what did he do in Prisoner of Azkaban that indicated he was gay?

  2. 2

Of course Lupin's gay. Sirius was his true love. Just admit it, J.K. Rowling!

  3. 3

He didn't talk about men or women in that way in Prisoner of Azkaban. Why'd the director tell him to do that? It was pointless because nobody could tell either way.

  4. 4

That is so dumb. He is obviously not supposed to be gay, he is married with a child by the end of the series for goodness sake. The directors took wayy too many liberties in the making of the movies.

Just another reason that PoA is one of the worst movies ever. If Lupin had been written as a gay character by Rowling, then fine, that would be awesome, but to just have Cuaron tell Thewlis to play him that way?? That's ridiculous. But I hate the movie anyway, one of my favorite books and they just butchered it. Ugh.

And, I do agree with Michelle, Sirius and Lupin were always in love. Just like we all know that Harry really ended up with Draco in the end… :)

i don't think it really matters either way. whether lupin's gay or not doesn't change the story in any way. it's kind of like how she came out later and said that dumbledore's gay. like either way the story is the same, it doesn't change the story at all. i'm all for gay power but when it has no effect why do we need to point it out as if the character's sexual orientation matters?

Lupin is not gay…he married Tonks and had a baby. The director just wanted it to seem that Lupin and Sirius had a thing….directors shouldn't take liberties like that.

  8. 8

u just want the whole world to be gay and thats what's pissing the whole world off about gays.

How does one 'play gay'? I never saw anything that would indicate his sexuality in the movie and I've seen it countless times - Hello? Superfan! He seemed thoughtful, aloof, and sensitive, but how that amounts to being gay, your guess is as good as mine.

sounds like they just wanna grab press & sell more books, dvds and tickets

  12. 12

Most Harry Potter fans know he was told to act like an older gay man in that film this is such old news.

Re: mmg1001 – He made a lot of changes but it's actually my favourite film and is a good transition into the darker tone of the later books.

  14. 14

Why is it being found necessary to make HP characters gay years after the fact.
    Does it REALLY matter??

  15. 15

Lupin always gave off that vibe to me.

  16. 16

As far as the books go Dumbledore is the only gay one.

  17. 17

Lupin's sexuality is only important in that there is a love for Tonks which produces a child…and of course to pull at readers' heart strings when the fate of Lupin and Tonks comes to pass. I suppose they could make the character bisexual, but again, in the context of the story why would that even be relevant?

I don't get the "playing gay" thing. That's obviously just a liberty taken by the director, but Lupin was just kind and caring. That was his role as a teacher and a friend of Harry's parents. He cut himself off from other people not for being gay but because he didn't want to hurt them, and obviously he had a wife at the end. I never got the Lupin/Sirius support that so many people seem to have, but the gay thing just seems irrelevant because it didn't matter in the books.

  19. 19

I don't see how he was gay. Gay isn't an attitude, it doesn't define your general behavior, only your sexual preference. Who the fuck cares?

  20. 20

Truthful when Lupin was in PoA, I thought for a moment that he was gay. There is one scene that stands out to me. Its when Lupin is standing on the bridge talking to Harry about how to defeat a dementor….

    AND WOW I'm a dork!!

I swear I just watched this movie last week. lol

  21. 21

It NEVER seemed like Lupin was gay in the movie. Why are they saying this? It's just stupid.

  22. 22

I did not see him as gay other then just British. But, no if I knew he was gay or told to play gay I would not care either way. Still love the books and the movies…As a matter fact I'm waiting for HP The Half-Blood Prince to come on now…I can not stop watching these movies no matter how many times I have seen them. I'm a true Potterhead….

Seriously thought Lupin and Sirius were a couple just by reading the books, never mind seeing the Prisoner of Azkaban! (hell even the director took it that way too) The whole Lupin Tonks thing came out totally out of left feild really.

  24. 24

It wasnt accurate then I thought gays don't just magically change into heteros that's just stupid.

  25. 25

I always thought lupin and sirius were secret lovers and when sirius died lupin was hearbroken and married tonks because he really didnt care anymore. but everyone always told me i was crazy lol

  26. 26

it was the first potter movie i saw and i didnt read the books
but that character was totally a couple with sirius

  27. 27

That would totally be a dream come true.
Remus marrying Tonks to me and other supporters of Remus/Sirius was only because she was the last Black other than her mother around and she could change her image. ^_~
