Kate's Parents Are Chipping In For The Royal Wedding

Hopefully, this really was their idea and not the royal family's. We know it is customary for the bride's parents to pay for the wedding, but when the groom owns a whole country…yeah, not so much!

Sources report that Kate Middleton's parents, Carole and Michael, have contributed a six-figure sum to their daughter's bid day. A source close to Kate and Prince William insists it was something the rent's "absolutely wanted to do" and adds that William "graciously accepted" their offer.

Now, here's the thing. While a six-figure sum would cover most people's entire wedding costs, it doesn't make much of a dent in the total $$$ of this royal affair. According to sources, the grand total for the wedding of the decade is going to be somewhere in the $10 million range!

So…basically their portion is going towards tipping the waiters at the reception.

We kid, we kid. It was a nice gesture. A bit medieval under the circumstances, but if it makes them feel apart of things, we totally get it. What really matter is that their daughter's big day is the best day of her life.

    Very nice gesture

The Queen is so freaking cheap!!!!! The entire family is a bunch of fools not realizing that what they represent is evil.

  4. 4

Atleast they're paying for some of it. The Royals are just taking the taxpayers money. They don't actually make the money themselves.

  5. 5

Good God. 10 million would feed a lot of starving babies.

  6. 6

    The mother's hawt! MILF!!!!

You do realise her family is extremely well off don't you? Of course you don't, that's why you've made such a stupid post.

  8. 8

The royal wedding is actually paid with tax dollars so it's great that her family is chipping in.

Re: boston61 – You are really out of left field. And Perez, go back to Cuba. "The groom owns the whole country"? Did you finish high school? In this country?

Re: Keonli – Are you sure? The royal family is more than wealthy enough to pay for it. I doubt they would ask the tax-payers to pay.

Re: uyeah – Actually we (the taxpayers of the UK) are paying the £20mil towards security and transport for the day.

  12. 12

Ummm why not use that money on their country's poor…that's kind of disgusting

I hate to pick but I saw two spelling errors in this one post! This is supposed to be a "professional" blog so it should be proofread! "Carole and Michael, have contributed a six-figure sum to their daughter's 'bid' day" and "What really 'matter' is" Ai yi yi! lol

Perez, it's really hard to believe you have a degree or are 12 year olds writing this blog? The Queen does not "own" the country. Kate's parents are also very wealthy are wanted to pay for part of the cost. Prince Charles is as is the Queen. The Queen is covering security and hosting one of the receptions. It's not a state wedding because William is not the direct heir he's 2nd in line. Go back to stealing stuff from the Daily Mail. At least they get it right.

Re: uyeah – Where do you think the Royal family gets a majority of their money?

  16. 16

This kind of story sickens me. What America and the rest of the free world doesnt seem to realise is that this $10mil doesnt appear from nowhere - it also doesn't cover the security and transport costs, as well as what the extra day off and general disruption is costing the economy. In a time when people in Britain are relying on charity food parcels just to stay alive and goods collected for places like Romania are having to be used here - it is heartbreaking for us to have to watch millions spent on this wedding.

Look at mom. Can see where the kid get's her looks.

  18. 18

I think it shows a lot of class on the part of the parents. Good for them.

  19. 19

I am confused bc I thought the royal family had made all of these financial cutbacks and now you are reporting a $10m wedding? Hmmm…doesn't add up. Also, Kate's parents must be VERY well off to afford to pay $100k towards the affair!

Re: glamourextra – ermmm in britain we have the welfare state…. the poor receive money and pretty much the minimum wage if they don't have a job. food parcels from Romania? i dont think so we are the ones giving the food parcels to romania…., also the money generated from the wedding more than accounts for the price of the actual wedding, and this "extra" day off is just the may bank holiday moved anyway. what i think really affects our country is the £5 billion pounds spent on the olympics….

  21. 21

Good lord. The royal family does not own England you ill informed numbskull.

  22. 22

Isn´t Catherine Middleton parents mid class people?

  23. 23

Re: Roblaaa – where on earth have you gotten your ideas about the Welfare State? Though some people are eligible for benefits when they are made redundant, a lot of people arent, those that are have to wait weeks for a payment in some cases. Not to mention the people IN work that have had their hours cut down, the disabled people who are having their mobility cars and wheelchairs taken away to save money and the retired people who freeze and starve. I know for absolute certainty that what i say is true. i know it because i am seeing it happen to people i know.

  24. 24

Re: glamourextra – you must live in the north.

  25. 25

Re: Roblaaa – no region is unaffected. There is a council in London trying to make sleeping rough and soup kitchens illegal at a time of rising homelessness in the city. This is not a northern problem, this is a British problem.

Listen you English twits, you might end up paying 10 million on taxes but you know how much money you're going to make in tourism that week? Every single press outlet is coming to your stupid country to cover the activities which means you'll not only get loads of money from the hotel industry (every room will surely be filled) but also restaurants, transport, etc.. as well, the publicity will continue to generate tourism dollars for you twits for years to come. So stop the grunting.
