Perez Hilton's children's book The Boy With Pink Hair

The Boy With Pink Hair debuts September 2011

New York, NY (March 29, 2011) – Perez Hilton, the world’s most famous celebrity blogger, has written an insightful children’s book to be published by Celebra Children’s Books, in partnership with Penguin Young Readers Group. THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR celebrates individuality and self-acceptance, and is inspired by Hilton’s desire to promote equality in readers of all ages. The book was acquired by Raymond Garcia, Publisher of Celebra Children’s Books and will be edited by Steven Meltzer, Associate Publisher, Executive Managing Editor for Dial and Dutton Books for Young Readers. THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR is scheduled for publication in September 2011 and will have an announced first printing of 75,000.

“I am so proud of THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR, its important message and the creativity and the passion of the author delivering it – Perez Hilton,” says Raymond Garcia, Publisher of Celebra Children’s Books. “THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR is a defining story about how believing in yourself and following your aspirations can not only bring out the best in you, but also in those around you.  With fun, colorful and endearing characters, Perez reminds readers that by simply accepting our differences we can find the things that unite us all.”

Perez Hilton commented, “I am absolutely elated about this book, which comes from a very dear and genuine place within me. While I can identify in many ways with THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR, he represents so much more.  This story is about every kid that’s ever had a dream, felt excluded, wanted to belong, and hoped that one day they could do what they loved and make a difference.  Today, with this book, that’s exactly what I feel I have the opportunity to do.  I hope everyone can share in the spirit of a boy that only wants to bring some happiness to the world around him.”

THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR is the story of a child born with a shock of fabulous hair that sets him apart from his peers. While some find this difference hard to accept or understand, THE BOY WITH PINK HAIR uses the opportunity to find what makes him special and share it with the world. The children’s book is illustrated with vibrant retro-feeling art by first-time illustrator Jen Hill, putting into pictures the fun that comes with embracing individuality.

Perez Hilton is a celebrity blogger. Since launching in 2004, his website perezhilton.com gets more than 200 million hits a month and is one of the most-visited sites in the world. Re: MGMTFTW – do you have any idea what an asshole you sound like ??? didn't think so.

  2. 102

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – nothing wrong with plural marriage as long as my tax dollars aren't helping to support the wives and children of one man who would have a difficult time making enough money to do it on his own.

  3. 103

I'm sure the book is great, I just hope it has absolutely nothing to do with sexuality, which I'm sure it doesn't….

  4. 104

No thanks! After seeing you pick on celebrity children such as Adam Sandler's little girl, the last thing I want to see is a book for children written by YOU about equality.

  5. 105

Re: Jayyyy – if there wasn't a need for other books with the same theme there wouldn't be any kids (who grow into adults) who are ashamed of themselves. you write some of the stupidest shit. at least you're consistent.

  6. 106

Re: Shelah – Your post made me want to be sick. Your brand of bigotry is exactly what's wrong with the world. My brother is gay and there is nothing at all wrong with him. And your point "what parent wants a gay child?" is just dumb. Nobody WANTS a gay child, but most parents (or at least in my experience) come to accept and love their child no matter what. You are the one who is "completely disgusting" and I hope that one day you learn to act like a human being.

  7. 107

Re: Marcus75YOW – and you're an even lower brow anonymous nobody write shit on HIS website. envy is such an ugly thing

  8. 108

    Oh, Perez. Perez, Perez, Perez.
Your message of equality and acceptance is bullshit. You're a bully and a vapid, narcissistic human being. You take cheap shots at people who have done NOTHING to you. You're no better than the high school bullies that you condemn in your gay equality mission. How can you possibly hope to be a role model when you're exactly the kind of person that you're trying to stop young children from becoming with your book. You preach equality and whatnot, but you are so bigoted. Yeah, you do a lot for the gay community, but in your eyes, it seems that everyone else in inferior or not worth your time.
Sort yourself out before you even THINK about attempting to be a role model.

  9. 109

Again with the children thing. I wouldn't let my kinds anywhere near you, you're a bit too creepy.

  10. 110

Re: Shaniqua Jones – why should he donate a portion of his income from the book to charity? how much of your paycheck do you regularly donate to your favorite charity? we all have a right to make money (legally) and do as we wish with it. BTW if that's your photo you have no business calling other people fat …..

  11. 111

mario - i can honestly say as a parent, as a person…i hope no one buys your book. it makes me sick thinking about how mean you actually are. but if a celebrity comes along…you automatically go into kiss butte mode. yes, i know how to spell but just in case it's censored. the e-mail that you sent to me saying that if i didn't like what you wrote, then i should go elsewhere to read…shows that you don't like it when people critique you yet you can bully…put your comments where you somehow look like you are such an admirable person…what a joke. i can tell you honestly….that if God were to come down and look at you…you'd be one of the first ones He spits out of His mouth. You are shallow and evil no matter how you try to dress yourself up and what you write.

