Prince William Visits NZ

Prince William visited New Zealand recently to give support to the earthquake-damaged seaside town of Sumner.

We're willing to bet that their spirits were lifted by his visit!

From the look of the pictures, everyone was so happy to see him, and he always has a rather casual and empathetic demeanor about him!

NZ, you're still in our thoughts too, and the same with Haiti and any other tragedy that has happened where people are still recovering!

Get your info right it wasn't just Sumner it was the whole of Christchurch! He attended out Christchurch memorial service and also went to Greymouth to express his condolences to families of the pike river mine disaster last year too. One visit to an NZ news site would have told you this!

Seriously?????? "Earthquake damaged seaside town of Sumner!!!"

The epicentre of this quake was very close to the inner city of Christchurch, which is New Zealand's second largest urban area. The quake hit at lunchtime on a work day, when the CBD is at it's most populated. At present the inner city is in ruins and 182 people are estimated to have lost their lives (166 confirmed dead). Many more had to have limbs amputated to free them from the rubble. It is the second most deadly natural disaster ever to hit the country. Ten thousand homes are expected to have to be demolished, with an estimated 100,000 damaged by the quake.

What has happened in Japan is horrific and we in NZ are feeling for them. They are a country of 127 million. Our population is 4.2 million. And right now, we are glad of our nuclear-free stance.

PS: If you are looking for the true "feel good" stories of the Christchurch quake, Prince William is but a small blip on the radar. Look up the "Student Volunteer Army" and the "Farmy Army" to see some of the real heroes in this world…

Re: KJE – oh thank you, this elitist turd ball thinks the world revolves around him when in actuality I'm sure the majority couldn't care less.

Yo perez, get your story straight. Ain't completely correct. Agreed with Bpapillon. Might want to watch the news every once and a while.

I agree with everyone who've mentioned 'Sumner' is just a suburb of the city Christchurch.Considering this is such a huge, popular site I kinda find it insulting they've gotten simple facts wrong. This primarily a celebrity gossip site which is great I just think if you are going to post serious news get it right at the least.
Many New Zealanders love this site and I feel would be annoyed by this as well since we are such a small country we we're all affected by the earthquake in some way.
Just want to say my thoughts our with Japan too!

Good for him to bring some attention to the situation there. Its been overshadowed by alot of other things.

Re: KDIZZLL – Reading the other posts it looks like you're the only one who has that opinion, and judging by your other posts its you thats the "turdball"

Sumner isn't a town, It's a suburb of Christchurch. We have had 3 major earthquakes and over 4,000 aftershocks. We have had to re-build our city once before and now we have to do it again. Yea Sumner got ripped up Once but I don't see you writing about Prince William giving his support to the WHOLE of Christchurch. I appreciate you writing something about him visiting but it would be better if you actually didn't your research. cheers Perez

Re: KDIZZLL – Whoa. He's a dutiful, lovely, sincere guy who is said to be wanting to offer his support because he of all people knows exactly what it's like to lose someone you love.
He didn't have to fly down there. It's a long way, but New Zealand is part of the Commonwealth. He's going to make a very, very good king some day.
