Catholic Church Goes After GaGa Over Judas

The Catholic Church is going after Lady GaGa over her upcoming music video for Judas, where she will reportedly portray Mary Magdalene.

President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, Bill Donahue, blasted GaGa, calling the video a "stunt." He added:

"People have real talent, and then there is Lady Gaga. I find Gaga to be increasingly irrelevant. Is this the only way to jet up her performance? This isn’t random, we are getting closer to Holy Week and Easter."

Oh, please. He couldn't be further from the truth!

Leave GaGa alone and focus your time and energy on more worthwhile causes.

Re: IKIlledJennySchecter – "Meanwhile, Ladytron, Goldfrapp, and Annie (true muscially creative types that know how to produce/peform a catchy pop song that doesn't make you feel stupid for liking pop) remain relatively unknown. I'm guessing Gaga's "little monsters" are fans of wigs and makeup…NOT music."

Have a look at her fans…. They are the most average, mainstream people out there. To them it's all new and original and wacky but only because they are the ultimate norm and seem to not know anything outside of that. They are a big portion of her fanbase, it's ridiculous.

Okay people, shut the hell up already. Gaga doesn't do ANYTHING for ANY other reason other than it's what her vision is. She doesn't do it to get attention or to get people talking, she does it to be true to herself. If she has views on religion or has an idea for a song or a video that has religious influences, then that's what she's gonna do. And she's not religious so she's not too keen on watching what she does. And don't disrespect the church? The church is a pile of hate-mongering idiots that are blinded by their "faith." So Gaga can do whatever she wants to do, because her message is nothing but love. PEACE.

I am ashamed that Lady GaGa has so many followers. She is terrible. Absolutely NO TALENT, just gimmicks. Give the Catholic Church a break Perez, this is not the first time you have basically made it sound like our religion is a bunch of idiots. You are offensive and hear no opinion but your own.

And the person who commented "Go back to molesting little boys. That is what you know about" directed towards the Catholic religion… that was one of the most ignorant comments I have ever heard.

  4. 304

Didn't Madonna piss off the catholic church enough the first time around? Maybe to be different, Gaga should could do a video that is "nice" & "catholic approved". Now that would be original. Put you bibles up!

    Re: Lola_ah
And you think you're just so cool because you're so anti-mainstream? If you HAVE to let people know that, you're really not. You're just so fuckin' transparent, and frankly, just BORING.

Re: Sue Ann Nivens – I like how you are assuming all Catholic churches are the same. And honestly, the way our society is, we are more influenced by celebrities so I would rather my children not have a role model that does not dress crazily and half the time is naked, and I would rather not have to explain the deeper meaning of Gaga. She is making pop music more complicated then it has to be.
Re: Saetana – So much hype is for this video that it will flop just like Born this Way

  7. 307

Re: Tony Gagaa – You obviously do not follow Gaga's "message of love". Just because some church people are over the top, does not mean you can make an assumption like that. Sorry they are not accepting of what you believe in. I am not into religion but I accept what people believe as long as they do not impose their beliefs on my life, or do not harm. And you have no idea what Lady Gaga's intentions are so you cannot make that assumption either. For all we know, she could be crazy ass hell and believe the devil is telling her what to do.

    Re: CatAttack – three snaps!

  9. 309

Re: yeaman – If you find Lady Gaga's pop music too complicated for you then are just a total dumb-ass.

Re: OriginalRecipe – Really because the horned theatrics and Illuminati Manifesto is oh so easy to comprehend. I should not have to read into all of her interviews to understand A MUSIC VIDEO. I watch the music video that is suppose to correlate with a song. Not go off with its own meaning.

  11. 311

Re: yeaman – Oh don't be a fool, the horns and illumnati is just smoke and mirrors. The meaning of the songs and videos are pretty simple and clear…she spent the first 2 & half minutes explaining that BTW is about a world of equality, I don't know how she can make it any more clear. It's really not deep or complicated music. Just cause it's not just another pop song about pop'in it in 'da club doesn't mean it's too confusing.

  12. 312

She really is just doing shit for shock factor, and it's so pathetic. If she wants to sing then sing, but why the heck does she have to be so disrespectful? Why is she riding on gimmicks? It's sad.

  13. 313

Re: Nicte De Leon-Calvi – Couldn't agree me.

That being said, there are many many churches that are very open and are fine with gays, other religions, abortions, etc. I for one go to church and support all those things ((I believe in God and Jesus, but I refuse to label myself or call myself religious. Not a fan of religions)).

  14. 314

I think that since its AFTER easter, its actually better because it won't have as much as an impression on the easter season. I don't know why they r making such a big deal. sure its coincidental but I don't think she is doing it out of spite for the catholic church.

  15. 315

I actually find it sad, cause she has so much talent, yet she insists on ALWAYS recurring to the shock factor when her talent should be more than enough to solidate her as an artist so instead of being known as Lady Gaga the talented artist/singer she will be known as Lady Gaga the freakshow who tries too hard to "shock"

  16. 316

Re: OriginalRecipe – So you, yourself said it was smoke and mirrors. So what, is she trying to confuse people? Because when i watch a music video, I take it all in and if i see the horns, then I am going to wonder why the fuck they are in the video. You really are running yourself in circles and proving that she is as horrible as most people think she is. There is no need to have "smoke and mirrors" in a music video. If her songs were really that simple, then she should maybe simple herself down some more because she has lost her shock value and everyone but a choice few see it. If a song is about loving someone, then they should not thrown multiple random ideas into it, just because she wants to shock people.

  17. 317

Re: yeaman – There is no need for smoke and mirrors, but it just wouldn't be Gaga without them…. besides, all the pop stars have distractions in their videos that have nothing to with the song. It's part of what makes pop videos so entertaining.

  18. 318

Re: OriginalRecipe – Yes, but what I am trying to say is that she is taking it way more serious then it has to be. When she first became famous, I thought she was different and weird but it was because she was. But I learned to love her first few songs. But now she keeps trying to outdo herself that it does not make sense anymore and its borderline ridiculous. I know she is trying to prove a point but showing up in an egg and wearing costumes that are over the top is more of a turn off in my opinion because I want it to be about the music, not her.

  19. 319

Re: zobiana – Like raping children? lol! I'm so happy that the Catholic Church is ALREADY pissed even before the song comes out! I grew up Catholic (just as our GAGA) and the Catholic Church can suck it. Can't wait for Judas!

  20. 320

haha! yay! The Catholic church can suck it! I'm so excited they are all pissed about it! I grew up Catholic and remember being told that I was going to hell for liking the Spice Girls when I was just 12 years old. Not only the Catholic religion, but Christianity in general is totally last year and needs to go out of style. Close the churches and build homes for the poor! I believe it is the Catholic church that is growing increasingly irrelevant. YAY GAGA!!

  21. 321

No surprise that the Catholic Church is ripping her apart. For once, i agree with them.

  22. 322

I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. If it has been done before and not so original as they claim, then WHY is everyone making such a god damn fuss over it??! Since it's been done before then why are so many people acting so surprised?

    Get over yourselves.

She is an absolutely amazingly talented singer, composer and performer. She's not just a gimmick. Even without the costume and the get-up she's brilliant. But at least this way her shows are far more entertaining than other celebrities.

Sometimes its hard to believe that she is the same age as myself as she has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and has caused such an impact on society.

  23. 323

ps. how is this song degrading to catholics? There are no lyrics in this song that specifically target catholics.

the song is a metaphor, it is simply a song about a relationship.

  24. 324

I love Gaga but posting pot inspired religious music is immature. Is there not one person that tells her she is doing something stupid?
    Ms Gibson?……………….
