The unemployment rate fell to a two-year low of 8.8 percent in March and companies added workers at the fastest two-month pace since before the recession began.

    There is no recovery because that number does not include all the people that gave up. In California, there are no jobs, even part-time. I have four friends that work three part-time jobs to earn the same amount they did full time at 8 hours a day three years ago. This administration needs to do more to support the economy instead of putting more taxes and regulations on it.

    These numbers aren't really an accurate picture of what's going on. People started being laid off en masse at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009…which means they're exhausting all of their benefits and becoming "99ers" now. They haven't found jobs, they just aren't eligible for benefits anymore and aren't being counted in the numbers any longer. As of three weeks ago I became a 99er myself.

    The unemployment rate only includes those who are actually getting benefits from the government. Maybe a lot of people were unable to renew their benefits, hence the drop in the unemployment rate. It doesn't mean they found jobs.

    The "unemployment rate" statistic is really misleading.

    That doesn't include people no longer on unemployment dingus boy. We have nothing and an idiot at the helm. Guess the only change is what's left in our pockets.

    You're a fucking idiot. This rate does not include people that have stopped looking for work or are underemployed. The real number is around 20%.

CHange doesn't happen over night and blamming obama is just silly. He needs to go do some research on checks and balances..LOL

    As the earlier comments state… that number doesn't include people who have been unemployed so long that they no longer are eligible for benefits so therefore are no longer counted in the unemployment rate. My department just outsourced our position last month, so now I get to add myself to the list of the unemployed. No offense, but it doesn't feel like "a recovery is amongst us"

    Statistics can be shuffled around to paint a certain picture or create a political climate. If they used the same indices that were being used before the recession, then maybe it's a bit of light. If they didn't, it's smoke and mirrors.
    With all of the industry that left town, it's going to to take a while for new, young saplings to spring up out of necessity. People who can't find work will eventually create their own employment so they can survive, and then they will eventually hire, and so on.

    The president is a puppet people, he's just an actor, he's there to take the fall for the unpopular decisions made by the bankers and share holders that run this country. fighting amongst ourselves about what party or president is to blame only divides us.
