Ouch! Chris Brown Is Not Going To Like This, GQ!

| Filed under: Celebrity FeudsChris Brown

Hey! The truth ain't pretty, sometimes!

Check out this screengrab from the GQ website, featuring this no-nonsense response from editors when a user asked about Chris Brown ever making an appearance on the cover (above)!

It reads:

Might be a while. It is Gentlemen’s Quarterly, after all, not Ironically-Named-Magazine-That-Knowingly-Puts-Domestic-Abusers-On-It’s-Cover Quarterly

OUCH! But we have to say, bravo!

We're happy to hear that some people recognize what he did for exactly what it is, and aren't letting him off the hook!

I dont agree with what he did but i think its time to move on!

  2. 2

Honestly.. it seems like perez goes out of his way to post bad things about Chris Brown (& other celebs on his shit list). I mean really.. who reads the Forums of GQ magazine or any other magazine for that matter- and pays it enough attention to make a blog post about it. Perez #1 searched thing in his browsers history is probably Chris Brown. lol.Dont worry Perez you wont be on it anytime soon either. Does anyone even read GQ? LOL And this looks really doctored as well.

  3. 3

guess sad but true …wasn't really nice though

  4. 4

I'm over this whole chris brown "women beater" crap. But i understand GQ's view on it, but i think they could have answered the question in a different manner, because it came off a bit insulting.

  5. 5

    Bravo GQ!

  6. 6

    Haha Harsh

  7. 7

I think perez searches for things to make chris Brown look bad.. I mean really? Posting a screen shot that looks doctored from a GQ forum? I swear if you were to go to perez' browser history his #1 searched item would be Chris Brown. His obsession is apparent. Dont worry perez you'll never be on the cover either. But seriously who reads magazine forums anyway? And I really find it hard to believe that any higher up exec took the time out of their day to respond to a random comment from the forums. JUST SAYIN!

  8. 8

    They speak the truth

  9. 9

Oops my bad about the double posting… Perez's site hasn't been posting my comments today…. looks like thats been fixed. Disregard

  10. 10

Both you and the magazine are totally lame. Chris Brown did the crime, paid the consequences and still you are thrashing things out trying to destroy him. You are such a limited minded person with vengeance on your agenda daily. Get over it. Otherwise perhaps someone should scrape together some negative aspect of your past life and send it daily over the internet. You are such a disappointment going back on your word to stop bashing people on your website.

  11. 11

Charlie Sheen is on the current issue cover. Sean Penn has been on the cover, and he bashed Madonna's with a baseball bat. They even reached out to Eminem to do a cover, and he BEAT his ex Kim to a PULP and bragged about it in many of his lyrics. GQ doesn't know the meaning of what it is to be a gentleman, and it's apparent from that UNPROFESSIONAL statement they issued. And it's racist as well. Chris committed one offense, Charlie and the others committed SEVERAL. Chris REPEATEDLY apologized and wrote songs of apology and shows remorse. Charlie and the rest have continued to party and act untouchable. So what GQ condones is beating up women as long as you're White? THEN you can cover their mag? They have had everyone from drug dealers to killers on their covers so I don't understand how they have room to judge at all. And Perez, you don't even like Chris to begin with, so of course you would condone this BLATANT act of unprofessionalism and racism. The main issue with you all is that what Chris did is unforgivable because he's BLACK and that just isnt right. No one is checking for GQ and this shows me that no one over there is even a gentleman to run a magazine on being one!

  12. 12

    thruth is harsh

  13. 13

Re: llyoll5 – As it should. The man doesn't even deserve a career, let alone a magazine cover… I say go GQ! Our society lets men get away with this garbage, and it's nice to see one place that doesn't.

  14. 14

Just because your ADD riddled minds don't want to hold on to "shit that happened", aka history, aka THE MFING TRUTH, does not mean that everyone else feels the same way. Yes Rihanna moved on (or so she says) but she was not the only one that his actions made an impact on.
So kudos GQ for keeping it real.
And to CB fans, get your asses up and vote for something that matters instead of defending this future z-lister.

  15. Lotso says – reply to this

    hahahaha LOVED it!!!!

  16. 16

Hey Mario stop being a bully….I hope the next person he beats is you lol

  17. 17

That's a pretty inappropriate and unprofessional response.

