Susan Lucci Had No Idea AMC Was Getting Cancelled!

And if Erica Kane wasn't in the loop, you know no one else in the cast was!

Right now, soap fans across the country are in mourning after it was announced that All My Children and One Life To Live are officially going off the air after decades of programming. Fans were shocked, but it turns out, they weren't the only ones. Susan Lucci apparently was completely blindsided by the announcement, as evident by the fact that three days prior, she was raving about the show's success!

When Susan was approached by paparazzi on Monday and asked about the then rumor that the show was going to be cancelled, Susan insisted that there was "no truth to it" and that she was gearing up for another storyline soon. Does that sound like someone who is in the know???

Further confirming Susan's lack of knowledge is her daughter, Liza Huber, who insisted her soap star mother learned about the show's fate on Thursday at the same time producers informed the rest of the cast and the rest of the world found out. While Lisa said her mother was "upset" by the news, she added that Susan has no desire to retire and is looking for new projects as speak.

Good for her! She's a talented and tough lady and she's still got a lot of good years left in this business! How exciting it will be to see what she does next?

Hey, a stint on Hot In Cleveland would be good! Give Betty White a call and set that up!

Once again proving current ABC management can't manage a network properly.

Call me old fashioned but when you decide to swiftly cancel two 40 year old shows in the same day common courtesy is to let the cast know personally. ABC instead decided to tell them via a tape that was taken down from daytimeconfidential.com. To be honest I watch these shows at night either via soapnet or online because I do have a day job but they still have many loyal fans (think generations) who feel like their years of loyalty have been spit on. ABC isn't going to get them back by putting cooking shows on…its just like being fired from a loyal job, you aren't going to go back. The genre isn't like it used to be there isn't a lot of people coming back from the dead or saving the world OLTL is actually the soap that has a teen bullying/suicide storyline right now and AMC was the first soap to show a female/female kiss they are much more relevant than given credit. The only reason they were cut down was because of money and improper management….I mean are you a proper manager if you have to cancel two 40 year old shows to save money?

They been talking about cancelling them for years. She had to have some clue, if anything she is in denial. After being involved with something your entire life, it is hard to accept or believe. There is no reason why she would be in the 'loop', since she is hired help.

This shouldn't be a surprise. The "Stories" have been in trouble for years. But like previous folks have stated. There is a way of doing things. ABC did a sucky job of ending such long running shows. And they are replacing it with more cooking shows? Fail!

Actually Susan did think she was in the "know" they have been telling them for the past year "your in great shape" (this was from the head of abc daytime) "you are not being cancelled, this is just viscous rumors" which she did mention on her book tour that these are "rumors made up by bloggers" then they were cancelled. It was just lying, they were lied to and the fans were not given a chance to save their show unlike primtime usually is (Jericho comes to mind or Fringe) I really do think that this was handled just awful, the longterm fans were slapped in the face and ABC is going to have a very hard time getting them back. I feel like they will eventually hand over the time to the affiliates.

Well, she can always do infomercials instead.

I guess she'll have to do what all soap stars do past 40, infomercials - wait, isn't she already doing that? Ehh, she's got a good 5 years to milk QVC. edit: Holy shit - she's 65!?! Damn girl - time to retire and live off that amazing nest egg (I hope) you built for yourself.

She had a loooooong run with steady employment- paid well I am sure. Wish many Americans could have had a long run with employment the way she has….She got laid off, just like many others.

Did they not do any tests about this? How can America pretend they are trying to cut down on obesity and then add yet another food show. I'm so tired of answering people from abroad asking me "Why does America do this, that & the next" "Why don't they care about their own people" I just can't come up with the answers. The soaps were an innocent from of entertainment with many fans that don't want to progress into the violence that US TV has to offer. All these shows that make a fool out of people like "Wipeout" etc are so fracking popular that it seems that the US has just turned in to a red neck society. Adults behaving like children. Why move an entire cast to LA from NY and then dump the show. I hope they are getting a decent severance package. Another food show……I shake my head.

Re: windbourne – Probably the smartest thing ABC has done in years - soap oepras cost a mint to produce and it's audience is literally dying off with little signs of new ones taking their place. It's called ratings and they've been on the decline for years - they are not a charity. Not to mention that the demographic is the most unattractive one to advertisers. For the most part they are on a fixed income and don't buy new product or big ticket items. Babyboomers are dying.

Yeah right, f**** off Susan Lucci. of course she knew about it, she deceived fans and lied to them so they would keep watching the show. I swear some of these overrated divas are full of it. when they are "rumours" something is being cancelled, its not just the media being malicious, there is a grain of truth in there. She knew the shows had gone downhill, and a whole loads of issues behind the scenes that were going on most of us don't even know about but can still see the show was going to get cancelled, how can she as not se that. either she isnt very smart or she is in denial.

  13. 13

I can only wonder how many millions $usan milked out of AMC and her sponsorships over the last few decades. And she knew what was coming, why do you think her book came out at this time? To use the publicity of the show being cancelled of course. She's a con artist of the highest order, well played.

ABC forced the cast to re-locate to California with very little notice all to save on the cost of producing the show. Then they cancel the shows with just as little notice or respect. Hundreds of people will lose jobs i.e. magazines, photographers, actors, crew, caterers etc… Advertisers pay HUGE $$$ during soap opera time slots and know that is where their buyers find them. Cooking shows…!?! PLEASE - why not improve on Rachel Ray first!!!

  17. 17

Not cool ABC! That cast just moved to LA last year. Now they get the boot too?? Oh, shut the front door! Please don't mess up GH!

  18. 18

Oh, La Lucci will always have work! Love that outfit she has in the pic. But, she has done Broadway singing and acting in Annie get your gun. She also have many movies of the week under her belt too. That's the only reason she was absent from AMC was to do TV Movies. At least she was faithfull to the show. But, hey she and others have had a good run! Well done La Lucci!
Oh, and not a breathe of scandal! Oh, perish the thought. Good marriage, long employment and she already has different lines of skincare and other products already on the market and have been for years. Time to smell the roses Susan you have earned them.

You are so so so wrong. Like we need another cooking show. If you don't know how to cook after watching all the ones we have on already you'll never know. I love these two soap operas and am so sad.
