Sarah Palin Vs. The National Endowment For The Arts

sarah palin vs the national endowment for the arts

Seriously, Sarah? You're attacking THEM?

Recently, Sarah Palin spoke out against the National Endowment for the Arts, calling them "frivolous."

Here's what she had to say about them:

"NPR, National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, all those kind of frivolous things that government shouldn't be in the business of funding with tax dollars — those should all be on the chopping block as we talk about the $14-trillion debt that we're going to hand to our kids and our grandkids. Yes, those are the type of things that for more than one reason need to be cut."

Hmm…can't say we agree at all Sarah!

Who do U side with? Team Sarah or Team National Endowment for the Arts?

Didn't she quit her leadership position a few years ago. why is anyone listening to this idiot.

  2. 2

    Sarah Palin in poison

  3. 3

Posion Palin they should call her

  4. 4

Someone should put this a**holes neck on a chopping block so we arent subjected to her nonsense anymore.

  5. 5

She's right. There are so many "programs" that give away our tax money. NPR says they have a great program. Fine. Why does the government need to pay for it. If you want art, pay for it. Why does the government sponsor it? And who the heck knows what the Endowment for Humanities does, except the get millons of dollars. Shut them all down and put the money into helping the poor, kids, schools, police and fire. Hungry kids can't eat art!

  6. 6

    she's evil

  7. 7

cant say i'm an sp fan (b/c i'm not) but when she's right, she's right.

    8

Sound pretty reasonable to me. Why should tax payers fund a radio station, a tv station, an art museum? These are the kind of things government should stay out of and let the free markets work and help us get out of debt.

  9. 9

I hope she runs for president. We liberals will win in a landslide-again

  10. 10

I always get a laugh when perez hilton tries to talk politics ;)

typical republican rant.. remember this is the party that wrote the laws so that the top 1% make a fortune while the rest of us suffer. i have a better idea.. let's re-write the laws so that the wall street senior exec's pay everyone back the money that they've pillaged over the decades.

    12

Why is her turkey goble goble ass even talking? ugh stfu you mentally dead moose shooting hick

  13. 13

lame! just because her idea of fun is shooting animals doesn't mean the rest of us not so well off individuals have to be pushed to the side again in America.

  14. 14

Sarah Palin needs to shut her trap and stop giving her two cents. No body cares anymore!

  15. 15

Wow… did she really just attack NPR too?! Fuck you Sarah. Let's bring up our kids without access to educational programming, the arts and anything else within reach that could possibly enlighten our kids.

  16. 16

Perhaps she was offended by my last artistic creation. "Piss Sarah"

  17. 17

Wow, she is still talking. Re: Surfgolf – The problem with the states is that all your networks are owned by large companies and funded by advertising dollars, don't you want one source of information that is not fully funded by companies?

  18. 18

get rid of the DEA that will help a lot

  19. 19

When they started severely cutting the arts in schools, well, what do you think started happening? A severe rise in school shootings. Way to take away a child's avenue for decompression and artistic expression, ya limey hag.

I actually feel sorry for the republicans if she's all "they got."

  20. 20

just letting you know these programs get only a few million dollars they still mostly rely on private donations mostly. And while were at it maybe we should cut the oil subsidies and tax breaks they get. Seeing as how they make it on their with BILLIONS in profits every year.

  21. 21

By their own admission NPR does not NEED the government funds and given their bias, they should not get funding. (I don't care if it is left or right - if the government gives them money there should be NO bias.)

I support the arts and like the idea of the NEA. While I wouldn't consider it frivolous, I do think we need to priortize in these economic times and unfortunately, I think the NEA should be pretty low on the totem pole.

I just wish someone other than Sarah Palin had made the point.

  22. 22

Tell me where in the Constitution it says that government has business paying for these types of programs. Even without gov't funding, art would survive. Just like all kinds of other private art and entertainment ventures.

  23. 23

a reporter focused on the fact that didn't she know the NEA is responsible for 5.7 MILLION jobs?????? that's not just paying for ART, that's supporting an economy.

  24. 24

Yeah but I bet her fat pig-slut of a Daughter took advantage of government programs for knocked up ho's. People I know that used to like Sarah think she's a moron. Thats because she is! Man that woman is stupid.

  25. 25

What free markets do you speak off?Re: buck – Would that be the the corn, steal, or oil industry's, or maybe the timber quotas you are thinking of? You can't just call for a free market when it suits you and say that the arts and information should not be supported, when the backbone of your economy is.