  18. 18

I usually don't comment on much. But it is time for me to let my opinion be heard. Perez Hilton, I am disappointed on you. I thought that you said that you were reformed and were going to be less judgmental. I definitely don't condone violence I definitely think that it is wrong. But as a Christian I believe that everyone deserves forgiveness. Chris Brown is a young man and has a long time to reform himself and learn from what he has done. I feel like you have a special bone to pick with him for some reason. You of all people should be more sympathetic to making mistakes and learning from them. Mr. Hilton, I would you like to be judged for the rest of your life as being racist for calling will.i.am the N word a few years back? As an African-American I was very offended by that. And for awhile I actually stopped viewing your website. But I got over it because I believe everyone makes mistakes at some point. Besides Chris has apologized a billion times when the only apologies that are owed are to Rihanna, his family, and to God. The whole world could learn more lessons on forgiveness. Maybe that is something that you teach your viewers…

  19. 19

Bravo indeed! I love GQ now :)

  20. 20

I don't think people should "move on" from this. I think the dude should have been driven right out of the entertainment industry. He gave Rihanna quite a beating and even *bit* her, like an animal. We've all seen the pics. I've seen some of his interviews and there's nobody home with him. He's got the same glazed over eyes and monotone voice that so many of those "rappers" have. Short little animal that likes to beat women and bite them.

  21. Bytch says – reply to this

Um, PEREZ was the one telling people to give his album a chance and let past be gone…..suddenly he's back on this? I fucking hate CHris Brown. He's a complete tool and useless douche and his music sucks, but Perez is a walking hypocrite with shit.

  22. 22

    Hell yes! Great job GQ

  23. 23

    Oh Snap! :D

  24. 24

That's a excellent definition of an anti-gentleman; and a gentleman's magazine understands the difference between its and it's.
And good for them for insulting brown; not enough do!
I read GQ when I get my hair cut; now I'll buy it.

  25. 25

    hahahahahahahahahahaha OWNED!
Everyone's arguement for "pro Chris Brown" is always, "Well Charlie Sheen is super popular now and he hit women." or "Other random men who have beaten women are on the cover." I'm not for that either! Men who assault women should never be forgiven! I honestly couldn't give a shit what happens to Chris Brown. His career is still going well, so I guess the joke's on me, but I think that putting him on the cover is just telling people "If you hit a woman, just wait like… year or so and everyone will forgive you!" DID YOU PEOPLE SEE THE PICTUREs OF RIHANNA !? Its not like that was just one punch to the face! That was fucked up! He even choked her until she passed out. I mean.. wake up people! Stop defending this asshole!

  26. 26

Re: AlchyAnonMS – What does being a Chris Brown Fan have to do with voting? LMAO.. kind of small minded of you to think that just because someone is a chris brown fan it automatically means they don't vote on "what matters" why don't you get your ass up and go do something meaningful. :)

  27. j.no says – reply to this

Letting hi off the hook? Dear jeebus, the kid paid for his crime, but you a two bit ass kisser has more compassion for Charlie Sheen than you do for Chris Brown. Your priorities are a little fucked up dude.

  28. 28

YAY GQ!!!! Good for them! He doesn't deserve any magazine cover, tv appearance, or career at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. 29

Breezy beat her down is a clown ass douche bag who deserves nothing but to mop the floors on the night shift at wal-mart.

  30. 30

People to to leave this kid alone. Till this date no one know exactly what happened. Even Rihanna's interview with Diane Sawyer was very vague. Maybe its because she herself has something to hide. What happened that night is between Rihanna, Chris and God and if she found it in her heart to forgive him then the rest of the world needs to shut the hell up. Truth is he was a kid and kids make mistakes. As a woman I can't condone what he did but I do think his personal life is none of my business and no one can deny him the right to make a living. He has a successful career because he is talented. It would be a shame if the world misses out on his amazing talent because they can't look past this. I don't think he needs to keep apologizing for it, he didn't do anything to us.

  31. 31

I'm not understanding why what Chris did is suddenly okay… I don't think the guy should be stoned anytime he's out in public, but what he did deserves lifelong criticism in the way GQ is providing. For no reason should it be swept under the rug because it's been a certain amount of time. May some publications, fans etc decide that they forgive him? Absolutely. Do others, like myself or like GQ, also deserve the right not to? You're damn right we do.

It's never going to just disappear. Especially because he is a celebrity. It will get better with time, but he also hasn't shown the right temperament about the issue. Just two weeks ago he threw what can only be considered a "temper tantrum" on the Good Morning America set. He acted like a child; end of story. He needs to deal with it like a man. He clearly still has issues with his temper, which is what got him into trouble in the first place. He really needs to grow up and I appreciate GQ's stance on the issue.

  32. 32

I think all the people defending Mr. Beatdown are victims of some sort of abuse themselves and they actually like it. I mean seriously, that whole forgive and forget thing is a little annoying. Celebs don't get the punishment they deserve most of the time and everyone is hollering, "Move on, blah blah blah." Not going to happen.

  33. 33

Well I bet they would put Charlie Sheen or Mel Gibson on their cover, they beat women. I don't know why everyone is still harping on something this young man did over a year ago. He paid his debt to society and his victim has moved on. These hipocrits need to wake up and look in the mirror and see that they themselves are not perfect. I also think that these different sorces that are against Chris Brown may have a problem with the fact that Chris is black and Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson are white. Come on folks!!

