Aside from Aladdin, and MAYBE the video game based on Steven Spielberg's Hook, when have they EVER made a good video game adaptation from a movie?
Looks like The Weinsteins aren't letting that stop them, because today they announced the launch of TWC Games, which will create video games based on properties owned by TWC and Dimension Films for "mobile, social, and console platforms."
Does that mean we'll be seeing a Scream 4 video game soon after the movie is released?
Here's what Bob Weinstein had to say about the launch of TWC Games:
"The video game marketplace is changing at such a rapid rate. With all of the digital platforms, there are so many opportunities to broaden our audience with compelling, high quality, cost-efficient, video game entertainment."
Here's what Adam Boyes, the president of TWC Games' partner Beefy Media, had to say about the partnership:
“The Weinstein Company is an incredible entertainment company, and I share their vision for creating very high quality content for the marketplace. We plan to combine our extensive video game developer relationships with the impressive catalogue of properties to create and produce content made by gamers for gamers.”
More power to them if they're able to make quality games, but traditionally the movie-based video games are always the worst ones, so we're skeptical.
Do U think TWC Games will make quality products? Have U ever played movie-based video games that you thought were good?
