Wow! This must be such a cool opportunity for him!

Andy Serkis will not only be reprising his role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as Gollum in the upcoming Peter Jackson-directed prequel, The Hobbit, but this time around, he'll also be the second unit director on the fantasy epic!

He revealed:

"There is really a sense of [director] Peter [Jackson] wanting people around him who totally understand the material and the work ethic. I will be very much on the live-action sets and locations helping Peter to tell the story."

Wow! Talk about a trusting relationship!

We're sure must be thrilled to take on this exciting new role!

Wow.

We are discovering Gollum is a little more talented and multi faceted than just a supporting role character I guess. Seems appropriate though I guess. The books actually portrayed Gollum as a very in depth character…whereas in the films he turned out to be rather comical.

All for the guy! He is quite talented. I seem to remember he did a lot of that crazy shit all on a green screen….very impressive.
