UCLA Girl Withdraws From School Due To Backlash Over Racist Rant - Even Though She Wanted To Make Entire Blog Dedicated To The Subject!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooSad Sad

Wow. We very much would like to find a way to sympathize with her, but sadly, we just can't - especially in light of THIS recent news.

Alexandra Wallace, the UCLA student who made headlines after she offensively posted a video on-line lashing out her Asian classmates for using cell phones in the library, has announced that she has withdrawn from the university due to backlash from her peers.

She writes:

"The video has led to the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats and being ostracized from an entire community. Accordingly, for personal safety reasons, I have chosen to no longer attend classes at UCLA. I was trying to produce a humorous YouTube video, but instead offended the UCLA community and the entire Asian culture. I am truly sorry for the hurtful words I said and the pain it caused to anyone who watched the video. Especially in the wake of the ongoing disaster in Japan, I would do anything to take back my insensitive words. I could write apology letters all day and night, but I know they wouldn't erase the video from your memory, nor would they act to reverse my inappropriate action.’’

Sounds sincere, right?

Well, apparently, those sentiments are FAR from the truth, because according to Wallace's own FATHER, John, she wanted to make an ENTIRE blog with similar racist remarks! And dad SUPPORTED the idea!

According to his Facebook page, which has since been taken down:

"My daughter wants to start a blog."

"She's asking for domain suggestions for 'Asians on their cellphones in the library!' She's shooting videos as I write."

So unbelievably twisted, offensive, and wrong.

Hopefully this whole ordeal can serve as one very-much needed wake-up call for her and her father. There's no place for that kind of ignorance ANYWHERE, and especially not a college campus.

Re: white_is_ugly – What an ignorant fool like you don't understand is that not all asians are from japan or china. Asia is a CONTINENT. Not a country! And there are PLENTY of YOUR people in asia too, and they're living alongside asians fine. So why don't you just stfu and look at the wider picture here? I don't get what all this hate is about towards asians. Stop stereotyping. We're not all from china and not all of us speak chinese so get your facts right. We don't hate on you, so I don't see any reason for you to hate on us either

  2. 102

It wasn't a racist rant it was her stating her OPINION! It doesn't matter if you agree with it or not it is called Freedom of Speech

  3. 103

lol we were all thinking it..

  4. 104

Shes just plain stupid to post something like that on UTUBE! I know it's all about 'freedom of speech', but you must aware what that 'freedom of speech' will bring. At least My ASIAN parents always taught me "DO IT AND TAKE THE CONSEQUENCES", i don't think she (will ever) knows what that means, poor her

  5. 105

So apparently you now cannot state your opinions because someone will be offended…she was annoyed, made a poor decision to put it on the Internet and appears to be sorry for it. Let it go for God's Sake!

  6. 106

Re: Mia Mandic – your reply is just as ignorant. number one, not all asians are from a different country. a lot of us were born HERE in america just like you. we just happen to be blessed and familiar with our heritage which is our asian culture. and what really is the cultures and customs of this country? america is the land where foreigners (including YOUR own ancestors) came to succeed. our land is a breeding ground for all cultures to come together and learn from each other to better the human race. and truth hurts? CHING CHONG LING LONG is not how ANY asian language is articulated so learn your facts before you start hating.

  7. 107

aw she wasn't THAT racist, she didn't deserve to get kicked out n stuff.

  8. 108

Re: caim89 – agreed! and just because they are speaking japanese doesn't mean they aren't american how are they foreigners? they could be american citizens this girl deserves every thing that is coming to her im am so sick of these younger generation american spoiled overopinionated brats who only know instant gratification and ignorance. the downfall of america is upon us any day now. the politicans are running wild, stupid teens like this bitch are everywhere in america. ugh america is such a joke

  9. 109

this has gone way out of hand. was it freedome of speech? sure….was it stupid for posting it on the world wide web for the whole world to see? obviously. what is even more offensive are so called "natives" on here posting that "foreigners" who come here should learn american customs. can people not comprehend that some "foreigners" were actually born in america themselves but were taught by their parents to embrace their heritage, retain their native language, but pledge their allegience to america? the only real "natives" here are native americans who were displaced from their home land by white euros taking over the area. sooo think twice before you spew out bullshit of how foreigners need to go back to their homeland. if that is the case, then all euros, latinos, africans, asians should pack up and leave and return this land to the native americans.

fyi…yes, asian parents do indeed do everything for their children. why? that is the tradition and custom. asian parents may appear to go overboard giving everything and doing everything for their children. but what some people don't understand is that these children will grow up to give back to their parents. do you see asian people in nursing homes? NO. asians respect their elders and have a heart to care for them til the day they die. asian children know to give back to their parents in twofolds when they get older. hence, you hardly see elderly asians alone in nursing homes. give me a break.

