Appearing On American Idol Still Boosts Artists' Sales

Jennifer Hudson record sales boosted by American Idol

American Idol does not only make stars, but helps existing stars boost their sales!

Last Thursday, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles appeared on the show. This week, ALL three of the performer's digital sales were significantly boosted from the publicity.

According to Nielsen SoundScan's list of top digital tracks, Lopez's On the Floor sold 126,000 copies and is quickly closing in on a million, while Sugarland's track Stuck Like Glue increased it's sales by 89%!

American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson watched her single Where You At get downloaded 24,000 times, a 271% increase over the previous week.

So it looks like ANYBODY in the music industry should be trying to get on American Idol! Ha!

Re: PixiePeet – She's actually VERY talented and does belong in the music industry because of that talent. Go watch "Dreamgirls". When I saw it in theatres a few years ago, everybody in the theatre clapped for her after she sang "And I Am Telling You".