  12. 112

Re: bleahf – before you do anything for your child …. learn to read and write english properly. or perhaps you prefer to pass on the ignorance.

  13. 113

Re: LaughingOutLoud1 – and exactly what are you doing to change the world?

  14. 114

Re: Shelah – your ignorance is astonishing.

  15. 115

I liked the original book called The Princess Boy. Mario - you are not a boy and you didn't have pink hair as a boy - so stop ripping off ideas of other people with actual talent you moron.

  16. 116

Thank you, thank you, thank you! As a 37 year old mother of two, our family is very diverse. We have African American, Hispanic, White, Gay, Straight, and Bi-Sexual. I am always looking for books/ways to teach my children that we are all equal and beautiful. Good work and I can't wait to read the book!

  17. 117

What should any boy learn from you? How you back stabbed people and walked over them to achieve fortune and fame?

  18. 118

It's a nice message :) I hope all goes well for you.

  19. 119

Re: starstrukk47 – There are over six billion people on the planet… 200 million is not 'most of the world…..'

  20. 120

Congratulations on your new book that addresses exclusion along with other issues. But it is also time for you to revisit your outrageous views and comments on criminalization and hiv. It is all part of exclusion, stigma and discrimination.

  21. 121

Re: ms trudy – You're obnoxious

  22. 122

Re: ms trudy – You're Perez' mother or sister, I gather

  23. 123

Re: Voivode – What the fuck are you talking about? I never said 'most of the world'

  24. 124

Re: ms trudy – Wow you sure do have a soft spot for pedophiles… Do you argue with everyone who is not a perv. Get help

  25. 125

Re: La Garse – Why single you out? I guess because (I think?) I've noticed you're are a frequent commenter under 'La Garse' and I don't understand why someone would be so prolific a commenter if they disliked a site so much. Obviously you (and the other 'haters') have every right to keep reading/commenting, but why sacrafice your precious time and energy on Perez Hilton of all people? You're on a one (wo/man?) crusade to bring down some interent guy. Well whatever tickles your pickle I guess! (: I'm not a big fan of the man himSELF but his site is quite entertaining when I'm taking a break from studying, and if you like to know a bit about pop culture his site is less God-awful than some of the other 'celeb gossip' sites out there that seem to do nothing but point out cellulite and make snarky comments about celeb's weight.

  26. 126

Chapter 1. How to suk dik, 2. How to take it up the butt, 3. How to lap up all the cum. Not interested…total fail

  27. 127

the message would be nice written by someone else. you are such a hypocrite perez. i really hope you read these comments so you can see how people view you.

  28. 128

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – Hey, moron! Two consenting adults deciding to marry each other is not the same as one guy collecting a harem of wives under the guise and duress of archaic religious practices that are often convoluted to abuse and subjugate.

  29. 129

I'm not being negative for the sake of it but writers work damn hard and but up with an insane amount of rejection even if their manuscript is AMAZING and 'celebrities' just swan in and 'write' a book so they can pretend to be an author and it is an insult to those who work for it.

  30. 130

Thank god you didn't say it bitches book, cause isn't that the normal calling u have for babies and kids? :)

  31. 131

Is this an "homage" to the classic movie "The Boy With Green Hair," same basic story?

  32. 132

Perez, I'd be more interested in reading a book by your long-suffering mother and her "take" on raising, nurturing a flamboyant fruit cake of a child in a traditional Latino Catholic immigrant single parent family. What makes you tick? What childhood influences formed your psyche? Did nothing ever happen in your childhood that sent up red flags, caused embarrassment, negativity in the family unit? You didn't "just happen" overnight!
Of course, you would never allow it since it is always about you, You, YOU. The Gay community does not hold you to a high regard. Why is that?

  33. 133

Re: ms trudy – - Maybe nothing. Maybe something. Part of being chariable is not desiring credit/recoginition/press for it. Also, I don't throw birthday parties for myself.

  34. 134

Smh.. What a shame… REAL authors cannot get their novels published and struggle hard.. but here Perez is some psuedo celebrity and he gets a book deal.. smh.. all these "celebs" and their book deals make me cringe.

  35. Bree says – reply to this

So they're letting people who may have been investigated for pedophilia publish children's books? And yea, i see the message you're trying to invoke but you're not the brick layer in this here (See The Princess Boy or classic, Very Hungry Caterpillar as others have mentioned) then go focus on something else PLEASE.

  36. 136

Jen Hill is awesome! Good Job to everybody that was involved with this book!