  10. 110

    woah thats just wrong!

  11. 111

Karma at it's best. No sympathy for her, I'm glad she's getting the backlash.

  12. 112

If she's going to UCLA she should know how uptight people are now a days. Everyone is going to take stuff like this seriously, even if she was joking. BUT everyone is racist in some way, so people need to chill.

  13. 113

no offense but it's true. how can people go and say that she's being racist when she's blogging about something that ACTUALLY HAPPENED. its not a sterotype of asians that they do this, if they're ACTUALLY DOING IT. i'm a college student and i cannot tell you how many times asians have been in the library giggling and talking on their cells or to each other while other students are trying to actually study. its offensive to US that they think its appropriate to be doing that.

  14. 114

Talking in the library is a no no REGAURDLESS of the race ethnicity ect ect. But this girl is just a idiot plain as day. All im saying is you couldnt pick a more interesting topic to talk about? Not only was that horribly boring and racist, You didnt even entertain me! Isnt that the point of making one of these videos? to provided some sort of entertainment? Oh well, its all good, her boobs were pushed up to her chin as it is, im guessing that was supposed to be the the entertainment peice. Good luck finding a job sweetie. You could even put UCLA racist drop out on your resume:). must feel good.

  15. 115

Re: allybear2 – you are so ignorant…. you are saying only asians people talk in the library and no one else of any ethnicity, including caucasians will talk in the library? do the world a favor and stick your head in your ass so no one has to listen to your ignorance. She should have been kicked out of UCLA. She thought no one would object to her obscene racist comments?

  16. 116

She keeps talking about American manners. Really? If there is anyone who don't have manners its you. So go back to your tanning salon and stop treating other people like dirt. You're exactly the kind of ditzy girls who think they're so smart and hot but end up working in Hollister til they're 30.

  17. 117

wow, there sure are a LOT of racists on here. how do you find her mocking Asians with "ching chong ching chong" the least bit appropriate or acceptable? that is the lowest form of ignorance and racism. and her blatant insensitivity to the tsunami and devastation in japan is beyond disgusting and low. this girl deserves all the public flogging and humiliation she reaped onto herself. i hope she pays for it for the rest of her shitty, low class life.

  18. 118

Re: cornstarch123 – agreed this ally person is one of the pitfalls of american society and anyone else who agrees that this girl did nothing wrong. ugh it makes me sick, and i doubt that many asians are so disruptive in libraries and don't actually study, they're not in ucla for nothing.

  19. 119

Meh, I didn't really think it was too offensive. Although I thought she started it off kind of wrong when she started to complain about the apartment complex. But I do concur with the library thing. Maybe not specifically with Asians, but I think a majority of us knows how frustrating it is to try to learn material when someone is talking loudly and thus distracting us from absorbing what we're reading. I think we all have the right to rant, but maybe this should teach us to be careful what we post.

  20. 120

she has about the same i.q. as a buket of paint

  21. 121

That statement sounds too smart for her…I think someone else must have wrote it. Oh well, she belongs at DeVry anyway!

  22. 122

She does make a small point. That when you go to another country you need to adapt yourself to their customs and manors. If you go to Saudi you have to wear a head scarf and cover yourself. When you go to China after you just ate a home cooked meal you need to burp…etc… because if you don't it is offensive. When you go to the states you just don't talk on your cellphone in the library. She says it all wrong and a lot of bullshit. But that small point… people do need to be respectful. You need to adapt. I'm a TCK so I learnt to become neutral and it is upsetting when others don't try or care. I know it's not right to say but I kinda wanna say just stay in your country if you do not want to adapt. I am not talking about Asians, or Europeans…etc I am talking in general.

  23. 123

Everyone wants to be the next internet sensation, but then can't handle it when the shit hits the fan. She knew what she was doing, and I'm pretty sure she's enjoying the attention.
I don't understand the comments about Asians having to respect "our" manners, especially when a lot of Americans travel to other countries and don't follow the same rule. Asians do not hold a monopoly on talking on their cellphones in the library, as you can find many of our own who do the same thing as well as talk on their cell phones everywhere else.

