Sugarland Does Madonna!

Holy shiz! This is one EPIC rendition!

Check out this amazing cover of Madonna's Like a Prayer, performed by Sugarland and Little Big Town in Bloomington, Illinois on March 18th (above)!

Wow! Jennifer Nettles has one serious set of pipes, no?! And we really commend her being ballsy enough to do her own thing with the song, instead of just trying to mimic our Madge! She really pulls it off!

What do U think?? Do U like this cover of Like A Prayer??

Perez, please do yourself (and the rest of us) a favor and learn a new word! You tarnish the word by using it in every other post to describe something new by Britney, GaGa, or anything else that you're excited by at any given moment.

Cool rendition by Sugarland btw, thanks for posting!

    PHENOMENAL!!! better than Madonna

This is boring. And how can you say she doesn't try to mimic Madonna? Yah, she doesn't sound like her because her voice is incredibly nasally & twangy, but she sings the song in the exact same style as Madonna did. And the band didn't do anything new as far as the music goes. This was lame. Glee's version was even better than this!

Talented singer, but I am unimpressed…Madonna is not her genre and she did not try to make it her own, thus it sounds like karaoke.

    LOVE IT!!!

i started to listen, i started to like……then i realized who sugarland is ( i like little big town) and i wanted to die. I HATE JENNIFER NETTLES. She sounds sooooo bad, like ear hurting bad. Not to mention she is hideous

OK, this is why you will never get a job for shows like X Factor, even though you beg for it everyday. YOU DO NOT KNOW WTF MUSIC IS. how is this epic? and how does she have "Serious sets of pipes!?" this was awful.

Yeah, it's fun to see them do it. My fave is Ray of Light.

I got your back on this one, Perez. They did a great job and you hear the potential. If this was done in the studio with more of a country production, it would be a single ready to hit radio. I wouldn't say it is very different the way it is done live, her vocals are just so twangy that it sets her version apart a little. However, a few more country instruments (violins, banjo, etc) and some country production and this would feel more country and be a hit.

22 years later and still is a great song, too bad Madonna cant sing it anymore how she used to :( she did an amazing job on the Re-Invention Tour but doesnt compare to her performance back in the Blond Ambition Tour… and the Sticky & Sweet tour remix was great but vocally was disappointing

    Very well done!

  14. 14

I thought Jen Net did a great job!

Perez, I got your back on this one as well. Not only did I think it was an amazing cover of "Like A Prayer", I honestly think is far better than the original.

Sugarland sounds good, but no one compares to Madonna, especially when it's one of her classic songs. There is an a-cappella group, Straight No Chaser, that did one amazing live version of Like A Prayer. Straight No Chaser's version is worth checking out!

Nice but no Madonna. Madonna has such a beautiful, unique tone to her voice. And anyone on here who has never watched Madonna's Blond Ambition tour rendition of Like a Prayer, go on YouTube and type Madonna Like A Prayer Blond Ambition. There's several DVD quality videos on youtube. One of her with a ponytail and one with touseled blond curls. Love the choreography with eveyrone in long coats and Madonna with her huge cross on. Nothing can compare to that performance. Blond Ambition tour rocked.

Seriously….one of the best voices in music today. Any genre. Awesome rendition of a dance classic. Sugarland rocks!!

Yes Perez, country acts are just as good or sometimes better than the schlock you put on here. I wasn't impressed with this though and either you've never heard Madonna's version or it's been a while. THEY used the same arrangement. You should've put up "Life In A Northern Town" which Sugarland did with Little Big Town and Jake Owen. Now that's showing their talent. (And Jake Owen's hotter than hell too. I've seen him live and he's amazing.) If you'd cover more of all genres maybe you'd seem a little less up Lady Gaga's ass and more like an actual entertainment journalist!

Arrgh, stop staying it doesn't bloody compare to Madonna, of course it doesn't, it's Madonna! This, however, is a cover, and a damn good one at that. Jennifer Nettles is one of country's finest and always will be, and along with Little Big Town this just proves that country artists (barre the very select few) have it going on, and have REAL talent that doesn't require a hell of a lot of computerisation and effects just to make them bearable. Credit where credits due on this one, they sounded EPIC as Perez so correctly put it. ;-)

"instead of just trying to mimic our Madge" tell that to your GAGA.