  26. 26

I doubt it's the money that would be saved as much as the fact that most people in charge of these groups lean left and she wants to hurt them.

  27. 27

$creech knows nothing about endowments. (Shailey Tripp–"Todd Palin–4 inches on a good day!")

  28. buck says – reply to this

    28

Wow..reading some of these comments its understandable how liberals have fucked up this country

  29. 29

8Sound pretty reasonable to me. Why should tax payers fund a radio station, a tv station, an art museum? These are the kind of things government should stay out of and let the free markets work and help us get out of debt.

^^ Because, you'd be paying $20 just to get into a museum! So let me guess… you don't want them to fund public Libraries either??

  30. 30

I love morons who want to cut the very SMALL amount spent on these programs, but are okay that we spend nearly $ 1 TRILLION on defense!! Idiots! You want to cut debt? Cut the Pentagon budget!

  31. 31

Team Sarah! Unfortunately our country is debt…BIG time! We HAVE to cut things whether they have good intentions/purposes or not! Or do you want to become the United States of China??? Like it or not, cuts need to happen and we need to be more frugal.

  32. 32

I'm with team Palin on this one. We're spending our way into oblivion and need to start cutting back. Stupid stuff like this definitely needs to go.

  33. 33

NPR is so bias and left liberal wing. Tye fired Juan Williams a huger liberal, because he said someting that is conservative. Pathetic. Why should our tax dollars go to a show that is bias. If it was a conservative show that was paid by tax dollars and bias, you know it would be off the air in a second. NPR even said they dont need our tax dollars, they can do it by themselves…let them. Same thing will happen to them as AIR America, go out of business, because no one listens to the pathetic weak arguments. Come on Liberals… You already have ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS,MSNBC, MTV, CNN, VH1, NYT, US Weekly,Time magazine….so much more. Why cant talk radio and Fox get Us Tax dollars…That right, they dont need them, because they are LESS bias

  34. 34

So, we need to cut funding to the arts because it is "wasteful", yet taxpayers can spend tens of thousands of dollars on your wardrobe during you failed election for VP? Get bent!

  35. 35

Re: gooby – I really wish you were a tad bit smarter, just so you'd know how stupid you really are.

  36. 36

The first on the chopping block should be subsidies to oil corporations, airlines and cereal farmers. Let them compete on the market.

  37. 37

the tax dollars should go to poor people here and the homeless, not to a BIAS ANTI American radio station. Only telling half truths..you all know it! Even MSNBC called them out for how quacked they are. I am sure if conservatives got tax payers money for radio shows and fox news, all you bitches would complain. but they dont need it, cause people actually watch and listen and make an educated opinion.

  38. 38

"Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is somtimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing, shouting and doing things historians usually record, while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry and even whittle statues. The story of civilization is the story of what happens on the banks."

    Will Durant

Governments need to support the things which make a society great.

Re: Blunt – LOLRe: gooby – Exactly

  40. 40

    Re: Robdawg – Haha. Truth.

  41. 41

Why are we paying attention to this? This makes me cry because there is a part of America that feels this way. Why is it so important for these people to make life miserable for the ones that don't agree with their views?

  42. 42

Honestly, who writes/approves her speeches? Left or right, we all benefit from NPR, NEA, and NEH. Cutting spending in those ares will not make a significant fiscal impact on the deficit.

  43. 43

I can't stand her personally but she is absolutely right on this one. When are people going to realize we have to stop living beyond our means.

  44. 44

Aging reality-show diva Sarah Palin is just babbling to her idiotic base. There are lots of things in the budget I don't want to pay for either like a never ending war and tax cuts for corporations who send jobs overseas. The amound of money that goes to places like NPR and the arts is minimual in the grand scheme of things and cutting them does nothing to balance the budget. WHat it does do is make Palin and her brain dead followers happy because fancy book learning and creative thought is foreign to them.

  45. 45

I agree with her. When a family is in debt they are expected to make cuts to the spending in thier budget. Why should the government budget be any different? It's simple math. Our goverment can't keep spending money it doesn't have.

  46. 46

Re: buck – How do explain what Bush did? We had a surplus of money when Clinton was president. When Bush took over, we lost that surplus, and then some. Now we're never coming out of this. It's not the liberals. Its the republicans and they're still trying to hurt this country for big business!

  47. 47

Re: manymoms – From what I understand NPR was accused of being left-bias but I can tell you that for the past 10 years I have been listening I have found them to be very "fair and balanced", unlike FOX. I agree they should not be funded by the Feds, but in reality they get very little of their funding from the gov't. When is the last time you listened to NPR. I have a feeling it has been a while since your opinion is based on the propaganda the right is feeding you.

