Jonathan Rhys Meyers In Trouble Under Assault And Battery Claim

Rhys Meyers In Trouble

Uh-oh!

Looks like Jonathan Rhys Meyers could be looking at some big trouble if all of this is true.

A service worker at JFK airport is claiming that Meyers, without cause or reason, assaulted and battered her.

Kathryn Williams says this is what happened:

She was working as a service director when the Irish actor "verbally and physically" abused her at about 6 a.m. on May 7, 2010, "causing her to sustain physical injuries and severe emotional distress."

She's now seeking damages for everything that has been done: assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and outrage.

So does that mean she's only seeking money?

If he did this, then that's a very serious and horrible thing to do. We'd want her to be pressing charges or something too, because something so heinous shouldn't just require a check.

We would hope that this isn't true in any situation, though, celebrity or not. Violence is never good.

But with all the recent celebrities coming to light having physically and verbally abused women, sadly, we wouldn't be shocked if this just added to that long list.

Come on, people!

He's just so hot! (Call me!)

It looks like Meyers had a bad morning. According to some reports, he got so drunk in the first class lounge, waiting for his plane to board, that United Airlines officials refused to let him board. However, the fact that the airport worker did not file a complaint with the airport police, and instead is filing a civil suit, makes her claims suspect at best and, at worst, indicates that she's not out for justice, but rather, she's out to exploit the situation for big bucks.

It's always payday when you get fucked up by a celebrity.

  4. 4

Sounds like she is just trying to get paid..

Doesn't he have a history? I recall something about a drunken flap on a flight.

There is something really messed up about this guy…I don't know what it is. It is not the drinking there is something else going on with him. And that weird looking girlfriend…I think she is a beard really that is what it looks like.

Well, if he did verbally and physically abuse her, she has every right to seek some justice and go after him. For every action, there's a reaction. It could be the thing that stops his alleged douchebaggery and teaches him a lesson in civility. If some guy did that to me, I'd consider it. You can't throw your weight around. I don't care who you are or how much you've allegedly had to drink.

Meyer's attorney Michael Miller released a statement: "the lawsuit is a 'blatant attempt
to shake down a celebrity and it is not going to succeed. Ms Williams began publicizing
her allegations only after Mr Meyers said no to her demand to be paid an exorbitant
amount of money for something that never happened. The fact is that Mr Meyers and
Ms Williams had no physical contact whatsoever nor was he verbally abusive. It's as
simple as that. If we have to go to court to establish the truth, we will do just that -
and we have no doubt that we will prevail."

yea that is right blame the victim!!!! This guy has an established pattern of abusive drunken behavior at airports. So if a pattern of behavior can be established (the airport in Paris where he was threatening to kill people and he assaulted a bartender and drinking so much at an airport in Dublin that he passed out on the floor) than I say there is a pretty compelling case. He goes to airports and gets drunk so that he can get away with abusing people and not get slapped in the mouth. Well the more you do it the more it costs. He supposedly paid off the victum in the Paris airport assault so why shouldn't this victim get something. It is sad how people are so quick to dismiss the bad behavior just because he is an actor! He is a nasty abusive drunk and now (hopefully) he will have to pay for subjecting others to his bad behavior. By the way he is banned from United for that incident. Remember that is the incident when he started throwing around the n-word but I guess that is okay because he is an ACTOR… But hey if there were black employees they should understand that JRM is a famous actor and they should be honored to be verbally abused and mistreated by a famouse actor. NO EXCUSE FOR BAD BEHAVIOR!!!! I hope she gets a millon!!! Maybe he will think twice before abusing airport personnel the next time!!!!!!

  15. 15

I agree that there is no excuse for bad behavior. However, the report that he used abusive language at JFK has never been confirmed. It was reported on one Internet gossip site and everyone else picked up the story. United, stating privacy rules, has never discussed the incident. He's "innocent until proven guilty" and if he is guilty, I agree, he should pay. But I can't condemn him for allegations that haven't been verified.

  16. 16

I find it funny that despite the well documented history of JRM getting drunk and abusing airport personnel, the FACT that United banned him for life from their airline (and I have family members who work for airlines the violation has to be very serious for a life ban to happen believe me) there are people still saying oh it hasn't been proven, it was on just one gossip site. No in the northeast it was on the news and in the papers as small items because JRM is not that big here but it was reported. So I am very glad that the victims of his abuse will be getting their day in court. I am sure we will hear testimony on his drunken racial rant. But I guess that didn't happen either.

Airports have cameras EVERYWHERE, I think the truth will come out.
I do think the plaintiff is really looking to get paid and exaggerating. ???No criminal report, suspicious IMO.

  19. 19

YEAH KATHRYN WILLIAMS!!!!!! Thank-you for being so brave and filing suit against this asshole. Show him that you won't back down from a mean, racist drunk!!!!! He wouldn't settle so he had to pay you to withdraw the suit. Congrats!!!! Enjoy the money!!!!!! And JRM you and your creepy beard/girlfriend should just go away and stop going to public places like the airport getting drunk and abusing working people. Your arrogance is disgusting! You think you can do this and get away without paying? NOT!!! Hope a slightly lighter wallet will teach you to respect other!
