Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth Set For The Hunger Games!

Hutcherson And Hemsworth Land Hunger Games

These were widely considered to be the most coveted of young roles this year, and they have just gone to the adorbs Josh Hutcherson and the seksi Liam Hemsworth!

Both have been tapped for The Hunger Games, which is based on the book(s) by Suzanne Collins about kids forced to fight to the death in a televised gladiator type sporting event each year, in a city located in the ruins of North America!

Jennifer Lawrence has already been cast, so it's a great group of up-and-comers!

Best of luck, guys!

Sounds like great material for the kiddies. It really will be "adorbs" especially if it gets an R rating. A combination of Gladiator and Solient Green is soooo cute!

So much for casting unknowns… GREAT. They are ruining the amazing books, just like with Twilight.

I see we are fawning for Miley's approval this week…

I think that Alex Pettyfer or Tom Felton would have made a better Peeta than Josh Hutcherson. I think Liam will make a great Gale but he does look more like a Peeta than Gale. Love the books though and hope they don't ruin the movies!

    NOOOOO.
I do not approve of this casting. I would have preferred Hunter Parrish for Peeta and Josh Hutcherson for Gale. I don't think Liam Hemsworth is that good an actor, and he looks wayyy too old. The whole cast does, really.
Whatever. I mean, it can't be worse than Twilight, but maybe they'll pull it off.

everyone that they are casting is too old and too pretty. movie always suck compared to the books that they are based on

Utter fail of a cast. I'm so freaking disappointed. Did they even read the character descriptions?

Logan Lerman should be Gale - look him up- perfection for the role. I don't know what the hell they were thinking with Jennifer. Katniss is olive skin with black straight hair so they cast a white blonde girl? I mean you can dye the hair but skin coloration to become olive toned is not something a tanning bed can make. As for Peeta whom I loved in the books I can't think of any actor that fit what he was in my head. Finnick should be Hunter Parish for sure though. Anyways the casting sucks but I hope the movie is still good. I loved the books.

Don't know about Liam, but who really cares about Gale anyway? Hutcherson adorable. I think he should be fine as Peeta.

I'm not sure what the casting directors are doing here. I'm just not excited about the movie after seeing this. If they insisted on using these actors they should have switched the roles. The character descriptions are totally different. Than again, we did say that with Robert Pattinson and Edward Cullen, and look how well that turned out.

  11. 11

BOO! Neither are suited for these roles. they better do a damn good job.

  12. 12

I agree with everyone here. I was really excited for the movie but why are they casting these people? Jennifer as Katniss? She's too old and pretty. Same goes with Liam for Gale? Yes, Gale and Katniss were described as appealing and somewhat attractive characters in the book but to cast "seksi" actors? I really hope they don't ruin the books!

omg i am so dissapointed. this is one of my favorite series and the girl who's going to play katniss? omg its just so much fail. I think josh would be a HORRIBLE peeta if he buffs up a teensy bit. but that guy as gale? no way. none at all. this is going to suck.

  14. 14

Terrible casting, these movie are going to be horrible, which is a shame because they are such good books!

  15. 15

i hope they dont ruin the books by putting all these well known celebrities in the movie. i think jennifer lawrence is a great actress, but way too old to play katniss. same with liam hemsworth, isnt he like 25? gale and katniss are supposed to be 16, just saying. im just hoping the movie doesnt ruin the amazing books!!

  16. 16

Josh has been in so many movies. He is not unknown. In an Academy award nominated movie, The Kids are Allright! Jennifer was an academy award nominee in her first major outing - Winter's Bone. Both from Kentucky, btw! they should be great.

I like the idea of Josh Hutcherson for Peeta - as he needs to have a certain boy-ishness, boy-next-door quality about him (and they can easily dye his hair blonde).
But I don't think Liam Hemsworth should be Gale - I was hoping for someone more exoticly handsome and well, European-looking like Gaspard Ulliel, who's name has been bandied about in my Entertainment Weekly's since the casting search began for the Hunger Games.

Re: TaylorTea – How would they find a good actor who also was good looking to play peeta if they were so lazy with the casting? Most of the adult fans of the HG are dissapointed. The director asked for only caucasian actors for the roles, they didn't extend the cast beyond hollywood. How couldn't they search like the Harry Potter producers? And they have a deadline, that actually made them rush over their cast is all wrong. They can dye their hair all they want but people won't be attracted for Jennifer and Josh as a couple. She looks older than him and he is, no disrespect more suited for playing bilbo baggins than Peeta mellark. Josh is not lead male in a movie period. Suzanne Collins should've been adamant about having a BIG search for the movie like JK rowling was but I guess she got so greedy that she didn't care.
