Bruce Springsteen enthusiasts, get ready for a special piece of music memorabilia. The car which was reportedly Springsteen’s inspiration for songs like Born to Run and Thunder Road is going up for auction.
Springsteen’s former 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible is going on sale with a required starting bid of $390,000 and estimated to be worth between $500-$700k. Hah!
Bruce sold the car back in 1976 for $2k and that buyer then sold it for $10k in the 80’s. The auction description states it comes with the original vehicle registration, temporary insurance card and Allstate insurance card in Bruce’s name.
It also states the current owner has invested over $35,000 in “overhauling the mechanical and electrical systems of the car, the body and frame are untouched just the way Springsteen owned it.”
However, car experts reveal the car is really worth between $50-60k, but the fact it was once owned by The Boss’ might draw a larger sum.
But seriously, a $300k+ markup? Those must be some $erious fans!