  48. 48

Team National Endowment for the Arts! Why is anyone even still paying attention to this windbag??

    52

Re: magan2009 – our debt has tripled in obama's 2 years in office and the recession was suppose to end in spring of 2009 but is still effecting us because of his policies. Bush did spent too much with the help of the democratic congress and senate but what is taking place right now is strangling our country and we can't continue down this path.

  53. 53

    Who cares what SP says?
    She is an idiot.

  54. 54

I agree with her, but this is more of a political lightning rod for her campaign than any sort of real effort to cut costs. What we need to do is to start cutting our funding to other countries for a while. Retrench to the point where we can become fiscally viable again.

  55. 55

Of course anything that could contribute to knowledge and education would be considered "frivolous" to her. She's an idiot, just like the majority of republicans. You want to talk "frivolous"? Giving billions of dollars in unpaid-for, unnecessary tax cuts to millionairs and billionairs, a Republican tactic that has been PROVEN over the past ten years to NOT create jobs, is frivolous!

  56. 56

    Re: Demode – EXACTLY

  61. 61

Re: Surfgolf – Are you really that dense? The main reason Government sponsors the Arts is for the people who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise! Stop listeneen (intentional jab at Poison Palin) to faux news and get the facts before you start mouthing off!

  62. 62

Re: buck – Oh poor silly silly Megan, are you really such an Idiot!! We were left with a huge debt from Bush and the money Obama has spent was to try and correct some of the pillaging of our economy that we were left with! Get you facts straight, or just shut up!

  64. 64

Re: tbone0726 – AND you actually think the stimulas was about that. The money went to all his cronies that helped hime get elected. its all out there we all know it. there are som many websites that have proven where the money has gone. ALL TO HIS UNION BUDDIES, THAT SUPPORT HIM, HE IS PAYING THEM BACK. do some research instead of listening to the media and ther one sidedness. sad thing is you get to vote

  67. 67

Re: tenyearsgone – is that all you got for a comeback? what are you like 12 years old?? actually, I listen to FOX and MSNBC, and sometimes NPR. But when the Gov is paying for them, then of course they are going to be bias and not call out the president and his administration for all the mistakes. I get both sides on information, and make my opinion. Sadly, people like you get to VOTE. your not even worth the rest of my comments to rip you apart on yor lame responses. go back to babysitting

  68. 68

I could think of a few other moments in history where people thought that the arts were wasteful, like the building of the Parthenon at the accropolus of Athens.. Everyone thought the funders were dressing shabby Athens like a cheep whore in jewels but look at it now. Knowbody remembers anything about Athens off the top of their head but they DO know the Parthenon and it remains one of the finest feats of engineering and artistic beauty the world has ever known. INVEST IN THE FUCKING ARTS

  69. 69

That bitch would put every single dollar taken away from NPR into anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage and pro-school prayer groups. What a waste of space.

  70. buck says – reply to this

    70

Re: Serena Loves Mario – i kind of think this bitch would put every single dollar back in the American citizen's bank account where it belongs.

  71. 71

    Govt shouldn't be involved? OK

  72. 72

The government supports the arts with tax dollars because without those subsidies too many people in this country would NEVER see an artistic masterpiece, or hear a band in the park, or experience live theatre, or even hear intelligent discussions on public radio. How many children each year are able to visit a museum because we support them? It is my HONOR to use my tax dollars to send a child to the Smithsonian. But it is my fate that they will use 90 percent more of my tax dollars to send another missile into the stockpile.

  73. 73

Do the writers on this site even know what The National Endowment for the Arts does?

    And f* NPR

  74. buck says – reply to this

Re: jillyme – feel free to donate all of your money to the museum of your choice but leave everyone else's money to them and they can decide where they would like to put it…doesn't that sound fair.

  75. 75

Who is she speaking to? Who gives a Fk about what that bitch thinks? She's a moron.

    76

why don't you check what the money is actually used for before you comment on it instead of opening your uninformed yap. palin is right on very little other than quitting her governorship. alaska is lucky to have gotten this cow off the state government payroll where she imposed herself in the state police trying to get rid of her former brother in law and screwing her husbands former partner.

