A Gay Republican Is Running For President!

First Gay Republican Running For President

This is fab!

Even though some people might not agree with the political party Fred Karger's a part of, he completely has the right to stand there with them and put his name in the hat for President, whether or not he's gay!

While we're sure that his bid for the candidacy will not sit well with some people because he is openly gay, we are very proud of him for making the effort real and unavoidable in the RNC. To us, that's inspirational. He could really help to reform the equality stances in the party, while focusing on the nation and what matter's most.

Here's what he's done:

Retired California political consultant Fred Karger will be in DC today to file his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission officially declaring his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination. It will make him the first openly gay Republican ever to run for president as well as the first GOP candidate to declare officially that he is running for the 2012 race.

That really is a big deal for the Republican party!

Despite your politics, it's key that we all support Fred's decision and make sure that he's given every freedom to campaign as anyone else would be!

Unfortunately we assume that some people are going to be pretty upset no matter how good of a candidate he is.

Now to see if he'll be going up against the Trump!

Equality for all!

So… because he's gay you think he's great, even though his party stands for everything you're against? A gay republican is like a vegan that eats meat.

  2. 2

I am gay, and won't vote for him just because he happens to be gay. Plus republican….I don't think so.

  3. 3

also, what is so inspirational about this?

  4. 4

Why the fuck is it key that we all support his decisions. Just because he is gay? Jesus you are distorted. Your motto of equal rights for all should be changed to special rights for gays.

  5. 5

What's this with labels? Gay, Republican? Blah! I vote for whomever I think is better qualified. I ignore political parties because each individual is different, but they all shit. I'm gay, I tend to vote Republican but not all the time.

  6. 6

Ughh okay? His sexuality doesn't define who he is. Quit being biased and saying he's awesome JUST because he's gay… and his point of views are against EVERYTHING I am for.
    Sticking with my democrats…

With your logic, all women should vote for a women no matter what her policies are. Just because someone is gay is not an automatic for me.

  8. 8

Are you fucking Kidding me? is this a joke?? seriously this got to stop!!! Gay people need to seriously stop throwing shit to our face!!! first gay marriage now a gay president what is next?

  9. 9

People who buy in to the labels, especially in politics, are the most narrow minded of all. (cough, cough PEREZ) I usually vote Republican, but only after I've looked into all candidates, and the fact that this guy is gay doesn't mean squat to me. I'm more intrigued with the fact that I've never heard of him but he's aiming for the presidency! haha

  10. 10

So we are going to vote for him because he is gay? That's like saying we voted for Obama because he's black. Thanks but no thanks. This was an ignorant posting!

  11. 11

Look! More gay news! Stop ramming your gay bullshit down our throats, homo.

  12. 12

NO FUDGE PACKING IN THE WHITE HOUSE

  13. 13

To be fair, P said nothing about VOTING for the guy, he is saying we should 'support his right to campaign" as we would anyone's. Based upon some of the idiotic statements here, THAT isn't happening. That said, I do not envy this guy the weight he has taken on! He is definitely in for it, this nation is still reeling (due to idiocy) over a black president. Gay? Using the same timeline as acceptance of other 'races' as a guide, we are FAR from taking this without a TON of flak. Good luck dude, but go for it. Won't get my vote, but not because of his open closet.

I think my dog has a better chance of getting elected president than a gay republican. Not that I'm against it. But you know how people are. On the other hand my dog would run this country better than what's currently there.

  15. 15

No class of people who has been discriminated against historically (women, gays, people of color, religious minorities) could ever in their right mind support a or be a republican. This guy must have some wicked skills at overriding the cognitive dissonance in his head. The republican party doesn't want him or people who are "that way." They hate gays. It makes me sick to see a person from one of these groups sell everyone else out. It should make him feel dirty.

  16. 16

Re: miamiron – to late for that. i heard george fucked laura up the ass more than once in the oval office.

  17. 17

Re: Princess of Truth – That's a strange way of looking at it. I mean, if you think it's a form of mental retardation then why would hate them more then people with other forms of mental retardation, like down syndrome? I would assume you don't hate everyone with down syndrome, but you hate homosexuals?

