that excludes gays, especially when his religon says it is wrong. It would seem Perez, that you would advocate the rights of everyone, but you only advocate the rights that benefit you, everyone elses opinons be damned! Hypocrite!

  2. 2

Its still his right not to agree with gay rights, and Im not gonna disagree. Like I always said it doesnt make him right, doesnt make him wrong. ChickFilA all the way!

  3. 3

Perez, I like how you write "Missouri gay rights group PROMO brought the controversy to their attention and asked them to reconsider." What really happened was a gay rights group brought the controversy to their attention and threatened to go after them if they didn't pull out. Because, that's how the gay mafia works. You're either with them or you will be destroyed. They don't care about anyone's beliefs but their own.

While I don't have the same beliefs as Dan Cathy, I don't think that Chik-Fil-A has anything to apologize for. It's their belief, and the company was founded on Christian beliefs. I know that you are pushing for equal rights, but you are not taking into consideration the beliefs of anyone who doesn't have the same beliefs as you. Stop trying to force people to agree with you. It's not going to happen. No one has to apologize for what they believe in.

I'm gay and feel that Chick-Fil-A can do whatever they want. I've known their stance for many years and simply do not spend money there.

he really does not have anything to apologive for Mario. One of his chains did something with an antigay group, which means they could have done something with a Church for all we know. and for him starting a marriage retreat group, it is not like it is the only retreat group in the country. Are there MARRIAGE RETREAT GROUPS JUST FOR GAYS? If I look, I am sure there are. He is a Private group. If this was the gov't, THAT WOULD BE ANOTHER STORY.

Doesn't everyone know that Perez believes only gay people have rights in this country. Woops I don't believe it is even PC for me to use the word "gay" anymore according to several gay activists groups. This intolerance for discussion and for varying views will cause the opposite affect. I am pro "gay" rights and I am even getting sick of all the hate and bullying created by the gay community against people who simply believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. Just because you disagree with someone doesn't give you a license to destroy their lives. Hate never wins.

I have met Dan Cathy twice and he has great character and is so positive. He does not micromanage or tell restaurant owners what to do. The restaurant owner/operators make their own decisions when partnering and donating food to local businesses and organizations. As for any group not having Dan Cathy speak for their event - "It's their loss". He is an amazing, inspiring speaker. It's so odd that the LGBT community wants everyone to have an open mind, but theirs is not. Different views and beliefs are not tolerated by the biggest group crying "toleration and acceptance".

Damn, let people have their own beliefs! You may not agree with it, but don't be one of those scary people that push it on people. I know you wouldn't go to a church that tried to "change" you so don't do the same thing to them, it's just not happening. I will say that Chic-Fil-A has a strong Christian value ethic. They are closed on Sundays because of their belief and not many businesses will do the same for the greed of money. If you don't like the company views, just don't eat there! You are doing reverse discrimination which is just as bad, or worse since you know better!

So you're applauding the fact that this man is being discriminated against because of his Christian beliefs…right?? We are really getting close to the end of time when Christians are being condemned for believing in what the Bible teaches us…that homosexuality is not just a sin…but a mortal sin. Our society is quickly becoming another Sodom and Gomorrah. I'm sick of these celebrity wannabes trying to teach the youth of America that this lifestyle is "okay". I would much rather crawl into Heaven with this man that to go prancing into Hell with the likes of Perez Hilton and Lady Gagme. Gotta go…going to Chick-Fil-A!!!

  11. 11

you seriously make me dislike the "gays" and their in your face agenda…. I love ChickFilA!

  12. 12

LOL! Some of you amazing. Yeah. You want me to be tolerant and open-minded to your so-called conservative "christian" values which from what I've seen consists mainly of hate, bigotry, and intolerance. Never love. Never wanting to include others, always wanting to exclude. A bunch of hate hiding behind man-made religion.

  13. 13

Shame on them for not offering an apology? Why on Earth would they apologize for their beliefs? Just because they are not the same as yours does not mean they are not entitled to them, and certaintly does not mean they are required to offer an apology. There is no secret about it that this is a religious based establishment…. If you don't like it.. dont suppot it and stop eating there. its as simple as that.

  14. 14

Re: Rubber Rat – Then I guess you must live with your eyes shut, because you have "seen" nothing of our religion at all.

  15. 15

Fat Pig Perez says do as I say not as I do. This is precisely why the gay community will begin to get backlash. Shoving your hate disguised as you must accept me or else will only lead to your true colors which is nothing but hatred for yourself. You either learn to accept others as they are which means their beliefs or you will lose those who may have once stood with you. I once stood with you but now I am turning my back on you for this very reason- you spew hate hidden in the 'you must accept me or else' agenda.

  16. 16

    Re: Unbelievable!

I should have put the word *some* so I would not lump all Christians into the catagory I posted. I certainly didn't mean ALL Christians.

  17. 17

Why the fuck should they apologize? I actually APPLAUD them for being strong in their convictions and standing firm on their grounds and not caving in and succumbing to follow the multitudes who now want to glamorize homosexuality. It's their RIGHT to follow whatever belief system they want to and it's even more admirable that they honor it all the way. Go, Chik-Fil-A!

  18. 18

Not Cool Chick-Fil-A, they can have their beliefs just as we can chose to spend our money elsewhere.

  19. 19

This is just like the Target incident. Perez, your assertion that a privately-owned business should have to apologize for not kowtowing to a specific group of people is absurd. When will you get it through your head that EVERY business has the right to associate/donate/sponsor with or to any group that they so choose?

No privately-owned business should have to pander to any specific group for any reason whatsoever. If you have a problem with a place of business, show your disagreement by not patronizing their store; that will affect more change than making ridiculous demands of them.

Its funny reading these comments and seeing that you fail again Perez. He shouldnt have to apologize for anything. This is what he believes in, The company was founded on traditional Christian beliefs and that's no secret (hence why its closed ton Sundays, duh). Grow up Perez. If you dont like it then just dont eat there. Stop whining that everyone doesnt share your opinions.

  21. 21

Typical isn't it? Gays DEMAND acceptance, your own religious beliefs be damned.

  22. 22

After reading the comments, I'd say that this was an epic fail for perez. haha.

  23. 23

Chick-Fil-A has had incidents where children were molested while in the playground area of the restaurant. This was believed to be one of their bible loving teenagers that worked there. They are known for not hiring gay people and have a moral code of hush hush, let's hide our indiscretions and and let everyone know that we love ourselves and not others. They are actually just a phoney as Ronald McDonald. I would not call the company moral by any standards. They have some pretty scarey looking teens that work there.