  77. 77

yeah, well I'm opposed to state reps, senators and congressmen paying back student loans their children take out for college. They're above the law and don't have to repay the loans. I'm also opposed to those same people being able to draw retirement after serving only one year in office. I'm also opposed of them being exempt from the new health care deal. Since when did it become ok for our lawmakers to be above the everyday citizen? I work my ass off and barely get by especially with sky high gas prices. F**k them and the luxury car/SUV they ride around in that's probably paid for by the tax payer somehow. Oh I could go on and on but I'll end it with…..Stupid Sarah Shut Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  78. 78

So, the statue of liberty is french art. So let's melt it down into pitchforks.
Let's burn down the White House again like we did in 1812, and build concrete apartments instead: much more practical.
But first, let's put the homeless on golf courses.
Yeah. That's what I thought you hypocrites would say.
Art is not an instant-money-maker: but it defines us.

  79. 79

We should stop funding religious groups… OH wait, that's not what Republicans want. Smaller government, unless they like what the money is going toward.

She's an example of what is wrong with this country. Tell people how their kids should be raised, fail at her own kids. Cut funding for the arts, lets rely on reality shows. Cut education (and in Nevada cut police funding as well). Republicans are all the same. Worthless.

Her supporters are ignorant rednecks just like her.

  80. 80

Sarah go back to alaska and stick a cock in it ok bitch. you couldn't even finish your damn term out you low life fame whore skank.

  81. 81

    Stupid cun*t.

  82. 82

Hey buck… thanks for giving me your permission to donate MY money!! But my previous comments were MY opinions about how our tax dollars are spent. I can only express my support or my disapproval over government expenditures… and you have the same opportunity and right.

  83. 83

I'm sure the inflated defense budgets where billions were wasted on things that never made it to the battlefield had nothing to do with that 14 trillion huh?

  84. 84

Hate to say it, but given the current economic mess - she's right.

  85. 85

Yeah, the whopping 8 million that the government is giving NPR annually will go a long long way to knocking out that 14 trillion dollar debt. Just that alone will pay down the debt in 1750 years!!!!! She's a fucking genius!!!

Republicans need to just sack up and admit they are fearful of NPR. That's why they're also limiting the ability of other radio stations WHICH GET FEDERAL MONEY from buying program licensing from NPR. That's what is going to kill them, not the tiny 8 million.

It's a shame many of you are too blind or stupid to actually read the news, rather than the blurbs posted here, and consider yourselves educated enough to offer an opinion.

  86. 86

Re: magan2009 – Clinton was lucky enough to be in office when the dot.com boom hit, thus the cash surplus. Bush was in office when the boom died. Bush was in office for 9-11. does that explain enough?

It's time everyone quit blaming Bush. Even if it were true, blaming isn't solving anything!

  87. 87

she hasn't killed herself yet after she had all those people shot. Bitch go back to hell where you came from.

  88. 88

The arts are a wonderful–even necessary–part of life. However, they should be supported by wealthy housewives, not single moms struggling to make ends meet.

  89. 89

I am not a Palin fan but I feel she is 100% right on this point.

  90. 90

Re: gooby – To be honest I know more super wealth democrats than super wealthy republicans.

  91. 91

Re: AliceV – Good one! Ha Ha Ha.

Re: joey mcj – You do mean the man that is currently in office don't you?

  93. 93

Re: jillyme – What may be art to some may be repulsive trash to others. The government has no business spending my tax dollars on something that someone else perceives as art.

  94. 94

How much has the Iraq war cost?

  95. 95

Does she even know what the NEA and NPR do? They broadcast ART. They make theatre accessible to regions without it. I guess for Sarah Palin, her idea of art is a stuffed deer on her wall.

  96. Beaux says – reply to this

    96

Re: AimeeBee – This is an igonant statement. To say republicans are idiots… you negate everything in your post due to your moronic ideals of democracy. You agree or you don't with what Palin says. Glad she could actually say it. Glad you can too, but don't call people idiots for voicing what they believe in.

  97. 97

Ever since Sarah Palin "jumped the shark" in January she is just getting crazier & crazier!
Can't she just shut the hell up - please??
    Think of your country Sarah!

  98. 98

if people actually take her opinion into consideration they are not very smart in the first place!

  99. 99

Why does it surprise anyone that a person who shoots wolves in the back from helicopters would consider the arts frivolous? If you people ever elect her, then you will get what you truly deserve. Even Trump would be better than this fruit cake.

  100. 100

Sarah Palin is a hypocrit. Usually that wouldn't be a problem, but in the case of a U.S. representative trying to act as if she is Hillary Clinton, Israel and India should be off limits, especially is she is only traveling because she thinks it is a good opportunity to help her win the White House. If the majority of Americans laugh at her in the United States, how will it help when the international audience laughs at her in India and Israel?
