Dick Cheney Miniseries Is Coming

Cheney Miniseries Coming

HBO has heard your cries, dear readers, and is finally developing a Dick Cheney miniseries!

Okay, so maybe we weren't exactly asking for it, but it DOES sounds pretty inneresting!

Here's what it'll focus on:

The mini, which will be based on the bestselling book and the Frontline documentary The Dark Side, tells the story of Richard Bruce Cheney from his early days as Donald Rumsfeld’s protégé in the Nixon administration, to the nation's youngest Chief of Staff under President Ford, to serving as Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush, through two controversial terms as Vice President under President George W. Bush. According to the producers, the project will center on Cheney's "single-minded pursuit of enhanced power for the Presidency (that) was unprecedented in the nation's history."

Hopefully it'll be as raw as it sounds!

What's more fantastic is that they have Rick Cleveland penning the show, who has an Emmy with Aaron Sokin for their writing on The West Wing, and who worked on perviously amazing shows like Six Feet Under!

With Rick behind it, absolutely we'll watch!!

Now the question is, who will they get to play Cheney??

Cheney is a dark entity that should be locked up for crimes against humanity.

There is no way this could possibly be a fair representation of Cheney's story. Hiring Cleveland to write it is like asking Rush Limbaugh to write a movie about Hillary Clinton. Will Hollywood EVER stop trying to shove their extreme political beliefs down our throats?

I know Hollywood is fixated on politicians, especially Repubicans, but do they really think people want to watch this stuff? First a movie about the 2008 elections with an angle on Sarah Palin, now about a man who was VP in the 2000s. Hardly history. At least the Kennedy mini-series covers characters whove been dead for a generation.

They used to wait until their subject had left this mortal plane. As is, if it's so vetted and sanitized that Cheney's legal team can find no fault, then it might not be worth watching. I'll watch the one they put together in two or three decades.

I am willing to bet that Cheney's family will not find ways to prevent this movie from airing on HBO-(even though it is bound to be a hatchet job on Cheney); unlike the Kennedy family who used all of their Democratic and Hollywood contacts to prevent the Kennedy movie from airing on TV. I did see however they could not convince Reel Channel from airing the kennedy movie. I thought all of these Hollywood and Kennedy types were for freedom of expression and all of that kind of stuff-but I guess they are only for expression that advances their political agenda and causes.

Re: harrycontests – I'm always happy when I read your posts. I'm a conservative as well, and it's very saddening to know that Hollywood treats people with our belief system like "red-headed step children." It's like, I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I would at least like respect to the fact that my beliefs are my own PERSONAL choices. I won't bother you with mine, if you don't bother me with yours, you know?? Some people just don't seem to get that. It's so one-dimensional. "You HAVE to support homosexuals, you HAVE to support women's rights, you HAVE to support anti-war movements." Can't I just support what I want without being judged?? It just doesn't make any sense.

It's also cool when I see your comments because it let's me know that I'm not the only "elephant in the room" (Republican joke!). Sometimes it can be rather embarrassing to post a comment knowing that you're the only one with that particular point of view. But it's not so bad when you have another person relaying the same idea.