  37. 137

    Re: NookiesWA
    You're a loser!

  38. 138

It should have been called "The boy with the red a$$ and torn rectum".

  39. 139

    Re: unreal5511
I think that the message Perez is trying to promote with this children's book is amazing. No one else has done something like this yet. Frankly, I am proud of Perez for this and I'm definitely going to buy copies and give them to all the children I know. Stop hating.

  40. 140

I'll buy it when it's $1 on Amazon.

  41. 141

Re: MoreISay – Dayum! Internet high five!

  42. 142

Look for it at the BigLots book bin for $2.00 in October 2011…this is an early April's Fool right??

  43. 143

  44. 144

Great another venture into failure again Perez, kind of like your music and T-Shirt businesses. Give it up and stick to reporting day-old celebrity news

  45. 145

Pedo alert! Pedo alert! Pedo alert!
Please do not be fooled by this revolting money-grubbing charlatan.

  46. 146

I wish you the best of luck! I most defently will get a copy & i hope alot of children all over the world will read it!!

  47. 147

I LOVE IT PEREZ every1 has 2 get it even the adults :P

  48. 148

i hope some one spelled checked it x) jk

  49. 149

    Re: LulaBelle80 – you're stupid, eat me!

  50. 150

Re: LaughingOutLoud1 – so are people supposed to live their lives and make money according to what you think is right? if he wants to throw himself a birthday party, so what ? you're as judgmental as he is, the pot calling the kettle black. I'm not too fond of the guy myself but he can do as he pleases with his time and money. you still haven't told me what you do to make the world a better place….

  51. 151

When I heard you talking about this book on my local radio station this morning I lol'd so hard!!! You're the last person I would ever imagine writing a childrens book. What the heck do you know about kids? I don't have any of my own, but if I did I sure as hell would never buy them this book. Fail!!!!!

  52. 152

Re: MoreISay – Hey, moron, have you ever heard of polyandry? No, of course not, because you're a fucking idiot. My point is pretty simple: if you support gay marriage but don't support plural marriage then you're a hypocritical douchebag and I'd put money on the fact that you're a filthy liberal, too.

  53. 153

  54. 154

  55. 155

Why are you guys calling Perez a bully when you are doing the exact same thing to him? Don't bitch about something if you do it yourself and so what he is writing a book about acceptance. It doesn't matter if its coming from a bully or Gandhi the message is the same! Accept people!

  56. 156

…And this is why I'm not having kids.

  57. 157

Re: Kayla Alexis Huard – Go DIAF with Ms Trudy

  58. 158

Perez hilton, you are by no means an advocate of human rights and certainly not one to be expressing individuality. You insult, ridicule and judge- You are the biggest hypocrite on the planet. Nothing you could ever do would have a 'good message' and appear sincere or genuine, because of the type of person you continuously prove yourself to be- A childish ignorant tool with warped agendas that do not encourage individuality or self expression, they instead expect everyone to conform to your fucked up way of thinking. This book is just another of your attempts to try and get public notoriety. Where you pathetic and lackluster involvements on reality TV not quite doing it for you anymore? As far as this book goes? I'm guessing it's a way to try and show everyone how much of a unique and amazing child you were- Which is yet again more of your self serving bullshit. It's about time you realise that you are not hated because you are famous, you are merely famous because we hate you. It takes A LOT for me to go as far as to hate a person, but you pretty much make it impossible not to.

  59. 159

    How wonderful! Cute cover too.

  60. 160

    Re: boogiewoogie
Sounds like a subject of which you're more obsessed than what Perez would write about.

  61. 161

While I commend your efforts at promoting acceptance, you still don't seem like the kind of person who should be catering to kids. You made fun of celebrities' kids in the past, especially Adam Sandler's daughter, Sadie. That was just cruel and disgusting of you, Perez. I really hope that you have changed your attitude, because otherwise, you are just a hypocrite looking to make money off of clueless parents.

  62. 162

so, it's the story of bitter overweight gay man who isn't happy with himself and his life that he has to pick on other people and bring them down to his level by writing a blog? yup, sounds like a New York times bestseller for sure!!!lol

  63. 163

I LOVE THIS! Im so happy you are trying to include the children in learning to accept everyone. They are the future!

  64. 164

Funny how someone who doesn't know basic grammar or how to spell can write a book. Welcome to Hollywood.

  65. 165

another quasi-celebretard writing a book. How original. Leave the little kids alone. they don't need to read this shit.

  66. 166

any boy that has pink hair, has it because a twisted adult dyed it that way. It's like piercing a baby or giving a kid a tatoo. You are imposing your values on them and that's not fair. The very premise of your book is child abuse. Nice going. Stick to what you know best. making your blog worse and worse every month.
