Cee Lo's Set Gets Cut Short At Coachella!

Hey, you showed up late! Who do you think you are - Lauryn Hill!

Cee Lo Green was one of the big acts everyone was waiting to see on Coachella's opening day Friday, but his set got cut to only 20 minutes after he arrived late to the gig.

Upon arrival, Cee Lo implored the audience to "stick with him" and apologized for the delay. He insisted that his flight had just landed and that the promoters should have given him a "better slot," but then got busy playing music for the anxious crowd to raise their spirits.

He managed to make it through five songs, including his signature hits Crazy and F*ck You, but just as he was going into a cover of Journey's Don't Stop Believing, the sound was cut. At first, people thought it was a technical glitch, but then Cee Lo was seen shaking his head in anger and rushing off the stage. His band, who were still playing despite the abrupt end, followed suit.

If the crowd was angry at him before, we imagine they were practically LIVID at the promoters after. We certainly think it was pretty rude of them to cut him off the way he did. They could've at least let him finish the song! Lame!

Good for the promoters. I'm sure CeeLo and his staff were told of their allotted times and what would happen if they were late. Yawn.
    Don't do drugs, kids!

  2. 2

The idiot shouldn't even attempt to touch Journey.

If you accept a booking, it's under the premise that you'll be there for that slot.
At least he got five songs sung.

  4. 4

No other business allows you to be late for work. I can't stroll into work 20 min late. Why should entertainers be treated any differently?

  5. 5

    It's simple.

1.) Don't cut things that close.

    2.) Show up on time.

  6. 6

    Lawl.

  7. 7

Again Mario has NO clue. Don't show up on time, get cut short. Doesn't seem that hard to most people. Guess Mario shows that he has no clue on life yet again.

While I agree that punctuality is important, the man didn't get up there and blatantly tell people they need to get over the delay and that he's worth the wait. He apologized and did what he could. We all screw up sometimes, I think they should have at least let him finish his song.

  9. 9

That was his allotted time, use it or lose it.

  10. 10

at these festivals where its one thing after the other, you can't mess around.
i like cee lo, but maybe the next act was on time.
at least everyone was saved from another journay cover

Knowing how promoters work, I'm sure Cee Lo was given warning at least two songs prior to be cutting off that he had to get off the stage. If he decided to keep going, of course he's going to get cut off. It's not fun for the fans, but they have a schedule to keep at a festival like Coachella. If they run overtime, they can get fined tens of thousands of dollars. He's a good artist, but show up on time for the slot you are given.

  12. 12

    that's kinda funny

  13. 13

His show wasn't cut short, HE WAS LATE, he can only blame you perez and himself! Just kidding about you perez, i like you, liked you more when you were a telenovela villana on this posts.

  14. 14

He needs to put on his big boy pants and deal with it. Standard rules in the contract state load in time, sound check and performance time. I'm sure the next act was ready to go. If not, they might have bent the rules and let him finish.

  15. 15

Should have let him finish the song, but he should have been there waaay early!

  16. 16

He needs to get over it. Shit happens, but the show must go on.

  17. 17

Good! Lil' Wayne tried to pull that at Voodoo Experience a few years back and they cut him off mid-song, too.

  18. 18

AT least he was apollogetic about being late and got straight into it when he arrived. But festivals have no option but to cut you, that could be from lateness or too much talking in the set. Nothing will be worse than the abomination that was Guns and Roses at Reading Festival 2011. They showed up late intentionally, we're shit and then shouted at the crowd for walking off. And then refused to leave the stage. Arseholes.

  19. 19

SUCKS FOR HIM!!!!! WHAT A DOUCHE… STOP BLAMING THE PROMOTERS. TONS OF OTHER ACTS SHOWED UP ON TIME WHY CANT THE FAT MIDGET??!!!! BESIDES… HE COULD HAVE BOOKED AN EARLIER FLIGHT BUT DIDNT. TRUTH…

They have a schedule to go after. If they let one person go on longer the whole schedule gets messed up.

  21. 21

Other artists were waiting in queue to play. Of course they had to stop him. I like him, he seems like a sympathetic guy, but he stepped over the line this time.

  22. 22

I was there! I would have happily forgiven him being close to forty minutes late had he been any good. He looked completely bored the whole time. It was aweful! Don't be late, suck and run off stage! He definitely lost a few fans, me included.

  23. 23

Re: Onlyonce222 – I agree, I was there also and he stomped off like a fat little babycry!!!!!! HYSTERICAL!

  24. 24

His plane was not late. He has been in the Coachella Valley since Thursday. He was at the local target on Friday or Thurs. Cant remember what day

  25. 25

Cee Lo, no bones about it, flat out sucks. Those people were lucky he got cut off. Ugly little sociopath troll. Warhol must be turning in his grave cause Cee Lo's 15 minutes are way more than up.

  26. 26

You fucking idiot. Coachella has a schedule that they need to adhere to. All venues have policies that if an act goes over, they need to pay for every minute they go over. If you go on late, it's your fault.

If you think of yourself as such a music industry pro, then learn the ways of how to run a show. It's not just standing in front of a step and repeat and smiling for the cameras. It's actually working a corporation/business.

    27

Letting someone finish a song sounds good, until they jam and riff and get the crowd involved for 15 extra minutes. Add that up times several bands, and then Coachella suddenly becomes in breach for making bands wait.

Re: llwink – OK, gotta say something. : ) CeeLo's stuff is some of the freshest modern soul to come down the pipe in eons. Musicians know it.

  29. 29

If you agree to do a job and you agree a time to do that job and take the money, but fail to turn up, you are stealing from your employer!!!!

  30. 30

    Ha HA

  31. 31

I was there, and its not the promoters fault. He was there late and he told the crowd to say fuck you to coachella just because they didnt put him on at night with the headliners.
