SyFy's Being Human Renewed For Second Season

being human renewed for second season

Back in January, we were impressed with SyFy's US adaptation of the UK's Being Human, which hit 2.14 million viewers by its second episode!

Looks like the show has continued to impress, because SyFy has renewed it for a second season.

Here's what SyFy's president of original content Mark Stern had to say about it:

Being Human has proven to be a winner for Syfy on all fronts. Using the original format as inspiration, showrunners/writers Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke – along with a superlative team of writers, cast, and production – have created an amazing, compelling series in its own right. We can't wait to watch Aidan, Josh and Sally continue their struggle to be human in the second season!”

We're glad to hear it! We wish SyFy and the Being Human team the best of luck with season two!

Have U been watching Being Human? Will U tune in for its second season?

    I prefer the original version.

I don't understand why america has to always take a brillant series to start with and re-make it so american audiences will watch it. Why don't you just air the original? It's like you don't care about anyone's else culture, so everything that is different has to be re-made to be american. It's stupid, and half the time it dosen't work aka skins. But sometimes it does work aka the office. But still show the orignals. Everyone else does. Like in the uk they show vampire diaries, glee ect. But if they were british shows america would of re-made them. Stupid I say. And I'm not offending americans, I'm offending the tv producers.

Yes I have been watching since day one and I will continue to watch it until the show goes off the air. Hopefully that won't happen for a looooooooooooooooong time. :-)

I've been watching since day one because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the UK original version, so far the American version is just a great big snooze fest. I agree…why take great British shows and water them down for American TV.

  13. 13

i think most people watch it because sam is a fox lol but i like the show. i want to watch the original as well

Ok - so, years ago you completely RIPPED on the original, amazing series saying it could only be bad - now you're in the corner of the lackluster US recreation? Wow.

Go back and revisit the original. It's WAY better than this one.

BEING HUMAN U.S. version is surprisingly very good I think mostly due to the familiarity of some of the actors. We can connect easier. Having said that, I LOVE the British version and watch it every Saturday on BBC America! I was a bit bothered that the U.S. changed many things from the original but now understand that the format was "inspiration"… Like Aiden being a doctor here but he is an orderly in U.K. And several other changes to enhance the appeal for U.S… People need to understand that Hollywood for the most part is never really original. Trust that somewhere, sometime, what you think is new & original, has been done before! Oh and the girl Sarah in the U.K. is so much better!

    I love Being Human.

I have never seen the UK version so I dont have anything to compare it to… I mean I am a US citizen. I do love this show. I seem to love all the Vampire Shows and books. This is my new guilty Pleasure. This and Vampire Diaries. I love that their is actually blood, biting, and werewolves. Plus…. HOT MEN!!!! What more does a show need.

  22. 22

I love the British version, but the US version is actually just as good. They were smart enough to not make it a complete copy.Theyve made some good diversions to flesh out the characters better. Its just sort of bizarre to be watching two versions of the same show each week….

  23. 23

havn't watched the american version but there is NO WAY it can be better than the english version which is fecking incredible. i cried at the end of this series. MITCHELL!!!!!

    I Love This Show!
I've Been Watching Since Day One
    And Want More!!!

the fact that they have broken off from the original and tailored the storylines to appeal to a north american market saved this show from being horrible…THAT SAID, the "actress" who plays sally is horrible. every scene that she is in is unwatchable and the other actors have to carry her through all of it. she reads as angry, bratty and one dimensional…not exactly a flattering quality for an actress to have. the rest of the cast are doing a great job making the parts their own and not trying to copy their british originals.

i wish that they'd cast anyone else for the part of sally, she ruins what should be a great character to play.

  26. 26

They even copied Annie's outfit…OK so nothing's original but they could at least attempt to put a fresh spin on things. It didn't need remaking anyway like Skins, Shameless, the Office, Queer as Folk and (soon to be) the Inbetweeners didn't need remaking.

Re: Krys2011 – I couldn't imagine Being Human without Aidan Turner (not sure if he will come back to the original series next year after what happened) especially and the three of them had such good chemistry.

  28. 28

It can never match up to the original. Sure the characters aren't as good looking and glamorous (with the exception of Aidan Turner, who is twenty times hotter than this guy) but it was hysterically funny, brilliantly acted with gripping story lines.
