bill paxton had issues with big love series finale

SPOILER ALERT! For those who haven't seen it yet, major details about Big Love series finale revealed!!!! SPOILER ALERT!

We're sure plenty of people enjoyed Sunday night's Big Love series finale…but Bill Paxton was NOT one of them.

Here's what Big Love writer/executive producer Will Scheffer had to say about it:

"We were in the room when Bill read the script [and he] wasn't happy."

More from co-producer Mark Olsen:

"Initially, Bill had trouble that his character was going to die. It's not how he envisioned the end of his character's journey nor the end of the series."

"I think he had a vested relationship with the character of Bill Henrickson and he feels, rightfully so, that he has husbanded that character for five years, and it hurt him to know that that character was going to die."

"We explained what we were going for, and he got it. We didn't want Bill [Henrickson] to go out a loser or a failure or an unrepentant fundamentalist. And we wanted to find that thing that would render his life's existence the most successful. We felt the greatest testimony to Bill would be that he had created a family that endured."

We're sorry you weren't happy with the series finale, Bill, but hey…now at least you can move on to the next thing.

Still giving any thought to that 3D Twister sequel???

I wasn't so upset about the fact that Bill was killed, but about who killed him. It was way to random that they made his neighbor do it… if Bill was going to die, it would of been at the hand of Alby or someone from the compound. Yes, that would of been predictable, but still… it was too out of character for his Morman next door neighbor to just randomly shoot and kill Bill. I really hated that ending.

I'm thinking more Weird Science part 2

The final episode had me in tears, I thought it was so sad. I cried over Lois and especially Bill. When he had his vision during his mass, I was like no way, he's ging to die. And there I was crying for like 20 minutes. =-( I thought the finale was awesome!

OMG Why did I just read that? I didn't think the spoiler was going to be THAT huge! I wish I had HBO. Now i have to wait another year to see it. :(

I agree with Vanessa.julia.lutz! The ending was super lame!! So many things were still un answered for the last season. Joey/Wanda, Cara lynn, Frank, ect. I would have preferred Barb and Margene running off together/apart and having Bill and Nikki live happily ever after. That would have been much better than killing him off! They at least could have done a couple more episodes to finish un answered questions! Oh well…I guess we'll never know now…..

BTW I had to get rid of HBO before the show ended. I went to VideoMines.com and watched the last season there for free.

    That ending SUCKS.

Re: vanessa.julia.lutz – totally agree, and if they were going to do that they needed to make that neighbor start showing more signs of losing it than he did. It was just crazy to me. I mean I get they were trying to surprise us, but wouldn't he have shot Margie then? She was the one he had the problem with all season. I did enjoy the ending though. It was much better than last season.

    Finale was absolutely awesome.
Bill's death was so unexpected… but it made complete sense. Things that I couldn't tie together during the season suddenly knotted. As did the entire series.
And that final scene? So beautifully shot and acted, and it really did give closure to the MAIN characters. Not a dry eye in the house, here.
The creators– a gay couple– have said in interviews this week that the whole premise of the show was to question what a family is: how gender roles are dealt with, how divisions are addressed, how individual growth is either fostered or stunted, how core beliefs are maintained. In the end, the family is the three women, and you realize that this is wonderful. As would be a family led by two gay men.
Fuckin A this was an amazing show, and one of the best finale episodes I've ever watched.
