Sadly for the people over at CBS Evening News it looks like Katie Couric will be leaving her chair for some other opportunity, just 5 years after she historically took the position.
She was the first woman to solely helm a network TV evening newscast.
But after her debut, even though the ratings were decent, they fell to the 3rd slot for the night against their competitors and seem to have stayed that way.
So according to an anonymous CBS exec, the anchor will be taking her talents elsewhere:
A network executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Couric has not officially announced her plans, reported the move to The Associated Press on Sunday night. The 54-year-old anchor is expected to launch a syndicated talk show in 2012 and several companies are vying for her services.
We're sorry you feel like you have to step down, Katie, but we'll support any move you think is right for your career! As long as you're happy!
We'll def keep watching no matter where you are!
