Whoops! Should've gone over the books more closely!
Two songwriters have come forward to file a lawsuit demanding royalties from the sale of Justin Bieber's song, One Less Lonely Girl.
Sean Hamilton and Hyuk Shin, who when powers combined form A-Rex, were billed as collaborators alongside Usher and two others on the song, yet they were never paid for their services past the intital pay out. Therefore, their lawyers have gone ahead with the lawsuit, claiming they are entitled to 10% of publishing royalties associated with the song. They estimate that they are owed somewhere in the neighborhood of $200,000, but they are also are seeking some damages for breach of contract, fraud, conversion, and copyright infringement.
Uh-oh. Not good.
But fair is fair and if these guys are owed something, than they should get something.
Do you notice that this seems to happen a lot more than it really should? Why is that? Oh right, greed.