  34. 34

Re: AlchyAnonMS – Ha!! They are not keeping it real, read the posts stupid!!

  35. 35

I think we should all contact this magazine and let them know we do not appreciate them making these comments about Chris Brown when they have people on their covers that have done far worst things than Chris Brown.

  36. 36

    Good job GQ!!!!

He can apologize and go to 'treatments' and whatever, yet everybody knows that violent people stay violent, especially those that have been living with domestic abuse.

I have had to live with violent people, and I can personally say without a shadow of doubt that violent people DO NOT change. It takes a lot of energy and willpower to physically hurt another human being, so I would say the very act of physical violence in the first place is a major sign that the person is a fucked up individual.

As far as GQ goes, it was very brave of them to hold to their beliefs and deny that they would ever feature Brown on their cover. It makes perfect sense to me at least. Hey he can 'change' and I think it's ok to let him move on and start a new life, as long as he never ever hurts another human being. Yet you have to see that even though he has 'changed' he is definitely not cover boy material, especially not for GQ, a prestigious magazine.

There are tons of perfectly lovable gentlemen that could be featured and deserve to be featured on their cover. Once you do something like physically hurt another human being, you just do not completely go back from that, and I don't think you should be able to 'forgive and forget'.

  37. 37

DOUCHE BROWN should never be on ANY magazine EVER again.
He is a worthless woman beater, and there is no defense. He paid for his crime? Ha. The motherfucker never spent one day in jail.

  38. 38

    I say bravo GQ!

  39. 39

wow GQ just earned a lot of respect from me!

  40. 40

thats just mean you now wat ya just hating on Chris

  41. 41

On behalf of women that have been beaten up by men, I would like to say thank you GQ for standing up for what's right! I hope all the other magazines take your lead!

  42. 42

The people defending him make me throw up in my mouth. It's CLEAR that Chris Brown hasn't changed AT ALL! He keeps throwing tantrums like a little girl and gets violent, even if it's not against people, he's violent, people! He had to "let out anger?" UMMM…mentally stable people don't throw shit at windows because someone reminded them of the horrible things they have done. IF CHRIS BROWN HAD MADE ANY IMPROVEMENT IN HIS ATTITUDE, I WOULD GIVE HIM A CHANCE. He hasn't. This is his job, it's HIS choice to remain in the spot light. People will NEVER stop talking about him beating the shit out of her, and they shouldn't!!!
Plus, if you don't like Perez and just disagree with every word he says out of spite…WHY THE FUCK DO YOU COME TO THIS SITE?!?! Loser's much?! Yes. You are losers. Pathetic. Wife beaters AND homophobes.

I'm a chick but this makes me want buy GQ! Finally, someone isn't coddling this loser!

  43. 43

Hmmm. Funny editorial response! However, considering some of the past coverboys and general GQ content, I'm not certain there's a consistency being maintained. It might be nice to see Mr Brown TRULY reform, and grace the cover at that time. As well as GQ shaping up its own image before chucking too many stones.

  44. 44

It is a good thing the GQ editor put "Knowingly" in the label because the magazine has had domestic violence offenders Charlie Sheen, Sean Connery, and Mel Gibson on multiple covers of their magazine. 50 Cent a convicted drug dealer and Jay Z an admitted drug dealer were also on covers. Oh, and don't forget Mr. Temper Tantrum snatching microphones from young girls Kanye also covered GQ. GQ Magazine definitely has standards (side eye).

  45. 45

Eminem, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Wahlberg, Jay Z, and Kobe Bryant have all covered GQ with criminal records, some stemming in domestic abuse. Some charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER (Mark Wahlberg, Sean Penn) ..Jay Z plead guilty to stabbing.

If their criteria is actually GENTLEMAN they've went against that for DECADES, but let's make a sarcastic, condescending remark to the youngest offender. Joy.

  46. 46

    Re: gilliandawe91

He did not choke her until she passed out, for one. There's no need to exaggerate on an already brutal act. The point is THEY used the example that leads people to point out their hypocrisy. Chris Brown was wrong as Charlie Sheen is wrong but at least Chris Brown is seeking helped and has changed from hurting another human to throwing things. It's still wrong but it's not as wrong as Charlie Sheen so to treat him with MORE contempt is an issue that attention will be called too.

  47. 47

Some comments are alluding to other´s people´s mistakes and saying poor little Chris only made one mistake. He severely beaten his partner, one time, that we know of. And juding by his actions on GMA the dude still have temper issues. Furthermore, I don´t think that Charlie Sheen or whoever akes the Chris Brown situation right. He´s a douche, like Mel Gibson, like Eminem. These all cases of IPV.