  24. 124

    Re: DexterM – "I wouldn't call it racist…more stereotyping"

    FOR SEARS!?!?!?!?!

    Po-tay-to, Po-tah-to.

  25. 125

The people freaking out about freedom of speech need to calm the eff down. First, she's not being arrested for what she said, which is what free speech is all about. NOT BEING ARRESTED for what she said. Secondly, she's not being kicked out–she's CHOOSING to leave because she can't handle the opinions of the people around her who are OFFENDED by what she said. Free speech doesn't mean people aren't allowed to be offended by your words, it ONLY means your allowed to say them, but deal with the consequences of what you say, especially when you use a service like Youtube to broadcast it to the world.

  26. 126

    totally deserves it.

  27. 127

this girl is everything BUT "a nice american girl"…. honey, you have made yourself sound so stupid that i cant imagine how anyone from UCLA admissions didnt catch onto your closet racist lifestyle. Oh and by the way- nice work trying to make it seem like youre skinny with a nice rack and not thick all over…. maybe some drunk dude will marry you but as soon as you open your mouth, he wont even want your crusty racist ass. I may be no angel for picking on your physical appearance but lets justs say YOUR INNER BEAUTY OR LACK THEREOF REFLECTS YOUR OUTER BEAUTY…. OR LACK THERE OF. youre just pissed because every Asian American youve encountered has probably been smarter, nicer, respectful and better than you in every way. YOure a loser- go to Japan and start helping people. You might redeem yourself before youre sent to the gates of hell.

  28. 128

Re: NavyWife68 – Obviously you know NOTHING about Asian culture/cultures, because you would realize how offensive some of the things she said was. It's perfectly fine to state an opinion, but to mock an entire culture with words like "ching chong" and to say that "Asian people" don't have manners is ignorant. There is a way to state your opinion in a politically correct manner and she didn't do it.

  29. 129

i dont find this overly offensive. i get the point she was trying to make, she just went about it the wrong way. she shouldnt have stereotyped any race, but just stated that cultures and customs are different everywhere and the polite thing to do is to learn them if you intend on living in that country.

  30. 130

It was fine for her to complain about the disturbances in her library, but the language mocking was overboard. There's always people talking in the library [yes, on their cell phones], Asian or otherwise.

Though I have one question: if she was really all that disturbed, did she HAVE to study in the library? Dorm, local coffee shop, grass outside… No, it had to be the library with all the annoying cell phone talking Asians? …

  31. 131

To the people who don't understand why this was offensive, you may want to take American history all over again and enroll yourself in some cultural studies classes. At this point in history, people should understand why making blanket statements about entire races and continents of people is offensive and even dehumanizing. I think not having this knowledge may a side effect of some people being raised "colorblind". Racism unfortunately exists and trying to pretend it is something else doesn't make it go away. Thinking you're fighting against the establishment or being clever by being politically incorrect doesn't make you cool or clever to everyone, it makes you an a$$hat to some people. Don't be surprised if you get treated like one if you say things like this girl, regardless of your "intentions" or if you think it was a "joke".

  32. 132

    Re: American4397

Oh, they scream it, huh? Exaggerate much? Or are you one of those xenophobic white people that cannot tolerate any foreign languages being spoken, no matter at what volume? I am assuming you will answer in the affirmative to the latter.

Also, mocking an Asian language to an Asian person is an extremely offensive thing to do, since I would say all Asian kids had been verbally abused this way when they were growing up. So no, this is not a matter of freedom of speech, unless you are one of those conservative racist white people who enjoy using racial slurs and making racist comments just for the sake of being "politically incorrect".

  33. 133

    Re: Talia88

Yeah, because only Asians use the phone in the library, right? And if they want to speak their own languages to their families and friends, how is that "refusing" to speak English? Did they turn you away when you tried to speak English to them? In fact, do you even talk to these people? Or do you just hate them from afar? My point is, how can you know they are "refusing to speak English" when you do not even speak English to them?

As for Asian gangs, what do they have to do with somebody using their phone in the library? Or are you just on a hate-Asian free-for-all and you just had to disclose everything you hate about Asians? Yeah, I thought so.

  34. 134

    Re: white_is_ugly

Yeah, because Japan is the only country in Asia. You are an idiot, and a racist one at that.
