Here's the sitch:
CNN has got this 7PM slot wide-open for new programming, so the network has been scrambling to decided what to do with it. According to insiders at CNN, the agreement amongst the suits is to flll the void with a program that would win back the African-American and Hispanic viewers (because somewhere along the line, they lost them!)
With that in mind, the suits are attempting to woo wither Chris Rock or Aisha Tyler to join the team. Actually, the network already shot a pilot with Soledad O'Brien last month in hopes that they could fill the slot with that. However, we hear CNN Worldwide president Jim Walton watched the show and promptly deemed it "unwatchable."
Damn! We wonder why!
We appreciate the willingness to add some diversity to the line-up, but don't underestimate the power of just solid, responsible journalism. People, all people, will tune in to your new show if they find it showcases important and relevant stories in an engaging way.