  18. 18

Stop being delusional stupid. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. A woman will be elected first. Sucks to be you doesn't it.

  19. 19

Re: Princess of Truth – You're just a very stupid idiot. You and Mario should have a chat. Actually, you're the one with retardation and are worse than a virus. Parasites like you need to be put out of our misery.

  20. 20

Re: Brains of the Operation – First of all, you're clearly a fucking retard. I am a republican, and I don't give two shits about whether or not he's gay. Further, your statement that any class of people that has ever been discriminated against should never be republican is as ignorant as it gets. Lincoln was a republican, and he freed the slaves. Further, I am of African descent, and I am a republican. I'm sorry that I don't want the government involved in every aspect of my every day life. Heaven forbid I'm allowed to be successful, or fail based on my own merits (I am in grad school, and I did NOT disclose my race, or use it to my advantage at all during the application process). I want to be left alone, I don't think that is too much to ask for.

  21. 21

First of all, Princess of Truth should be completely ignored. Her opinion is false because sexual orientation and mental abilities are completely unrelated. Hence, why your ovaries aren't on your brain. And, also why she probably doesn't get laid. Stupidity is incredibly unattractive.

Secondly, Fred Karger is incredibly MODERATE. I, personally, am against such republican models like Sarah Paliln who support Creationism and other scientifically insignificant pieces of junk. He supports woman's rights, getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and reinstating a lot of the education that's being rescinded. His sexual orientation is politically insignificant, but socially significant, so I understand why Perez is noting this.

Long story short, Fred Karger is a good politician, and those who see other wise are too lazy and stupid to look at the small print.

  22. 22

Gay? *thumbs up* Republican? *thumbs down* lets see how far your personal beliefs take you and if they beat out the stereotypical Republican. Good luck!

  23. 23

Re: Princess of Truth – Are you completley bonkers? What are you doing on a site that is fighting for gay rights? You'll be one in a thousand. And further more, just shut the hell up alright? You have no respect for people at all and would see that people are born the way that they are. I don't know who the hell has brain washed you but you both need help, learn to be more open minded because those of us who are supporters of the gays don't tend to listen to people like you who refuse to listen to anybody other than their own beliefs. Get off this site Princess, go where "Your Kind" hangs out. Now did that sound very nice to hear? Didn't think so, think about how it may feel to be on the receiving end and stop spreading your poison and your hate.

  24. 24

Re: Laurahrahrah – Thanks for pointing that out actually, i think i'll go read more about him. I appreciate the heads up and will make my judgement later on.

  25. 25

    he's just wasting his time & money….

  26. 26

His sexuality should have nothing to do with his politics. Most got past Obama's blackness, we must get past where someone wants to stick it?

  27. 27

Wow. Calm down kids. Did he say "Hey everyone! Go voter for Karger or you're a homophobe!" No. He said to respect his decision. The reason why it's so impressive that he is using the "labels" of gay and republican is that there is a lack of out people in DC. Eventually, people will stop making a big deal about homosexuals doing… well… anything. But that is never going to happen if public figures are ashamed of who they are.

  28. 28

    gay + republican = contradiction/delusional

  29. 29

Re: Orodrigu – Being Republican is more than just social views. There are also economic considerations. I am socially liberal but fiscally conservative and quite often find myself defending (certain) Republicans. They aren't all like Palin.

  30. 30

Re: Eliazar Rodriguez – Guess what hypocrite, being "Republican" doesn't define him either. Only small minded Dumbocrats say that. I serious doubt he is against gay rights, being that he IS gay, dipshit.

  31. 31

Why do people not read anymore? This article doesn't say you have to vote for him, it is simply suggesting that people support the fact that he is running, and to talk about him. Good or bad reviews about the guy help bring the conversation to the table for both Republicans and Democrats. The more this guy is in the news the better off GLBT Americans will be. Just like Fred Phelps is one of the best things to happen to the GLBT public as he puts a face to hatred, Karger will help bring GLBT issues to the front page of the 2012 race. Don't disregard this guy as a "crazy Republican", treat him as another viable candidate for the 2012 election, and keep him in the news; it will help everybody.