  48. 48

I agree with you Perez, "the truth ain't pretty sometimes." Unfortunately, this isn't ONE of the cases where truth is being presented. GQ's statement was laughable at best, hypocritical at worst. I realize you are the Captain of the Rihanna Navy and willing to be led around by her on a leash like a common animal, but I thought journalistic integrity would at least make you appear to be credible. You sure proved me wrong. You know GQ does NOT hold others who have appeared on their cover to the same standard they are setting for Chris Brown. Can you say Charlie Sheen, Eminem and Sean Penn? I guess that old saying is correct, some things are just a case of BLACK and WHITE. I really expected more from you Perez.

  49. 49

    Re: ChrisBrownBeatsWomen

I guess you don't give a damn about the guy Jay-Z stabbed, huh? Or the guy Mark Walhberg almost killed. The list goes on. Fucking Hypocrites

  50. 50

    Re: AlchyAnonMS

You know how fucking delusional you sound? It's okay for Rihanna to move on, but not you? Anyway, countless non gentlemen have appeared on their cover. Ozzy Osbourne won "Man of Year" at the GQ Awards. He almost killed his wife back in the day. Both admitted it.

  51. 51

    Agree with them

  52. 52

    Re: ValerieJ

He did not beat her almost to death! Use common sense for once in your damn life.

  53. 53

LOL. Unless you're Charlie Sheen or Sean Penn - then you can be a woman beater AND a gentleman.

Very professional, GQ. PEREZ, this isn't even news! The Chris Brown bullying is getting OLD, OLD, OLD.

  54. 54

Thank God someone in the media has some brains and humanity.

  55. 55

Forgive but don't forget. If we all kept grudges the world would be at a stand-still.

  56. @v@ says – reply to this

OH, well. The guy who wrote that isn't likely to make the cover of 'Spin' magazine or Rolling Stone, either.

  57. 57

so i have to say something. first off it is completely unprofessional and juvelile of gq to make such a statement. if they dont want him on the cover, just say we choose to not put him in our magazine end of story. second. chris brown made a huge mistake, i dont condone violence towards anyone, but im sorry there is a lot more to what happened than any of us will ever know and to contunually bring it up isnt right either. he paid his price and will have it with him the rest of his life . and personally i dont like rhianna. for someone who has been "beaten" she sure makes herself seem sleezy. whips and chains excite her. spanking britnant spears about the video she wants to make with here, wearing revealing clothing. she seems like a freak and lieks to be hit , i wouldnt doubt they had a bondage sexual relationship. shes not as innocent or much as a victim as people make her out to be . but people need to let it go . let him live his life.

  58. 58

Well someone had to do it. Well done GQ.

  59. 59

True! Because a true gentleman never beats his girlfriend senseless. Never has. Never will.

  60. 60

Wow !!! Well done !!! Re: MsJules – It's just battered little girls like that you don't mind Chris Brown and other abusers. Somehow you think that this behaviour is acceptable.
    Get some selfrespect PRONTO !

  61. 61

Ouch, for Chris B., reality bites. I agree with GQ, but they have to be consistent with their decision or action. Don't put Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Sean Penn or anybody with the history of abusing woman/women including Tiger Wood who humiliated his wife and put her life in danger. Only put the picture of gentlemen in the cover. Let's see whether GQ consistent with their action.

  62. 62

ohhh cryyy me a river, people are such hypocrites.

  63. 63

    Re: Mary Kouman
Is this supposed to be English? The ignorance of your words just prove that the backers of Mr. Brown (the Mr. being a joke) are as ignorant as he is.
    Go GQ!!!!

  64. 64

I wish Lindsay Hohan would start dating Chris Brown. She needs the shit beaten out of her! haha

  65. 65

Re: ParalyZzzZzer – Don't ever comment to me like you know anything about me.. my life or what I've been through. And calling me a battered little girl who needs self respect. Hardly is that the case. Wow Verbal Abuse.. thats awesome too :) YOu know women who are verball abused experience as much psychological damage as those who experience physical abuse.. go look it up. Dueces.

  66. 66

  67. 67

this sh*t is gettin old now, im not gonna deny wat he did was wrong but perez is REEEAAALLYY pissin me off now. y isit that u always hav a negative comment bout chris and always summin good to say bout rihanna. ur justa f***in hater! y dont u try growing up in the spotlight and see how u do!!!!!

  68. 68

    *continued from last comment*
BTW, WTF! she hit him first…

  69. 69

You people should look for a better thing to be doing ,than to be disturbing people, why you are not produce any good thing than to gossip, than to keep lying day after day, just to make sure you people had news for that day,God will punish you (perezhilton)you producer your board and those fools who goes around and the the rubbish you call news,i know BREEZY is better than you people and will forever better than you people, leave him alone or you,you bunch of fools
